Honestly I think the best touch here is Key listening to heavy metal but he's waving along like its classical. Meaning listening to that kind of heavy music is more peaceful and relaxing to him than listening to LaShawn. What an incredible duo these two are. Their attention to detail is unmatched.

Funnily enough, Samuel does really sound like he’d be a pretty responsible parent. LaShawn seems like he’d be an… interesting one.
I think LaShawn would be a great parent. He'd accept and love any kind of kid, and enjoy life with them. He'd encourage their creativity and individuality with dress-up parade Tuesdays and sing-what-you're-doing Thursdays. With Samuel as the practical (if somewhat rigid) one, any kid would get the best of both worlds.

I had a friend who worked on the show. He said they amazingly were able to keep it together most of the time. Usually, it was someone laughing off camera that would force them to reshoot.

gaaah, you know that Sam has to love him, so wholly regardless of the way he acts sometimes. like, just look at the photo of them in the background during the insurance sketch. like even though every sketch has sam looking so frustrated with lashawn over EVERYTHING, almost like he's a hostage in their relationship, they're still together after years, and married and adopted a child, and you can see all the love there and like, just the way sam gets him, like coming up with the centaur thing and...
... like, I get that I'm getting super analytical and squishy and romantic over a comedy sketch but like, something about their relationship just touches me and makes me feel so warm and fuzzy because of the obvious deep love underneath all the eye rolling and exasperation and it just seems like such a rarely shown, valid and realistic and accurate portrayal of real, actual, messy, imperfectly perfect love in a long-term relationship that I just ... can't help but ramble incoherently on the interwebs about it. like I honestly come back and watch this compilation so so so so many times because of just how sweet and happy it makes me feel, on top of being funny as absolute fuck that I legit cry laughing so hard damn near every time.
Nah I totally agree. Sam has infinite patience and compassion, but also as silly and annoying as LeShawn is, you can tell it all comes from a good place. Like he's genuinely happy and excited about these ideas, its never meant to annoy Samuel. The way Sam gets excited over finally getting shared insurance, the way Leshawn tells Carousel to make her dad chamomile tea lol...it's all very sweet and real.
I was just thinking that as I watched it! All the other comments are like, "LaShawn must be freaky in bed..." but I literally saw it as, "This dude HAS to love him some LaShawn... like to the point where he has realized a LONG time ago that he can't live without him." He understands LaShawn in a way no one else seems to - like to the point where he can almost circumvent the delusion before it gets too crazy. (They got the child named Carousel, but she can't see the future...🤣) I honestly think LaShawn embodies everything Samuel wishes he could be: free, flamboyant, exuberant, full of life and not giving AF what anything thinks, and just optimistic about EVERYTHING. Some people think of costs when adopting multiple children, but LaShawn? "Sammy, we can get a set!" Even with the centaur thing, Sam was like, "NO, you will literally die if you do that...", and only when it wasn't getting through did he default to, "It's not covered by the insurance." This guy can't live without LaShawn. 😅
THIS. They're so absolutely enamoured with each other, and the way Samuel says hello to both of them, idk man. They're happy with their special needs child, and we can assume that Lashawn got more realistic expectations following adopting one to not immediately adopt a whole set. He's clearly over excitable, but since they always progress to the next stage of domestic bliss, they have to be doing something right.
Anyway, I want a series (possibly animated) centred around these two, Carousel and whatever other kids they adopt like yester-doodle.

That could be an interesting sequel series to this. They could flash-forward a little to LaShawn and Samuel being a little older and raising teenagers or even just have Key and Peele play the siblings (since they can play pretty much anyone).

Stereotypes have SOME basis in fact. There are plenty of gay men that are that "fabulous".
@@seraphimprince Stereotypes have no basics in facts, they are basics in observations. That's why people hate them because they aren't the commonality of the group/set but rather an observation of some characteristic of that set.
I.e: "Gay men are Feminine", not a fact but rather an observation of gay men who are Feminine. They aren't the majority or minority of the set. And because of that, as a stereotype - many gay men fight with themselves because they don't want to be Feminine - and then put feminine gay men down because they are seen as a Stereotype.
TL;DR: F**k Stereotypes of all kinds, Race, Gender, Sex or Nationality. They do more harm than good.
I know several gay couples, and every one of them has the "reasonable" and "free-minded" person in it. It is never two reasonable or two free-minded. So to me, this video is on spot.

As a Samuel-type who's married to a LaShawn-type, it's wild that people think Samuel's a closet straight man, as if gays can't feel existential dread at the thought of marriage and having kids. I, too, worry about cost and insurance but would love my eccentric partner even if he wanted to use said insurance just to be a centaur.

I love that Samuel doesn't yuck LaShawn's yum. It's always the logical approach but he never has an issue with who LaShawn is.
