That solo sounded like someone just learning how to solo over Dani California. Love John’s playing, but sometimes I’m not sure why 😂

He seems to have been plagued by technical issues on several songs on these two Japan shows (especially the first one).

that's what John talked about several times as of now especially on the Broken records podcast - every time he's improvising he's taking some risk. While in the vast majority of cases something utterly amazing ends up being played, there are rare occasions when a solo might turn out not as great sounding as he would like it to be.
And as MrDarkcook said, the technical issues do not make John's playing better as they distract him.
