Strive 3v3 beta was an absolute blast. I would normally never buy a hectic mess like this, but having it as a less serious extra mode as an option is welcome in my opinion. At least ArcSys is trying something new and unique. If this is in development as a real DLC add on, then I hope 2v2 mode with the same system mechanics is an option. Waiting for a 3rd was the worst part of the beta. If they make it free to play for everyone and release it before Project L it would be quite a coup. Obviously the League hype train can not be derailed, but it'd still be funny if ArcSys swooped in like that.
People that don't play fighting games already have a hard time keeping up with what's going on in a normal game of strive, I can only imagine what kind of hieroglyphics they're seeing now 😂
That's the fun part of this mode: even experienced players don't know what's going on, so there's almost no barrier to entry for people that don't understand the base game. Even your literal 5 year old lil bro can do something here.
I enjoyed the game mode a lot. As a GL main my char works for darn near every team dynamic. The magic unlocks when everyone playing understands how to play. I ran with a slayer and axel and had an absolute blast and we went on a run! On the other hand Ran with a Chip and M.Rage and we lasted hardly a minute. Oh I also ran with two slayers and we TOD a chipp. I think they are on to something here. I’m assuming the assist powerups will be limited in the regular version and that should really clear up some of the chaos quite a bit. But yeah, running 3v3 and all players understand ggst, it was awesome.
While I enjoy the absolute chaos this 3v3 mode brings I kinda wish they'd do something more akin to the 4 player versus mode that was in Isuka. Now THAT would be amazing and fun too.
I think the one thing this game mode does well is making someone want to be on the sidelines. Cuz you have just as much of an impact if not more than those in the front. Not to mention some characters have great assist (like aba spamming dp with assist cuz holy hell the hit stun last forever).
I played this with a group made up of Asuka aba and nago and they are the best combo Aba's assist is insane and great for starting a combo Asuka can just keep them at bay And nago with force blood pop can just make and instant ko with his super it was awesome with my buddies and we are desperately waiting for the release of 3v3
DAYUMN or....what if they could do a 2v2 that has options. Like the player can choose to have a traditional assist/tag or another player...or 2 on the same screen at the same time. 1p with assist = the most damage 1p with player assist/tag = mid damage 1+2p on the screen = low damage Soooo..... you could have someone playing by themselves vs any of the other options.
"Brainlessly have fun", "As silly as possible" No. That's a bad excuse for a cluttered mess of a gamemode that will get boring within an hour once everyone understands how broken it is. It should be changed so that some level of strategy and comprehension is possible. It doesn't have to be "EVO level" or whatever people have been bullshitting about. It just has to be possible to run a gameplan and some counter strategies as a team. Which is why it needs some major changes. As it stands, it's not even really a gamemode, it's just the players, and the devs, fucking around. But I already filled out the Survey, so we'll see what happens.
This mode would be so much better if u cant use assists, just straight up 1v1 but with 3 people like King of fighters. Cause assist spams are cheap and not fun, (mortal kombat 1)
to attract more casuals, and give everyone something to do that isn't 1v1 sweating. Needs work tho, because you're right, it's completely braindead. Each teammate should have their own health/tension and be able to play in a round. Assists and Items need to be dailed way the fuck back if anyone is gonna be able to even move or do anything except wait for an assist to get a hit while you aren't getting stalled by something and try to snipe a 3 hit combo in before getting slapped by a Lake of Fire.
