Every mogwai song is missing something when it plays for the first time. It's after several times that you realise it has everything it needs. That is the magic of mogwai.
The beauty of Post-rock is that it actually gives you the freedom to interpret your own thoughts of what the song is about. Just if you don't flow with the titles, you are the lyricist of each track you hear. This song is so uplifting. So damn good.
What a nice surprise. I've been a Mogwai fan since 2012 when they played in Buenos Aires and blew me away. But I didn't know this song, and hearing it play over pictures of my country is amazing! Thanks for uploading :)
I play this song to my 3 year old some days & he loves it, starts air guitaring & Ive never showed him how. It must be in the music. Bravo Mogwai & Dylan.
That's absolutely perfect. And it's so true. I find myself listening through a Mogwai album and then I'll listen to a song again that I didn't really remember and fall in COMPLETE love with it. This is one of those songs.
My favorite thing about Mogwai is that every song affects us differently. Some get emotional on songs like this while others aren't moved to that degree. Either way we all have a damn good response to it.
This song and video combination makes me think of all the beautiful things in this world that I want to see and experience before my time here is up. Including a drive from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego.
Hi. (that's my first comment on a comment on that strange portal at all) - I just felt that now is the right time to say that your comment made my day about a year ago... and since then I thought about it again and again... I think I stay, too.
Awesome band, I saw them play a few weeks ago in Dublin. Its funny, you feel you know every song yet you've probably never heard it before. Last time I got that was at the bloody Violet Femmes.
si a me son piaciuti un sacco,ma credo che siano ancora solo qui su youtube, tipo una versione "prova" poi amo questo genere di musica!!!se hai altri gruppi da consigliarmi,ne son contenta!!
A lot of art shares the common characteristic of taking something that is habitual or something that is a recognized pattern/idiom/paradigm and throwing a wrench into the works so to kind of light a spark in the viewer/listener. "Wow, that's unusal!" Post rock, at the start, did this as a genre -- take the typical rock band, delete the singer, and express the emotion solely with the instruments! Now, though, post-rock has developed as a genre fully enough that we want MORE!
Awesome song. Agree with and love comment below about post-rock giving you the freedom to interpret your own meaning. Also, nice Scottish touch with the D drone throughout the song
I love how on every Mogwai song i see on youtube, comments are almost always so true, deep, and mature. mainstream has people simple-minded. mainstream has nothing more then a couple of meaningless words: baby, baby, baby, oh... like WTF?... my point: mogwai all the way, we dont need meaningless words.. some mogwai songs do.. but at least these words have good music to back it up, instead of computer generated beats and garbage
Everyone feels music differently. Who are you to judge how he felt about it? The video works for him, and for me. Not for you. There is no right or wrong in this situation, just feelings on an individual level.
@cstubing Hey I couldnt agree with you more ! Until I read your other post. You present a strong case. I seem to find myself explaining to ppl why my songs dont have any singing in it, and Ive come to the conclusion that many of those who find post/psych rock appealing are into the meditative experience- into a trance like state. My latest theory is now that if u like rave/trance u shud theoratically like this too. I-IV-I-IV without the big bass beats. Kudos 4 presenting a rational argument
That'd be great. It took me forever to track down a digital version of D to E, and I don't have this brilliant song or Star Wars, either. A rarities collection is definitely justified. Does anyone else feel like maybe this song was turned into "Sun Smells Too Loud"? There are definitely similarities.
And the MORE that I'm referring to is an extension of that concept of breaking the bonds of the typical....breaking the mold.. This song, to someone studied in music theory, has an ultra simple harmonic progression. I-IV-I-IV (and repeat the entire song). So, albatrash, for me.. that sums up what's missing -- I want something more intellectually challenging. Check out Do Make Say Think for some music a little more in that direction.
n argentinian reporting here :) wonderfull band and great images too. now I can only think about traveling through these places and playing there with my band. please check out us. Acantilados
@gubaification Yeah I wish I was able to improve the quality and make it HD but unfortunately that's not possible: I uploaded it before RUclips offered any HD options. Bit of a shame really
You can download it for free from wearedreamers (and hypem), that's what I did. But if you want a cd you can order Plan B magazine's April issue, it's attached as a Rock Action spring sampler cd. Google "Order Plan B" Hope that helps, I'm glad people enjoy the song & video and I'm amazed at how much views it gets.
@noahisawesome Stars of The lid. ACTUALLY, if the stars had a sound... it would be ORBITAL- HALYCON ON & ON my friend, PLEASE listen if you havent already. =]
well, the post rock genre requires an element of subtlety to fly - if it were all just catchy tunes -- why not just call it pop? or rock? true they had some really ripping riffs, but the soft stuff grows on you. just my opinion.
Seriously man. I love post rock more then anything. And labeling this song with these sorry pictures of so called "Beauty" Is ridiculous. This song Is amasing dont get me wrong, But its like a metal band playing a sigur ros song....just doesn't mix.
tool-esque. not what they used to be (oh yeah these guys were better than tool they were the best band around)...not lately. btw this track rules more than anythin else from their last album
Every mogwai song is missing something when it plays for the first time. It's after several times that you realise it has everything it needs. That is the magic of mogwai.
I really wish this song was on Spotify. God, what a masterpiece. The layering, the pacing. Simply brilliant.
The beauty of Post-rock is that it actually gives you the freedom to interpret your own thoughts of what the song is about. Just if you don't flow with the titles, you are the lyricist of each track you hear.
This song is so uplifting. So damn good.
+Aditya Sharma (Adi) I agree. Doesn't this also apply to any other instrumental too?
What a nice surprise. I've been a Mogwai fan since 2012 when they played in Buenos Aires and blew me away. But I didn't know this song, and hearing it play over pictures of my country is amazing! Thanks for uploading :)
I'm from Glasgow, Scotland (Mogwai's home town) and what we have in common is that we both come from beautiful countries! Greeting's from Scotland!
@@jamiesmith9884 No doubt, I hope I can visit Glasgow someday! Thanks Scotland for Mogwai, Limmy, Trainspotting and your contempt for England lol
I play this song to my 3 year old some days & he loves it, starts air guitaring & Ive never showed him how. It must be in the music. Bravo Mogwai & Dylan.
Muito bom! Mogwai é demais. Essa eu não conhecia
That's absolutely perfect. And it's so true. I find myself listening through a Mogwai album and then I'll listen to a song again that I didn't really remember and fall in COMPLETE love with it. This is one of those songs.
this song just puts a big smile on my face and makes me happy.
Great tune, and an absolutely amazing video. I love putting this on full-screen and relaxing to the great sounds and pictures. Good work, my friend.
Great pictures!
It's on the Japanese release of The Hawk is Howling as a bonus track
My favorite thing about Mogwai is that every song affects us differently. Some get emotional on songs like this while others aren't moved to that degree. Either way we all have a damn good response to it.
Absolutely love this song
This song and video combination makes me think of all the beautiful things in this world that I want to see and experience before my time here is up. Including a drive from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego.

