Star Convoy was stated in the magazine that the Battlestars story was published in to be 45 meters tall. At 45m, he would be 5m taller than Ultraman, 5m smaller than the Showa Godzilla, and almost 3 times taller than Devatator is in the G1 cartoon. I don't know exactly how big Metroplex or Trypticon are in the G1 cartoon, but I don't think saying they're roughly Kaiju sized would be terribly far off. Probably is close to Tidal Wave's larger scale from the Armada cartoon. He may not exactly be a cityformer, but he isn't as far off as you're saying he is. I think he is gonna be roughly the same size as United Tidal Wave, and probably is gonna include a deluxe scale Hot Rod/Rodimus or maybe they're gonna do something weird and give the cab a smaller robot using the Gen Selects release as justification. They're not gonna reduce the price on Titan Class even if the figures get smaller, they'll just do the Coronation Starscream approach and say the random junk they add in justifies the larger price.
@@frankspick7544 According to the Sunbow scale chart, Omega Supreme is only 18 metres tall, and yet, he's a whole Titan too, so I think Star Convoy does have potential

TBH, if you aren't going to make them gigantic, I just wouldn't use the Titan label at all: "Titan" has certain connotations that you just can't get with "commander/slightly bigger than commander with extras." It just seems a pointless dilution of the term, especially since there are still very big characters which could be justified as titans without being constrained to city-formers.
Omega Prime Haslab wasn’t supposed to start a precedent of selling a bunch of full toys together to fill out a price point… 😅 If TJ is right, it’s gonna be terrible for anyone that isn’t super rich. Cybertron Optimus + Wing Saber + Leobreaker would be absolutely perfect for a Titan box set. That's a Commander, Leader, and Deluxe respectively. And now you have additional budget to have fewer compromises with Wing Saber and Leobreaker. I previously thought those three would need to be a Haslab in order to be done correctly. However, I don't think Armada Optimus + Jetfire + Overload would have worked. Jetfire needs to be more than Leader class, and Overload is probably around Leader class (definitely more than a Voyager). There's probably a way for just Optimus and Jetfire to work as a Titan box set. Doesn't matter now anyway since we already have Armada Prime. Maybe you still do Armada Jetfire as Commander? + his mini-con + Prime's mini-con + a backpack to fill the hole in Prime's torso? I think you can get that to make sense. But like you said, they'd need to start doing multiple Commander's a year since combiners are eating those up now. Overall, I do very much like the idea of doing multi-packs at the higher class tiers for combiners, especially if that allows for more budget to get better figures than we would if they were released individually. Just look at Magmatron. I personally don't care for him, but everyone that gets it likes him and he's well done.
Yeah. Overload is a bit easier. His transformation wasn't that complex, and he doesn't need to do much other than be a backpack with the guns. Obviously keep the minicon forming the head and chest. But Jetfire needs to be both big, and to be articulated when he's pants, and that would really bring it up.
I personally hope we get a Titan Rail Racer, as three leader class figures that combine into a big modern rail racer. I think he could and should be a Titan for these reasons… 1: he was massive in the show compared to the other Autobots, even taller then Optimus. 2: individual releases of Railspike, Rapid Run and Midnight Express wouldn’t sell well. So basically a Titan class 3 pack would probably be more viable. 3: he’d go well with the new Sideburn, Tow Line, the upcoming Omega Prime and the upcoming Sky Byte. 4: the original rail racer, while not bad, is pretty dated, and could use an update. Maybe if they go for the 3 leader sized figures route like I’m suggesting, the remaining budget could be allocated to making the engineering and posability for the 3 figures and their combined form really good and high quality, and maybe some extra paint.
About commander slots, we likely will start getting two commanders a year soon, with the 86 line coming to an end, Hasbro will want to keep that double commander money coming, and all they would have to do is change the box art on that second commander they've already been releasing

Happy to get a version of star convoy. My biggest concern is hasbro will attempt to sale a smaller toy at 200 price mark with out any extras, it probably will not have tiny rodimus if they follow their current trend.
I am hoping for Commander size on Star Convoy, with them giving it an actually good motor that can pull the future Grandus that gets released whenever, and/or a removable cab that can transform like the Generations Selects Leader class Star Convoy. Potentially also having it where Star Convoy, Grandus, and Sky Garry can combine in robot mode, as some fan pictures have done. If any Mini-Con deserves to be smol-Titan, it should be him - G1 Cyclonus: again, I know, but remember, there's one feat he's famous for in the movie we never got in any toy; we never got one big enough for Galvatron to ride in, not even a Core Class one
I just feel this sets a bad precedent. "OH, Springer has 10 more parts now, well make some extra accessories and charge him $20 more:"Oh Star Optimus is slightly too complex for Commander" just add some extra accessories and make him TITAN" I remember everyone complaining about SS 2007 Jazz being too small, but now we have SS 86 Bumblebee who is 100% not worth the $25 at all. $15 maybe, but not $25.
