When the world bends around, when the structures of a civilization falter, it is good to return to that which in history does not flex, but on the contrary recovers courage, gathers the separated, pacifies without bruising. It’s worth recalling that the genius of creation is also moving in an history devoted to the destruction
True....Check out: Thomas Cole, "The Course of Empire - Destruction & Desolation" (1833-36)
I've known the G Minor concerto for years but not this. A fine and worthwhile concerto.
Joyful harp music, a real gift to the world, from Parish-Elvars!
In my opinion Parish-Alvars composed the best Romantic harp concertos.
do you know of any other composers?!
Spohr composed a concert piece for violin and harp...not much of a concerto. Boieldieu's concerto sits the fence between Romantic and Classical. However, Carl Reinicke, Henriette Renié, and Rienhold Gliere did compose Romantic harp concertos that are good Romantic ones. I just think that Alver's are better.
Okay
Spohr actually composed two such works for Solo Violin and Harp with orchestra. Beautiful works, both of them.
I totally agree!
The mail coach in this painting still exists and was sold at auction recently.
I would have bought it. But € 148,850 without horses? No sir!
Bravo brilliance music super
The painting is from a time when "The Pickwick Papers" first came out .
So refined and elegant !
A very beautiful harp concerto.
Pretty cool concerto. I can't help but notice that the opening is almost exactly like that of Hummel's Trumpet Concerto. Same key and begins and ends the same way. No directly plagiarism, but it's really close.
