- We've had the Mini for a while, but haven't put a ton of miles on it and finally decided to do a range test. How well does the 114 mile EPA rated Mini Cooper SE do on the interstate in the real world?

We have two of these in our household including my 23 Sig + I picked up a month ago. Awesome little cars. So much character.
We love our Mini Cooper SE. it’s the companion to our model Y. In a month we put 1,000 miles on the mini
Great job sir. You are both very brave doing that test on the mimi. Fun car to drive.
mini
love the colour great usefull video thx subbed
Love my Cooper S E Level 3 here in Scotland - it arrived from the factory in November 2021 after 2 months from ordering which was a big surprise when I was expecting a February 2022 delivery. !! It’s a 2nd car for me (other one is a Land Rover Defender 2020MY) but is the one used most now mainly because public charging is free on 50KW public chargers where I live and diesel for the Defender is just short of £2 a litre…… I also charge the Mini from my domestic solar panels at this time of the year - I’ve spent £22 on charging since November and driven 5700 miles……….. I’m regularly seeing 135 miles on a summer charge - often 4.8-5.0 m/kWH with next to no motorway driving. I use the Sport mode regularly because it’s just sooooooooo much fun.
Is the charging still free?
We ordered one as our first EV and to compliment our 2019 ICE S
Clearly this car wasn't built as highway driving car. I mean this is a great video for a quick RUclips content video over getting a true range around town which the car was essentially built for, being able to utilize the regen braking and such. It'd be nice to see a more "realistic" range test using speeds between 25-60 mph which is more in line of what the car was built for.
I have a 2021 model and frequently get ~130 on one tank if I ease back to ~65MPH on the motorway and put it in Green mode.
Nice review. Can you switch off the regen braking?
You can turn it down
Is it recommended to charge the Mini up to 100% every day, or 80% like in Tesla’s?
Does your Mini electric have adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist? I noticed on your dash. We are waiting for our order, but didn’t see adaptive cruise control as an option (at least in the US)
Adaptive cruise, yes. Lane keep, no. Only lane departure warning
@@brandenflasch awesome. Thank you. :)
@@brandenflasch is it an add on package? We have ordered the Iconic trim but the Mini dealer I am dealing with said, Minis don’t come with Adaptive cruise control. Please lmk and I will check my build
Since you’ve had this car for a while now how about a video from Kalie telling us all the things she likes and dislikes about the car. We have had 3 Mini Coopers and loved driving them. We looked at getting one of these to replace my wife’s 2007 but the Mini dealer here was not interested in getting any. My wife test drove a 2022 Bolt EV 2LT and fell in love with it but we still love Mini.
Coming soon :)
We have a Mini Cooper se and love it. You can charge to 100% every day. My wife drives to work and back and it’s charged up before dinner.
@@Chrisb8s you shouldnt. its not lfp.
@@laloajuria4678 100% isn’t truly 100%. It’s fine.
@@laloajuria4678 you can charge the Mini to 100% everyday because they put in a big buffer at the top of the battery.. the sales person specifically said "this is not like a tesla, it won't harm the battery to charge to 100" you don't get the full use of the battery at the top or bottom in the Mini, but it will last longer
Did you get any uphill climb or strong wind during your test?
Nothing too crazy and should be mostly canceled out with doing the loop-style test
@@brandenflasch I ordered my mini Cooper se delivery 3 to 6 months ..my commute is 66 miles both ways I hope it's has enough range
That’s going to be somewhat tight but doable.
Level 2 ac charging speed? 30 miles per hour?
48A / 11.5kW
$21k after federal and local rebates is a bargain for this car.
I like your video, don't like the range. Think 250 miles would be the least max to make it worth buying.. grand kids are over 75 miles away. Not enough charging stations around right now. My 2013 mini gets 35 mpg. Will get a golf cart more that range.
Can you turn off all of the purple LEDs? That would annoy the crap out of me.
You can change the colors
Nice real world test.
City hwy mix about 125 miles I've been seeing.
The Mazda has 100 miles of range, so less than this car.
MX30 is only available in California and they've only sold about 500 units, so I'm not sure that truly counts. This is available everywhere and has sold 10s of thousands.
@@brandenflasch I agree, when we got ours in Scottadale, there were 9 others waiting for customers.. it's a great second car for around town. a bit of a luxury to be honest, but if one person goes back and forth to work everyday, it literally pays for itself
@@brandenflasch MX-TURDY is officially sold out. Good riddance - way too expensive for a 100 mile range CUV. Mini at least has character and is super fun to drive.
Ion my hometown lol😂
I'd consider one with 200 miles of range, but as is, this is only suitable as a commuter.
It's a great second car, as most Mini Coopers are anyway. We have 1800 miles on this after a year... it barely gets charged once a month. ~100 miles of range is more than enough.
its literally supposed to be a commuter.
@@brandenflasch I can't believe you only have 1800 miles on it. We drive the daylights out of ours, my son has done 20k in a year, I've got 15k and my wife has 10k. Yes...we have 3 SEs in the family...all performing very well. Best range so far 140 miles...on mixed roads. We get less range consistently on flat, constant driving.
Og she fit into the Mini! Miracle! Does not suit her btw.
Let’s see. A 100 mile range EV. Why drive at 70 mph? Why not 60 mph? The car should go further and require less time to recharge.
No. Driving faster is more effective for overall time.
Good video. You can't drive 60 mph on Florida highways. I would like to see a video using the test speed of 75 mph.
