Hi! just come back from zanzibar (NUNGWI) and I sailed with locals DHOW (bigger than this one in the video). it was a great experience and these boats are fast! we were around 7/8 knots with light wind. very nice video! cheers
Love the way these boats are set up! Would love to know more…😁👍🏾⛵️ I live in the United States and sail boats here. Would like to know more about how they are built…
Hello Jud, Aesthetically this is beautiful, technically accomplished but...I wonder? Do you consider yourself a documentary producer? Do you wish to respect as much as possible your subjects and their culture? If so please include where and when this was shot. And if your subjects wish - their names and some background on them. What are the uses/economics of the Dhow? I am living in Mombasa, Kenya trying to learn all I can about the culture. That information would be very helpful. Asante Sana! Megan
My apologies. It was shot in Zanzibar and it was shot right around the time I uploaded it. For better or worse, I was unable to communicate with the fisherman. I met one who offered me a chance at riding from one port to the other. This isn’t so much a survey piece as it is an experience captured. With more time and effort I will be sure to include such details. Thanks for your question.
love this work! very peaceful with the source audio. amazing how his ripped polo shirt tells a story on its own. how built out was your camera rig for this?
Far too stimulating for me. I think you should have made it much more mundane and not showed us quite as much of the subject that we were actually interested in.
The look, the feel 😘
Safi kabisa. Bahari nzuri sana. Ndugu anavua samaki kama fundi.
Asante sana kwa kukagua!
Thank you. Beautifull work. Very interesting.
Really appreciate you checking it out!
Nice shots and very clear audio

Always wondered how you ‘ Come About’ in a Dhow. Now I know.
Little luck is all!
Belo.
Beautiful ship and sails. It looked pretty fast, do you know how many knots/kph?
Gosh I’m not sure about that one. I’ll say 10 ish.
@@judnichols ah, no problem. Thanks!
I like proas too
Love these shots. Audio from external mic?
Also, just subscribed. Keep the videos coming.
@@givingnarrative8427 really appreciate that! Actually was the internal mic. The audio quality surprised me.

Thanks a lot! Actually just a power base battery and lens and variable ND. I’m not a fan of rigged out pocket cameras. I like compact and minimal.
Beautiful 🙌what was ur lens and filter setup with p4k ?
Really appreciate that. Panasonic 12-35 ii with a variable ND.
@@judnichols thank you, which VND do u use?
@@shreekarabhat8427 I believe the teffen. It vingettes a bit, so it isn't the best one.
@@judnichols thank you for reply, I liked ur videos, keep inspiring, subd👍 :)
