Maya site No. 80. Uaxactún, Guatemala

Very important site of Petén, located inside the Tikal national park, is divided in two by the modern town of the same name. In the preclassic era it was one of the most important cities in the region, later it was subjugated by Tikal but maintained some importance. Here the first wake of Baktun 8 was found, and also the first astronomical set was identified, the famous group E gives name to all sets of this type in the Maya area.
