  • Today’s Video…
In this video, I talk about my experience in WGU’s Teacher’s College and Elementary Education Degree Program and why I decided I could not finish that degree with WGU. I ended up staying with WGU and changing my major back to Business Management. There were a lot of factors that went into that decision, and I am in no way saying WGU’S Teacher College is not a good option for others. It simply wasn’t the best option for me, but that has given me the opportunity to now share my alternative route certification process on RUclips. Stay tuned for my next video where I will give you more information on how to be a teacher using your states alternative route certification process if they offer one.

General managers of restaurants making a lot of money as well with opportunities to open their own restaurants especially if it is a franchise and being a teacher means you have great leadership, communication and prioritization skills. You can also train effectively.

These are typical requirements for all people studying to be teachers. This information is shared
with WGU students from the very beginning.

This information actually was not shared when I enrolled into the teachers college at WGU. It was shared after I had already changed majors and started my first semester in the teachers college. I'm sure if you enroll in a teaching degree from the very beginning of your wgu journey that they disclose some of this, but you don't find out about all the little things until you've already signed up for it.

@@breevickery469 I started working for WGU recently, and we make sure that new students are aware of the policy.

I think you'll be surprised how easily teaching experience will translate to business administration experience. You may just have to think about how to translate some of your skills on paper. I think WGU has a great career center as well! I'm in the MBA program at WGU. I got my bachelors in English from University of Louisville. My last term starts in August.

Hey I enjoyed your video! I just have a question how come you didn't consider the BAES program? It would allowed you to graduate with an Elementary education bachelor's but you wouldn't do the DT. Which means you would have to take the alt route.

At the time, when I made my decision to change my major I wasn't aware that I could do the BAES program with WGU. I wasn't told about that degree option until my request to change my major was already processed and had already happened and by then it was too late to go back and change to the BAES.

@@breevickery469 oh that's understandable. It seems like the BAES program is an undercover program lol. I only heard about it because of the different FB wgu groups I joined and I saw a couple of people mention it. My start date is next month! Good luck on finishing your degree!

@@icecold__ yeah I also didn't know about this route either. Apparently it's kind of frowned upon and you can't switch to the BAES route unless toy really can not do the DT. For example let's say your single mom with toddlers and your in a situation where you can't find childcare then you could switch over.

@@anikianauzinor7312 I didn’t know this was an option at WGU! I’m in my 2nd term at WGU. Do you think I would qualify for BAES program? (I’m a sahm of 3)

@@_melissaholguin it's something you would have to talk to your mentor about. I heard it's best to wait until you get closer to your methods class to discuss switching. I honestly wish I could do the DT but my husband has made it clear that we absolutely can't afford me to stop working for that amount of time.
