Now in a new 25-acre location, the zoo is bigger and better than ever! The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo was originally known as the “little zoo that could” following animal evacuations in advance of Hurricane Ivan, but it can now be called “the little zoo that grew!”
The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is home to over 300 animals, with plenty of opportunities for guests to interact with some of the local wildlife and their keepers! Additional entertainment opportunities include:
- The Soaring Eagle Zipline
- Safari rides
- Finding gemstones at the Mining Sleuth
Nothing compares to the animal encounters where you can feed giraffes and sloths, interact with lemurs, cuddle a baby kangaroo, or see how the animals have their meals prepped!

The Safari Club is also the first Green Certified restaurant in the state, meaning it has measures in place that reduce energy and food waste to protect the environment. You can even visit the Safari Club without admission to the zoo!
