Pulsar Synthesis Basics - Max/MSP Tutorial

- Pulsar synthesis is a lesser-known variation on granular synthesis. It uses periodic oscillations between a waveform and silence to blur the borders of rhythm and timbre. In this video I build a basic pulsar synthesiser in Max/MSP, all by manipulating a simple sawtooth wave.

Thank you for detailed tutorial on Pulsar.
fantastic tutorial!
Eyyy thanks for the shoutout @ 1:23
❤❤ thanks for a helpful and inspiring video)
hmm I tried to replicate step by step but my sine wave is not behaving as expected on the scope. I then found out it is because i gave the cycle~ a non-zero default frequency value. Interesting to know cycle~ can work without a input to the frequency inlet.
Tasty as always
nice one
Thanks!
Thanks so much for this great tutorial. It really helped me understand the basis of Pulsar synthesis and how to develop a Max patch around it. I played around with this, experimenting with more features - then found that the GOST book has a section on Pulsar synthesis in gen~. I built a patch from that and combined some of these ideas - using a buffer, and randomness on the ratio value. Here is a performance improv using it: ruclips.net/video/Xk0ceWXeppg/видео.html
Thank you - really liked the improv!
Stimulating!
