    The seers sucker type might make a good pair of pants. I’m 68 and it does remind me of pants and skirts we wore back in highschool.

      I really like the idea of it as a lightweight bottom. I live in Mississippi and I’d get a lot of use out of something like that for a lot of the year!

      I was so pleasantly surprised by the bundle! It's taking everything in me not to immediately sew up the border embroidered fabric because I'm SO excited about it. It is definitely high on my priority list.

    I think the embroidered fabric could be cute with the embroidery on a yoke. You have alot of good pattern ideas for your fabric use. I think Stephanie Farrell has a good tutorial for a yoga waistband if you need it. I have been tempted to order the fabric bundle and ao far everyone Ive watched has had success with it. Thanks for sharing all your good ideas!!❤

      Oooo the embroidered yoke is a really fun idea! I used the fabric to make a blouse and pants matching set, but I somehow have more left. I have a lot of the embroidered bits especially so that would be really fun to play around with.
      Thank you for the tip on the tutorial also!

    That was so much fun! I think I have that charcoal grey polar tech knit. It was a purchase that turned out to not exactly be what I was thinking it would be. However, I still liked it and so did Rory, so it'll probably be a long sleeved tshirt for him :D I recognize that border print and it is so much prettier than I thought. Thanks for having such a great video!

      Oh yes! I do remember you getting that!
      It would be great for a long sleeved tee.
      I’ve been so nervous to buy a border print (how much do I get? How do I cut it and maximize the border? Etc etc) so I’m glad this was forced on me.

    Hi Erin! I love Fabric Mart bundles! I have gotten some weirdo fabric before, but the useful fabric I get is well worth the $21 (I always only buy them with $1 shipping too 😉). You got some great fabrics for sure. And look at you doing a burn test - wish I could figure that out.

    • @ErinSews
      @ErinSews  5 месяцев назад +2

      Yes! I remembered you saying before that you liked the bundles, and I’m so glad I trusted your opinion because it was such a fun way to get some new fabric (at an amazing value).
      Some people can *really* narrow down the fabric type using a burn test. I just know that if it catches fire quickly and doesn’t smell awful, then it’s natural. If it smells yucky and you end up with little melted plastic balls, then it has at least some synthetic component. That’s good enough for me 😂

  • @overthoughtseams

    Very nice mystery bundle! The border eyelet reminds me of M7742, a super breezy dress BUT since it probably won’t be enough, the raglan or the first McCalls one would be nice. I enjoy Fabric Mart’s mystery bundles (most of the time). I found they are very loose on their measuring, which is great, so you might have a little more than 11 yards!

    • @ErinSews
      @ErinSews  5 месяцев назад

      I was so surprised that everything was such a hit! I figured there would be at least one dud but I was happily wrong about that.
      Ooooo I don’t think I’ve noticed M7742 before. It looks so fun and floaty. I think I’m pretty set on the raglan but I need to lay some actually pattern pieces out on the fabric to get a better idea of what I can do. It’s so hard for me to eyeball it.
      They are definitely loose with their measuring! It makes sense to just kind of give whatever is left, but I still really appreciate it.

    Wow! I'm shocked Erin because ALL of your fabrics are winners! I have been shying away from these mystery bundles because when I watch other RUclipsrs hauls, there are usually only 1 or 2 fabrics I would like. You lucked out! I might try it now. The border print is my fave with the New Look top. I have that pattern too. I love all the other fabric too! ENJOY!

      I know! I couldn’t believe that everything was so good. I was worried some of the cuts would be too short or I would just get totally random stuff. For the price, it’s definitely worth the excitement and mystery, in my opinion. I’m excited to get going on the border print soon!

    For the buffalo plaid maybe use a solid black or solid red for the sleeves. This way you can make it a long sleeve shirt for your husband. OR switch it up and put the solid color on one side or on the back of the shirt.

    • @ErinSews
      @ErinSews  4 месяца назад

      My husband isn’t very big on color blocking but if he was, that would be a great way to stretch the fabric! I’ll definitely try to see if I can use a different fabric for the facings though. The front and back idea is a really creative one too! I think he might go for that

      I can picture that being a BEAUTIFUL S8872. It definitely lends itself to view B. Did you use the border at the bottom for the ruffle? I'm hoping to end up with a toddler and me combo too 😊😊

    That mystery bundle was a winner! You definitely got your money's worth. Would there be enough of the buffalo plaid to make pants for your husband to sleep in and wear with a black or gray t-shirt? I live in Pennsylvania, not too far from Fabric Mart, and went there last year - I was actually so excited about going I had a hard time sleeping the night before 😂! Your t-shirt got my attention - my daughter lives in Ann Arbor, but she avoids going anywhere near town on game days as it's so crazy.

    • @ErinSews
      @ErinSews  4 месяца назад

      It really is a shockingly good bundle!
      I need to lay some pattern pieces on the cut of fabric to see what there is space for. It’s so hard for me to envision it. I like the idea of sleep pants! They’d be great for the hot summers here in the South.
      Ahhhhh I’m so jealous! I totally understand why you’d have trouble sleeping the night before an event like that! Was it super overwhelming? I went to some large apparel fabric stores in Atlanta last month and it was so overwhelming.
      Oh cool! I’m a Michigan fan by marriage so I’m not die-hard by any means, but I do know to tell back “Go Blue!” and I love watching college football 🏈 I can only imagine the craziness in town on game days.

    for double border, something with 3/4 kimono style sleeve. or a tiered dress, make a matching for your daughter, or a peasant blouse with a double flounce skirt. I just found a new pattern name, Dana Marie, I am really liking them, but more for older women. the red plaid, you can always add a solid color cloth for placket and pockets or yolk.

    • @ErinSews
      @ErinSews  5 месяцев назад

      Thank you for the suggestions! I’ll definitely have to consider using a solid color to stretch the plaid.
      I googled Dana Marie and I like some of the tops but I agree that it seems aimed toward an older audience. I think that’s wonderful though, because a lot of pattern companies (big 4 and Indie) seem to cater to a younger audience and I’ve not seen many designs like Dana’s out there.

    The buffalo plaid you might have enough for a long sleeve shirt, it is 60 inch wide. Love the eyelet, would make a cute blouse for you and a dress or top for your baby. Excited to see them made up.

    • @ErinSews
      @ErinSews  5 месяцев назад

      I did a quick measurement against by cutting mat and I think the buffalo plaid is only 45”, but I definitely need to double check. If it’s 60” then that really opens up the possibilities.

    • @ErinSews
      @ErinSews  5 месяцев назад

      I potentially? I need to lay some actual pattern pieces on the fabric to get a better idea of what I can do with it. 3 yards SHOULD be enough for a simple dress depending the pattern pieces. I’ll have to play around with it!

    Lovely fabrics - I actually think the short sleeve buffalo plaid shirt looks great - of course I don't know your husband - does he look like the model in the picture?😂 If so then I think it's a winner 🏆
    As for the embroidery border fabric I like the raglan sleeve idea - I think it would look really good.

    • @ErinSews
      @ErinSews  5 месяцев назад +1

      My husband is a lot more fair than the model, but I keep looking at the screenshot and I can’t decide if I like it or not. I think I just have a long sleeved flannel so stuck in my head. The fabric was so inexpensive that maybe I’ll just go for it and see if he likes it!
      Raglan sleeve definitely seems to be the consensus in the comments and I agree. I think it’ll highlight the embroidery the best! Thanks for weighing in!
