      The late Mick Karn stated in his book that Sylvian diverted all the monies and due royalties to himself when in fact they were to be divided by the group Japan. I take an extremely dim view of that sort of behavior!

    My respect, admiration and love only grow towards this man. He is utterly true to his art and to the muses that sustain his artistry. He is quite simply an outstanding human being.

    I've always admired the way David gives interviews. His answers are always interesting and articulate that you end up appreciating the way his mind thinks and works, even if you personally disagree with him in some ways.

    As a healer I find David a man of light so Intune with himself the light of the universe which is In everything. The vibration of music the colour shapes of art do indeed heal if our hearts are open to this. He is a warrior true to himself and his pathway .
    His music is soulful healing..his voice has a wonderful vibration. He has his eyes to this world and others. We need more like him.x

    If the album had come under the title of 'Japan' it would have been a greater hit. But as they say a principle isn't a principle until it cost you money. That said, he is quite brilliant. Thank you so much for posting this.

    I have.loved Sylvian since quiet life was first performed on TOTP 1981/2 and have been hooked ever since. My family was imploding at the time and I found calm and revelation with Japan and DS. He is a healer for sure. . .my guru.

    The authentic artist treats and understands their talents as spiritual gifts, enabling self illumination and a seer-like ability to see the world as a revelatory phenomena. Artists of any real stature exemplify and embody such a capacity and use it to focus our minds on what is of truly enduring worth. David Sylvian is such an artist.

    I have read that Sylvian wasn't the best bandmate ever which i definetly do not like, but it doesn't change my view of Sylvian as a musician, singer-songwriter and composer. There are barely a handful of songs that he has written that i do not like. I couldn't care less if he is a ass or not, i dont know him in person so it labeling and judging someone as a bad person through other people's words is not my style and quite frankly, if you do that makes you an idiot. People also like to say that he is a "fake" philosopher that only cares about money and blah blah blah. Those people are definetly idiots.

    Interesting logic for how to name a band. I can definitely concur with it although I understand the other side as well. According to David even if the band or a band never broke up they should change their name if their essence has changed.

    • @sadderthanyou7793
      @sadderthanyou7793 6 лет назад

      Pretentious bullshit on Sylvian's part. I've heard what really happened was that Sylvian wanted most of the credits for the Rain Tree Crow project (again - he did the same thing with Japan). The other guys rebelled and he basically cut them off, locking himself with the material and finishing it off with his own money to again appear as a big music genius and he really isn't one. He changes collaborators so often because he doesn't want anybody to overshadow him.

    The name of the band really didn't matter towards the end in his opinion, i'm a fervent supporter of DS, no mind all the negativity regarding royalties, song ownership, his enflated ego (name one front man that didn't have one) but he got it wrong on this one. One last roll of the dice would have resulted in a legacy that today goes unnoticed, no mind say the critical acclaim and financial reward. It really is a pity but hindsight is always a great reward.

    On reflection Rain Tree Crow should have been marketed as Japan. They wouldn't have fallen out over lack of money for the project, nor disrespected the same group of people formerly known as Japan. Would have been a fitting end to that group and many more people would have found the music. I was both a Japan and Sylvian fan but had no idea this project existed or that it was Japan under a silly name. Can understand why he had to desert the UK and live in the US. How to piss off your best mates and collaborators.

    • @sadderthanyou7793
      @sadderthanyou7793 6 лет назад +2

      You see, Sylvian can pretend he's a great philosopher and spin bullshit for people, but what really happened was that the other guys waned a fair cut as band members and Sylvian wouldn't have it. He basically tore the project out of their hands to appear as the creator, pushing them into support roles.

      @@phantasm1004 You're an idiot if you really believe that. If that was the case, most history books should be burned since the authors "weren't there". At least educate yourself by reading Mick Karn's autobiography and confront it with the nonsense Sylvian's has been spewing for decades.