My guess is this titan might have more gimmicks than the other titans and maybe he’ll come with grandus. It could be a Hasbro attempt to justify the cost. At the end of the day he’s just an over sized semi truck with a sub par base mode. But I’ll take all the Japanese releases I can get my hands on
I really, REALLY hope that Star Convoy is sold in a 3-pack with Grandus and Sky Garry, since this will allow fans/collectors to get modern figures of the G1 Battle Stars.
I think hasbro just needs to get the last few Titans that we're missing out of the way and then drop the class to have 2-3 commanders a year, then they can just re-release the titans that exist for a few years before kicking titan class back into production. I've never cared for titans much anyways so I'd be estatic if we got more commanders instead of titans.
Also they could just upscale Star Convoy. Make the cab still be regular Optimus Prime but make that be a voyager class sized toy, then have the Star Convoy mode be Commander Class size but due to extra part count, engineering, and what not the toy would be titan price.
I personally wish we could get Voyager sized Titan characters a la Games Workshop Epic Scale. They could then be redecoed as normal scale guys like Gigastorm or Peritus Maximus or IDW and Marvel Scorponok and Fort Max or Double Punch or Omega SPREEM, in addition to Demon General retools or Core scaled versions of Micromaster Combiners.
People still think Class refers to the size instead of a price point. I'm not surprised by the news and knew this was coming to the Titan Class like it has to the other Class's
I feel like energon optimus/wing saber would end up being a haslab rather than retail given overall public opinion on energon. They'd need to do a titan energon omega supreme to go with prime too which would take up another slot, seeing as we don't even have armada jetfire or overload yet all of this seems like wishful thinking though. Really hope hasbro doesn't shift titan class all the way to this kind of stuff without doing the literal titans in the franchise they have yet to get to (I am coping that Croaton will get a titan class figure)
Based on this trend, this could mean that _Stormbringer_ Thunderwing may end up in this new and revised Titan slot considering how insanely gigantic he was compared to everyone else and the fact that he's got an Ultra Mode from his jet kibble.
if the Cybertron Optimus 3-pack does come to be, then I hope they figure out how to combine both Leobreaker and Wingsaber onto Optimus at the same time
A modern remake of Energon Optimus Prime, Wingsaber and Omaga Supreme at commander, leader & Titan would all have to be released in one year. Don't think they will but it would be nice. Unless Prime and Wingsaber are released in a titan 2 pack, then its 2 years we get Energon Titan figures, because Omega will be a titan on his own.
LOL (Thinking of you there, HasLab Omega Convoy!) 😆 🤣 😂 😹 That's a great shot of the original G1 Rescue Patrol Micromasters there, TJ! (Still have 'em all in great condition.) Did you know there are noticeable differences between the OGs and their newer Takara Kabaya issue versions? Yup, I could spot the variance even without using my trustee magnifying glass! (And the Kabaya ones transform far more smoothly too!) HasTakTom wants to (finally) sell us consumers the age-old notion that 'Great things come in small packages'. 😂🎉 It is all about associating the product with the 'idea of greatness' and then putting an equivalent price tag on it. 😊 Dreamers continue to live in the 'virtual' after all... 😅
To whoever did the Starcream shout out today... I have a funny voice recording for you I did a while ago... never actually uploaded it to RUclips cause I need a funny video to go with it. I disagree that Wing Saber would die a death at retail. And I don't think it would sell better in a box set than being sold individually. The whole appeal of Energon Wing Saber is the ability to combine with Optimus Prime and he's going to sell just for that reason. The real issue is that trying to sell those figures together in a box set is going to be a lot of money up front and a lot of people can't afford that anymore. If you space out the releases so they're at least a month apart that is a lot easier to manage 2 releases at a lower price than 1 release an absurdly high price. Technically it's the same amount either way but spacing it out is easier to manage than doing it all at once. The only combiner set I could see this working with is the Battle Stars because they don't really have a combined robot mode. Their combined mode doesn't have the same appeal. And Grandus I think would die a death if released individually. I'm almost anticipating that Titan Star Convoy isn't just Optimus Prime by himself but is actually including Grandus and Sky Garry with him. The three of them together basically are a city. Star Convoy could sell as a commander on his own. Sky Garry could be a voyager or a leader on his own MAYBE. But Grandus, big chonky boy over there just does not look good in any of his modes so literally I think they only way they can sell him is to make all three a Titan class release.
