My wife and I are 84 yeas of age, we have been married 65 wonderful years. She has advanced stage Alzheimer's disease in the nursing home. I feed her purred lunch daily, I love her with all my heart and will always care for her. She was a perfect homemaker and nurturer. Your tenderness remindes me of her. We love you and thank you for sharing your beautiful voice and demure.
Throughout her career from a very young age up to this day, her voice is still perfect. Every note is completely exact. The quality is pure crystalline. Zero hunting for notes, just perfect.

I am 80 years old. Where have I been? Only recently found Sissel on You Tube. There has been only one other female singer that has touched my heart like Sissel... Patsy Cline. Yes, I know that they are dramatically different, but both had and have the incredible ability to make the listener believe that she is singing only to them. Tears can easily flow with both ladies.
There are lots of great voices that break me up, male and female. For me the test is: which would I take to my desert island where I am only allowed one..... this is the voice. Technically it's not the greatest singing voice I've ever heard but it has the humanity & love at its heart that I would need on my lonely island.
Sarah Brightman, Suzan Erens, Doris Day, Debbie Reynolds, Jo Stafford and Patty Page also come to mind as wonderful female singers. Regrettably only Sarah B and Suzan E are still with us today.
Glenn, I'm 75 and I feel the exact same way. Patsy will always hold a place in my heart, but Sissel is that person, that voice that reaches out and holds you like a warm hug. I only found her a few years ago but I have loved every one of the songs she has sung. Have a good life. Glen
I'm 73, and for me it was Vikki Carr, and now Sissel. She has an amazing voice, and she's a beautiful woman.
I'm not 80, but there are many artists that can touch your heart...another being Enya! Listened to much of her music tonight, and it truly rests your sole to listen to her songs.

I loved and still do, “The Righteous Brothers” version of this song,. Sissel brings an Angelic quality to this song that makes it every bit as haunting and beautiful and perhaps more so. God definitely touches some few of us to keep us aware of how beautiful is His creation.

I am 78 and just heard Sissel for the firt time. She is has delicious soprano voice and a warm smile. I have just become a Sissel fan. I discovered opera singers through, Amira, Paula Bretan, Patricia Janeckova and Alma Deustcher, but now I know from whom they have learned to sing.

Why hasn’t she been seen and heard on British TV ?she is wonderful and makes lyrics very personal, I love her renditions of classic and contemporary songs. Sweetest voice and effortless range.
She is one of Prince Charles' preferred singers and that's why she appeared on the Royal Variety Show a few decades back, at the Palladium, London.

I have been listening to this beautiful song since the Righteous Brothers first recorded it in the late 1960s, and have heard them perform it on stage More than once in Southern California in the early '80s. But this lovely solo version by Sissel is the most beautiful version of it that I have ever heard. The feeling she puts into it goes straight to a deep place in the heart, and takes your breath away. 😌💖💖
Written for a prison movie titled 'Unchained' (1955). Composed by Alex North (1910-1991) with lyrics by Hy Zaret (1907-2007). Together they created a song that has been covered by over 700 recording artist in the world. Becoming a beloved classic that has grown in popularity every year since 1955.
This song is being sung masterfully and beautifully by Sissel. It was a privilege listening to this. Great post!

I agree. There are many good covers by this singer. Her Solveig's Sang (done in national dress) is the best I've ever heard. Her Shenandoah, Slow Down, Reger's Lullaby, Crying in the Chapel, Ebb Tide... just some to start with. The voice is exceptional.
I have never heard that song before. Oh, I've heard it by other vocalists, some good ones, but as I listen and see her passion for beauty and music come from her soul, it brings the longing I have for my late wife to my eyes. A masterpiece, as only she can sing it.
This one and "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" bring tears to my eyes. I lost my wife two years ago and miss her so.