This song makes me feel alive
Awesome band, I saw them play a few weeks ago in Dublin. Its funny, you feel you know every song yet you've probably never heard it before. Last time I got that was at the bloody Violet Femmes.

aca vive la familia de dracula.encaja.
filling empty up, earth released her sound
diving deeper down, sky immersed in ground
calling outside in, pageantry abounds
lightways sneaking out, majestic chords surround

Great song! I hope they one day make an album solely with songs that aren't in any album. Songs like "Star Wars", "D To E" and "Dracula Family".
Argentina is a beautiful country. It's got it all :P
HIT!!!!!!!
Great song :)
this is a terrific band, I love it, don´t miss Tracey, Mogwai Fear Satan.
@danx300
It IS a bonus track from Hawk is Howling, wonder how this video was posted in June 2008 when the album was released in September 2008

@danx300 thanks for that, I had never heard it before
cheers mate

My son age 5 when he hears this knows Daddy wants to have fun. Personally it clears my head of all badness when its played
wow, holy shit.... i felt like i was hang-gliding over the highlands on a perfect day in may, with a blonde named Heather & flask o' drambuie
At 1:55 my heart starts beating faster...
@wotrabbitfish

It sounds really bad in 240p...
Well no, it actually sounds amazing anyway.
Ah ok

Seriously man. I love post rock more then anything. And labeling this song with these sorry pictures of so called "Beauty" Is ridiculous. This song Is amasing dont get me wrong, But its like a metal band playing a sigur ros song....just doesn't mix.
why the video is with photos of Argentina if the song is about Dracula family ? sorry for the mistake xD
To see an aspiring young musician's talent, search "LukeVoigtTV" and watch "But it's deep" sad song
why did you put on a song called "Dracula family" a video made with fotos of ARGENTINA and NOT TRANSILVANIA (Rumania)??
tool-esque. not what they used to be (oh yeah these guys were better than tool they were the best band around)...not lately.
btw this track rules more than anythin else from their last album
