You know what I’ve noticed watching tons of interviews of survivors who were injured, or those that lost someone? They all seem to be living in very modest homes. It seems that $1.75 million didn’t do much for the people that deserved so much more!
West Warwick isn’t a very wealthy town to begin with.
That money divided by everyone who was killed or injured does not amount to much with all the people involved.
Over half of the victims (surviving or otherwise) didn't have health insurance. I promise you that money went quick. At the time I was following articles about the survivors crowdsourcing to stave off bankruptcy and worse. I recall one woman was on the verge of losing her home, but I don't remember the outcome of her specific situation anymore. I know she was one of the people in a medically induced coma for at least a few weeks.
Most of the people were blue collar, modest means sorts of folks. That's why it's always stuck with me so much, even though I'm on the West Coast. My taste in music may be different but everything else about the club and the people hurt and killed was basically identical to the bulk of my friends. And I was close in age to a lot of the younger victims at the time so well familiar with crappy dive bars that look like death traps.
@@millahnna Yes, I hadn’t thought about medical expenses since I live in Canada. Makes it even worse that people would have had huge hospital bills from this.
@@HandbagDiva Totally. I have tons of friends in Europe and Canada and had to remind them about that. As much as I hate being in the states, I gotta admit that I get a twisted sense of satisfaction when y'all from more reasonable countries get a chance to get caught off guard by our nonsense medical situation here. It helps confirm for me that I'm not nuts and this nonsense isn't normal.
Blessings to them all from Arkansas to Rhode Island.
Such a sad sad tragedy! This story gets me every time being a fellow concert lover and human. All the people wanted to do do was rock and have a good time and it turned so tragic in a split second. My heart hurts for everyone to this day!!!
bless this family.
I go or try to go on the anniversaries. A couple years ago I met this couple who works a non-profit support agency that comes every anniversary and they brought their daughter with them. She was working holding the leash of their dog working as a support dog. She said that she hadn't even been born yet but clearly understands the impact.
RIP Buddy Howorth
What teacher would do that? Lord.
RIght? Didn't think to double check if any of their students were amongst the 60+ children who lost one or both parents in the fire? Just so thoughtless.
@mili lahnna i agree
Breaks my heart so badly
Sad tragedy. It was nice to see video of Carlton. You can see that his daughter has some demons she is working through.

I believe the saddest aspect of the Rhode Island Station fire was that the majority of the lost and of the injured were parents.
Suffice it to say I attended last month's 20th Anniversary Station Fire service, and happened to occupy the 'H' turntable section, which included the Hoogasian newlyweds, teacher Abby Hoisingten?, and of course Carlton Howorth. You, the deceased, and your next of kin, are in my prayers.
I get schools and other places using this footage for fire safety training but jfc did anyone think to check that anyone in the class was related to one of the victims first? Whatever teacher or administrator who signed off on that should really be ashamed of themselves.

This girl’s school showed footage of the Station fire and today’s kids need trigger warnings for “misgendering”.
Your choice to use this to exercise some of your prejudice says a lot about you, none of it good. Do you have any good in you at all?
@@AlexAlexon3897 No, I don’t.