I disagree with your view on scale for Star Convoy. If you go back and look at how the scales are played out what you will find is that starting with headmasters the transformers gradually got bigger and bigger. Micromasters weren't actually tiny robots. By the time they came about they were depicted as full size vehicles and thus full size Autobots. They were roughly the same size as the Datsun brothers or possibly as big as Ironhide.... eh that may be a stretch. But looking at Ginrai his "base mode" was the Autobot headquarters. Albeit a mobile battle station. In Victory the Decepticons used Skystalker and the Autobots had the Countdown base with star saber able to walk around inside. So knowing he's huge, those micromasters per sey are regular bot size and the bases massive. Dai Atlas was depicted as being a bit bigger still. And the Battlestars are all even larger. Thus Star Convoy and Grandus must 100% be at the titan level. Let's not forget Trypticon and Black Zarak (both titans) were part of the Destron Generals and Dai Atlas was close to their size. So Star Convoy would be larger. Grandus should be bigger still officially.
What I’m expecting out of Titan Star Convoy: -16 inches tall (so he’s bigger than a Commander but smaller than past Titans) -base mode compatibility w/ Earthrise and onward ramps and bases (I just want Ironworks and Airwave to matter again; might happen because Warden’s back on board) -good articulation (he better be on par with Legacy Megalo Convoy and Evolution Nemesis) -Micromaster Hot Rod (surely there’s enough budget in there for him with SC being smaller than normal)
I for one don't want to see more Menasor-style combiners with the Commander center having the entire frame and the rest of the characters just being clipped onto it. I liked the finished look of it, but I wasn't fond of the design choice. The photo you used made me remember how happy gigantic Titan-sized Devastator made me, though.
Bro now voyagers are deluxes with extra, leaders are voyagers with extra, commanders were leaders with extra, now are titans gonna be commanders with extras? They better include all of the other micro masters that weren’t made so we can have the full 4 members teams
Commander armada and 86 Optimus are both voyager ish sized figures with a trailer that does something now that scales to titan class will be interesting. It’s odd he’s a titan as besides a giant Optimus or a large multipack what could you do besides that justifies the titan price? The next titan is lined up to be an autobot and star convoy will be interesting to see if it is him
At least in Zone they made repainted Metroplex to create Metrotitan for Decepticon that year. In 1991 Return of Convoy, Japan had no toy Decepticons to play against the Battlestar Autobots which was a bummer. Heck, I would have taken a repainted Quicskswitch as a Decepticon.
It took us until the retool of TR Galvatron to get a Super/Ultra Megatron. Actually that might be another potential future Titan. Keep him around Star Convoy in size, and have the budget to do the ability to have both the Super and Ultra Megatron modes. Or go crazy and all the ones the Japanese designers kept adding.
The problem here is you're using toy scale instead of fiction scale. If that was what decided scale for new toys than Omega Supreme, and Tidalwave would've been commander class
@mattr75 They're going to have to come up with a different name first, because Hasbro is apparently convinced Westerners won't buy a toy named Convoy and "Big Prime" would be a joke.
@@jameszetterman4487 The name Slammoth has been used by some sources for him. I think you could do both of them in Leader, though BW II Galvatron might be better off in Commander.
If Age of the Primes is doing the Aerialbots, Protectobots, and Combaticons, then the next trilogy would theoretically be Technobots, Terrorcons and ? Seacons? Predacons? Trainbots?
If you want a Titan Class Transformers figure do Energon Omega Supreme that will be a good Titan Class figure plus if Hasbro releases a new Energon Optimus Prime that can combine with Omega Supreme it will be cool also a new Wing Saber will be good too
I never realized how many cues Animated Optimus took from Star Convoy. If it weren't for this announcement, they probably could've used the Animated Voyager for the basis of a Leader or Commander.
I like where your head is at, TJ. But let's be brutally honest: Hasbro won't go to that level of effort. It's just going to be a smaller Titan class at the same price point as larger entries because there are people that will buy anything and everything. And so long as the whales and sheep keep shilling enough money out to keep investors happy each quarter, Hasbro won't do anything differently.
If they do make a new Metroplex they'd also need to figure out how to do his companions. We already got Six Gun and Slammer, but I think they heed to be redone in cartoon accurate colors to match the aesthetic. As for Scamper, they could probably use Kingdom Sideswipe for him. As for the release, maybe they'd be packaged in with Metroplex or as a separate 3-pack.

