    Asking if anything was important or spoke to me... I feel like each one of your videos contains nuggets of advice and wisdom that all of us authors should take to heart. You're genuine and share your knowledge freely and openly. Your videos have made a world of difference with my publishing/writing. I'm on book #4 right now! Thank you for all you do and share!

    Thanks for a quick 5-tips S-P video. I had my first cover made via Fivver. After the first submission, I took a screen shot of similar books and asked him to "make it look like this". This saved me so much time that I could concentrate on the content between the cover. I am working my way up your list.

    Your words about marketing were really helpful!! I'm kinda dreading the idea of marketing my book, but thinking about it as just talking about a book I love actually makes it so much less stress inducing!!

    $15 for your course?? I’m in! 😀 I’m having so much fun with self publishing. And I’ve only published one book! I have my next book plus a freebie for my email list coming out in July and after that my next four are in their first draft! I’m having a blast with every step of the way. 📚📚🌟🌟🥰

    Good tips! I think being able to sell anything via RUclips or TikTok is predicated on your followers and how engaged they are. I lived and breathed RUclips for almost 2 years but never got anywhere with it. Now you’re taking a large chunk of your life for something that 99% of the time is not going to pan out. As for TikTok I put stuff out but it’s mostly hiking or workout driven. For either I’m not sure how me changing my content to talk about my book would go over. I’m guessing I’d get buried in the algorithm

    Thank you so much for all the amazing advice, Bethany! I'm in the “research everything” phase right now (even though it's looooong before I'm planning to self-publish the book). As an aspiring author, I find that I can get a little overwhelmed hearing advice from so many different authors. I have to constantly remind myself to take a breath and understand that building an author career takes time and patience. Loved your self-publishing tips, great content 💕
    Yaaaasss, marketing and establishing a fruitful author platform are my biggest struggle at this time. Excited to check out your videos on this!
    Love Jessica Brody/Writing Mastery courses - her courses were the encouragement I needed to start pushing towards making my dreams of being an author come true (through hard work and patience of course haha)! Will certainly check out your course!

    Please talk about how it is important to get a copyright for the book as recently I've read on reddit that author accounts are getting banned because unscrupulous actors are stealing their work and claiming it as their own.

    • @BethanyAtazadeh
      @BethanyAtazadeh  2 года назад +2

      Your work is copyrighted from the moment you write it. Filing a copyright in the US is just additional legal protection that’s optional. Never heard of these actors but that’s unfortunate.

    I often wonder how I achieved such an obscure life. The only thing that jumped out was Sleeping Beauty, my book contains Little Red Riding Hood. I've been talking on the internet since the very early 90's from ICQ to Usenet, it has been seven years that I've had a FB page and only have one 'friend' which does not talk. I'm running out of genres to test, not even science fiction historical fantasy people are interested. I could write a peer review paper, but I hear that even with credentials it is a chore. My favorite advice is to keep writing, your an author, actually I could write another, but why bother. Except for the prosperity of our species. In this genre at least it has lots of ancient stories for ideas.

    Just found your channel and this content is very helpful.
    I feel a bit overwhelmed by the speed of talking with few pauses though.
    It seems common to RUclips. I'm not sure why it's the trend on YT to radid fire a barrage of information; especially when it's important things to consider.
    I guess in this particular video it's not so much the speaking rate but rather that any and all pauses haven edited out so it feels like one single 14 minute long sentence.
    As a viewer, I feel the brain needs a beat to pause, process and reflect after each sentence or even clause. That's how we do it in face to face conversation. Why is it different in YT videos?
    Is it because the RUclipsr worries that viewers will flip another video if they are given a moment to think? Asking as I'm genuinely curious.

    • @BethanyAtazadeh
      @BethanyAtazadeh  2 года назад +1

      It’s because people click away on slower videos. Period. If you want to slow it down to a different pace, use the speed tool bar option to do that.

    • @NewsRedial
      @NewsRedial 2 года назад

      @@BethanyAtazadeh So weird. It's almost like YT videos are made for the Aderol generation.
      I've tried the video speed setting but it just makes the videos sound slurred.
      In yours, the speaking speed is fine but having no pauses makes it stressful to hear.
      I wonder how many also click away due to that.
      It's sad that people's lack of attention has a knock on effect of making people have to speak (or edit) with no pauses. It seems to me there has to be some other solution.

      I watch almost every video on at least 1.5X speed (except Bethany at 1.25, because she talks faster). I also have the Transcript screen open so that I can take notes and not have to rewind. Hope that helps!

    I have published my first book over a year ago on the amazon platform using the help of an external company. did nothing to promote it. nobody read it. I feel overwhelmed from all the technicalities I have to learn. as if I need the help of someone to arrange everything for me.

    • @BethanyAtazadeh
      @BethanyAtazadeh  2 года назад +1

      The technical side can definitely be overwhelming, but I promise if I can do it, so can you! I think no matter who publishes it though, it makes a huge difference if you promote it yourself, and take the time to learn marketing skills. It won't make the book take off overnight, but I'm here to say I've gone from a couple sales a month to hundreds a month, so it's possible!
