- I have always loved this tune, ever since I first heard it played by Frankie Gavin of De Dannan. Of course Frankie plays it at a livelier pace, but I quite like it at this tempo as it sounds so sedate. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it :)
I've posted the notation on the video but will also make copies in the community section.

I just want to say as a player of trad music, peakfiddler is playing the tunes at a proper dance tempo, I get tired of show off players, playing tunes at a hundred miles a hour, its important to cherish theses melodys and put feeling into the melodies, to bring them to life.
This us my go to tune after trying to learn classical pieces. It is also the tune which inspired me to learn violin. I picked up my first one when I was 69! 4.5 years later, I'm getting there. Thank you for a really great tune and all the joy it gives me to play it. You're the best. Thank you.
I'm a beginner fiddler ( though, not a beginner musician ) at 53 and really appreciate you making these videos. Thank you.
It's really good to know that my videos are of value, thank you for commenting
Your tones are always so smooth and clear ! You set quite a high bar !
Thanks for sharing the sheet music. Crisp and strongly performance
My thanks for having great and easily playable music of all styles, Celtic and Gaelic.
It's helped my adventure into a genre I've always loved.
Thank You Again, Sir.
Great to hear!
I really like it at this pace. I do enjoy your posts also, thanks.
Thanks Robert, as slower pace just seems to sit right with this lovely melody.
Super piece - being an "older player" that is certainly still learning the violin - tunes and scores like this by Peakfiddler are great! keep it up!
Many thanks!
Beautifully played. Thanks for posting!
Thanks for your rendition which made it so easy for me to learn the tune properly on my mandolin. Great pace.
It's a good story! And a well played jig. Thanks, Peak, for all you share.
Thank you Yomondo, glad that you enjoyed this version

@@peakfiddlerOh Sorry! My apologize for my mistake. Sorry, Peakfiddler.
It's not a problem Daisy, just made me smile, as I thought it was quite funny. Have a good day and thank you for your nice comment
@@peakfiddler sorry once more time. What a shame to myself! But thank you for understand my mistake, Peakfiddler.
Nice one, I like the moderate tempo, sounds great! Thanks, Peak !
J'aime beaucoup comment vous jouer cette jig, avec un tempo plus lent, c excellent ! Je suis du québec, et j'ai ajouté cette pièce à mon répertoire avec ma mandoline, it's another color given to that song ! Bravo !
i love the way you play this thanks
Thank you so much for your nice comment
Excellent!
Nice! Thanks for posting.
Lovely pace 👍
Nice sound. 😊🎻
I very much like this piece, the tempo, the playing. I play with a largely Celtic band called Hammer'd (we have up to five hammered dulcimers.) At Christmas we play a Middle Eastern gig, and believe it or not we switch up the tempo on Coleraine for a group of belly dancers, and it works! (Also relatively slow.)
That's something rather unusual. Sounds like a really fun gig, best wishes Peak.
@@peakfiddler Hi there, Peak. I've been exploring your many, many videos. Thanks so much!
Our belly dance version of Coleraine is even slower (if not more sedate, they're belly dancers after all) than yours. We do it with a RUM chukka RUM chukka rhythm (1 two and 3 four and) hitting the 1 and 3. It's a lot of fun. Best wishes, I'll be back.
Thanks again matey ..well played ..great video ...i will print the notation off now .. :)
You're welcome Michael
@@peakfiddler Thanks.. :)
Nice
👏👏👏
Love his one, there’s just something pleasing about playing it.
It sounds like you add a couple of little notes In the third or fourth measure? I’m not sure, but it sounds great, so I copy it.
Thank you
Sometimes it's hard to work out exactly what I do play, it just happens naturally, glad you like this one.
How long have you been playing? I am considering getting into learning the fiddle. I have been told it takes 12-18 months to begin to get the hang of it with moderate practice and 3-5 years to be considered good to go.
I have been playing since my late teens, which was quite long while ago.