- G1 Cyclonus: again, I know, but remember, there's one feat he's famous for in the movie we never got in any toy; we never got one big enough for Galvatron to ride in, not even a Core Class one
We definitely need a new improved version of Cybertron 2005 Optimus Prime .
Yes we need a titan Animated Omega Supreme!!! I always wanted that as a toy when I watched that episode!
The first Optimus Prime has a Base Mode, with the Trailer, and Sta Convoy also has a Base Mode. Neither should be considered Cityformers!
I just feel this sets a bad precedent. "OH, Springer has 10 more parts now, well make some extra accessories and charge him $20 more:"Oh Star Optimus is slightly too complex for Commander" just add some extra accessories and make him TITAN"
I remember everyone complaining about SS 2007 Jazz being too small, but now we have SS 86 Bumblebee who is 100% not worth the $25 at all. $15 maybe, but not $25.
I like the idea of Dai Atlas and his other two partners. I'd love an amazing God Ginrai and Overlord that are as good as Deathsaurus and Victory Saber
My guess is this titan might have more gimmicks than the other titans and maybe he’ll come with grandus. It could be a Hasbro attempt to justify the cost. At the end of the day he’s just an over sized semi truck with a sub par base mode. But I’ll take all the Japanese releases I can get my hands on
Doing a video explaining G1 Convoy Japanese continuity sounds like a great idea to me.
I really, REALLY hope that Star Convoy is sold in a 3-pack with Grandus and Sky Garry, since this will allow fans/collectors to get modern figures of the G1 Battle Stars.
6:47 i tell myself that everytime i see what Star Saber and Deathsaurus go for now
I think hasbro just needs to get the last few Titans that we're missing out of the way and then drop the class to have 2-3 commanders a year, then they can just re-release the titans that exist for a few years before kicking titan class back into production.
Broadside FOC or G1 Titan would be cool also G1 Metroplex an FOC metroplex reissue and a WFC Omega Supreme and Trypticon lots of Titans Iaconus Etc.
So I was right to avoid the Omega Prime Haslab like the plague. Now that Hasbro has been given an inch, they're proceeding to take a mile.
My unpopular opinion; I like base modes. I'm excited for Star Convoy!
He's a base, not a city. Still nice to get a version of him.
People still think Class refers to the size instead of a price point. I'm not surprised by the news and knew this was coming to the Titan Class like it has to the other Class's
Star convoy does change everything! hell yeah!🎉🎉🎉
I want a new space warp and overload so badly, ultra magnus would also be nice
Cybertron Megatron/Optimus being Titan class would make me lose my sh!t.
Some one on twitter mentioned how This titan OP makes RID prime make less sense as a haslab.
New Combaticon molds? I require a new Ruination...
Star Convoy fits perfectly in Titan class, his 45 meters tall.
I get the title of ‘Titan’, maybe it’ll include electronics but who knows
Animated Omega Supreme is gonna be the new Unicron, We are gonna wait 20 years between it appearing on screen and getting its first figure
I was hoping RID Megatron would come next as a commander
if the Cybertron Optimus 3-pack does come to be, then I hope they figure out how to combine both Leobreaker and Wingsaber onto Optimus at the same time
Titan Star Convoy is gonna be the equivalent of what Rodimus Prime has been for the commander class
At that point we should go from
Deluxe/Voyager/Leader/Commander/SUPREME/titan
A modern remake of Energon Optimus Prime, Wingsaber and Omaga Supreme at commander, leader & Titan would all have to be released in one year. Don't think they will but it would be nice. Unless Prime and Wingsaber are released in a titan 2 pack, then its 2 years we get Energon Titan figures, because Omega will be a titan on his own.
Hasbro should make a life-sized titan class Moon (Beast Wars II)
LOL (Thinking of you there, HasLab Omega Convoy!)
😆 🤣 😂 😹
That's a great shot of the original G1 Rescue Patrol Micromasters there, TJ! (Still have 'em all in great condition.) Did you know there are noticeable differences between the OGs and their newer Takara Kabaya issue versions? Yup, I could spot the variance even without using my trustee magnifying glass! (And the Kabaya ones transform far more smoothly too!)
HasTakTom wants to (finally) sell us consumers the age-old notion that 'Great things come in small packages'. 😂🎉
It is all about associating the product with the 'idea of greatness' and then putting an equivalent price tag on it. 😊
Dreamers continue to live in the 'virtual' after all... 😅
OH MY GOD
LIOKAISER MAY FINALLY HAVE A PLACE TO SHINE!!!!!
