Yesterday I acquired a 5000 C that, incredible as it seems, has never been used; It has no signs of use, scratches, etc. perfect box and manual. since it hasn't been used for years, I'm going to have the internal lubrication checked and start surfcasting. I've always used fixed coils and currently have a Stradic C 5000 XG; I've watched several videos and I hope I don't make bird nests; in my country they call it "hair".
I just acquired a 5000C and a 5500C via some horse trading for an old miter saw. I'm not sure who got the better deal, but I'm a sucker for "fishing stuff". At any rate, I don't know the first thing about either reel-what rod combo I should match them to, what they're best suited for, etc. I already have a handful of low profile reels, so I'm not looking for advice on what reels I should choose in lieu of these new acquisitions. I just want to know how these guys work and how to best use them. I can't seem to find any info on the operation of these reels or how they are best suited. Thanks for any insight you can provide.
My reel has a thumb cast button problem. When i push it down, the spool wont release. I have to keep the button pushed in order to cast. What could be causing that problem and how do i go about fixing it?
so when you had it apart, and the little center part that holds the smallest gear that touchs the spool shaft, you might have that housing upside down when you pushed that little cone gear back into it

Do you know what the part number or name of the screw is that goes into the top of the main shaft. The schematic on ABU website doesn't show it being on the 5000c but mine has it as well and I need a new one.
Anybody know where to get replacement parts for the 5000A? I checked online at ABU. The part I need says not available. I lost the nut that keeps the reel handle from wobbling over the drag star. Thank you.
Oh that really sucks. I watched this whole thing and you glazed over the part that I needed to see... what's under the left sidecap... the ORIENTATION of those parts related to drag adjustment, under the textured screw-on cap, opposite to the side with the handle...
@@lilcrow1992 look up the abu garica 6500 c3 2 speed, now thats a reel to run salt, auto shifts from 2nd gear to 1st gear when the fish starts to pull away from you, and back to 2nd when it runs at you so you can keep your line tight

Do you typically not put the brake bushings back on?
I like this model with the light coloured handles but they seem difficult to find. When were they made?
Thanks for watching!
Sorry I can't help you because I never seen the light colored handle.

First time, it's difficult for me.