Sounds like they are looking at Titan class as more of the price point than a scale thing.
TJ Star Convoy is like three times taller than Devastator. I think he will be fine as a titan
What I’m expecting out of Titan Star Convoy:
-16 inches tall (so he’s bigger than a Commander but smaller than past Titans)
-base mode compatibility w/ Earthrise and onward ramps and bases (I just want Ironworks and Airwave to matter again; might happen because Warden’s back on board)
-good articulation (he better be on par with Legacy Megalo Convoy and Evolution Nemesis)
-Micromaster Hot Rod (surely there’s enough budget in there for him with SC being smaller than normal)
Didn't they have a generations select galaxy upgrade Star Convoy a few years back?
I for one don't want to see more Menasor-style combiners with the Commander center having the entire frame and the rest of the characters just being clipped onto it. I liked the finished look of it, but I wasn't fond of the design choice. The photo you used made me remember how happy gigantic Titan-sized Devastator made me, though.
How about the Titan package of Grandus and Sky Garry ? Since Grandus has the easiest transformation.
Bro now voyagers are deluxes with extra, leaders are voyagers with extra, commanders were leaders with extra, now are titans gonna be commanders with extras?
They better include all of the other micro masters that weren’t made so we can have the full 4 members teams
Maybe with this change I won't have to build a custom titan Spanner.
Commander armada and 86 Optimus are both voyager ish sized figures with a trailer that does something now that scales to titan class will be interesting. It’s odd he’s a titan as besides a giant Optimus or a large multipack what could you do besides that justifies the titan price?
The next titan is lined up to be an autobot and star convoy will be interesting to see if it is him
The SS86 Optimus alone is leader class without his trailer...you must not have seen the pics of him standing next to Kingdom Rodimus
Maybe Star’s Cream is a type of Anti-Scraplet Ointment?
5:31 it would be like he fitting in with the small micro Master hot wheels. Those tiny little toys. That would fit with the big giant Titan. ?
Im down to buy basically 2 commanders plus some other plastic stuff at $200!
They could do Rail Racer from R.I.D. 2001 as a titan.
5:49 dontcha mean Convoy-luted?
Star Convoy + Grandus
The problem here is you're using toy scale instead of fiction scale. If that was what decided scale for new toys than Omega Supreme, and Tidalwave would've been commander class
Star Convoy a Titan class?!
So, by this logic, would that be the way to get Big Convoy and BW II Galvatron, or would they just be leaders/Commander class figures?
@mattr75 They're going to have to come up with a different name first, because Hasbro is apparently convinced Westerners won't buy a toy named Convoy and "Big Prime" would be a joke.
@@jameszetterman4487 The name Slammoth has been used by some sources for him. I think you could do both of them in Leader, though BW II Galvatron might be better off in Commander.
Sell Cybertron Megatron in a box set with dead Hotshot, Red Alert, and Scattorshot
So, fix it went from part of the rescue patrol to a caretaker mini-con on the prison ship Alkamor in robots in disguise.
One of many odd choices of RID15/BB Adventure.
But the designs are amazing.
If its not going to be as big a Metroplex then its NOT "titan" as far as im concerned.
Just give me Armada Jetfire, Hasbro. I don’t care about your scaling escapades.
He better be as Big as Tidal Wave.
honestly tidal wave was a pretty small titan so i hope hes at least a tiny bit bigger but idk
@@yiyan7473 Depends. If they do drop the price point down, I'd imagine he'd have to be smaller.
@@yiyan7473Devastator was also Small for a Titan
Same size as Armada Prime is fine with me.
If Age of the Primes is doing the Aerialbots, Protectobots, and Combaticons, then the next trilogy would theoretically be Technobots, Terrorcons and ?
Seacons?
Predacons?
Trainbots?
Could we get Roadceaser and Liokaiser?
If you want a Titan Class Transformers figure do Energon Omega Supreme that will be a good Titan Class figure plus if Hasbro releases a new Energon Optimus Prime that can combine with Omega Supreme it will be cool also a new Wing Saber will be good too
I do want see a new metrotitan figure.
How is he not a city former if he can tow Grandus?
RID Megatron would be nice
I never realized how many cues Animated Optimus took from Star Convoy. If it weren't for this announcement, they probably could've used the Animated Voyager for the basis of a Leader or Commander.
Nah optimus make take a lot of inspiration but they are still in 2 completely different styles
If they make optimus prime a titan will they also make Megatron one to
I like where your head is at, TJ.
Welcome to the world of third-party, where you pay leader prices for legend class figures… really good mini-masterpiece legends figures.
