In the 80s when I was flying did a lot of grass strip take off and landings, day and night in south east Florida with a 172. Didn’t seem to be much of a thing then. Good practice for emergency landings.
Great video and great little strip. We've just finished building an RV-12iS in the UK, where little grass strips are the norm - but we have to wait for the weather to improve before we can use them!
It was surprisingly smooth though. I recently went to another grass runway fly in and that one was not so smooth… had me inspecting the landing gear after
Great video. I have amazing memories of X04 along with some great friends that own a beautiful hangar there. My first solo was at KLEE in a Cherokee 150 from D&J Aviation. I've been to Love's Landing (by car LOL) when looking at an Aeronca a few years back. Ended up buy an Ercoupe out of X23. I now live in the upstate of SC so flying weather beginning to get spotty around here. I do miss Florida flying so enjoy!
Enjoyed your use of the 360 degree panning shots. I've seen it done poorly a lot...you did it well! I'd really enjoy seeing a fly-off comparison of the RV-12 vs a Cessna 152...especially comparing the quality of ride in the bumps and crosswind, and general comfort for cross country
I had a feeling this was Loves just based off of the title. My PPL instructor has a family member that lives there so we'd go practice actual soft fields and get some lunch while we were there! If you ever want a flying buddy, I'm a CFI in the area and would love to get some time in an RV!
Great video of really nice community. It looked like a really good landing. That is one of the nicest grass runways in central Florida. Side question: I really want to know who is teaching everyone to say "Last Call" in Florida.
Hey man, first time running across your channel. I'm definitely going to subscribe. Would you mind letting me know what camera do you use? The footage is excellent. Thank you for sharing your videos. I'm really enjoying them. Be safe.
N2222V, Do you know what aircraft was N22V? It was a Ryan Navion once used by Presidential candidate Eisenhower to travel to campaign events. I had a ride in it when I was 17.

Hello awesome stuff. I just subscribed. I landed right before the Comanche. Any chance you caught N-5435W Cherokee's landing ? lol I would love to see it or maybe not. Cheers.
great landings... i noticed that most of the tail draggers dumped the flaps as soon as the wheels touched down... any specific reasonfor that as opposed to jsut leaving them in until they're "off the runway" like normal?
@@johnwilcox2239 Correct to cut lift by cutting the flaps. They do it as a habit to put the weight on the tires on paved surface. bUT.. But on soft fields, it is better to leave some flaps out instead of no flaps. Do you know.. on high wingers, what happens to the nose and the tail when flaps are cut at landing speeds. @@tomgulbranson9015 Then i had hundreds of accidents according to you. it was required in my school to raise the flaps before braking, Duhh !. If they saw you were braking with flaps and fukkiing the tires, they could charge you for that. Cowards not allowed.
I'm pretty sure the F-16 needs pavement, but the Grippen would likely be OK if the runway is long enough. The question is can the runway handle the Grippen. I've seen an F-5 take off on grass and when he rotated the afterburners tore up the grass something fierce. The grass was probably not suitable for another takeoff or landing by a jet after that.
Haa! You had me at beautiful Saturday Morning flying weather! Great cinematography!

The way flying ought to be! Just fantastic! Thank you.

We have one of the most beautiful 4000' grass strips here in NH. View of the, White Mountains/Lakes region. NH69 Love your airstrip too
My dad and I flew to Love's on November 5th this year in a white Glasair. So funny I stumbled across this video and you were there the same day as us!
awesome!! Was it the Glasair with winglets?

That is actually Florida sugar sand kicking up behind the wheels.

Beautiful location. I didn't know Florida had that many hills.

The 360 camera on the wing tip is so cool. I love it.
Thank you. It has been the best for flying videos
Which camera and how are you mounting?

Yes super greaser there. Nice one.

I leave near Apopka wujuuuu I hope I can visit and meet you guys
Did you replace the tires with cotton balls for that PERFECT landing?????
The guy in the Pitts took it next level.
have you been to sebring?
I have, that is where I did my insurance checkout to fly the RV12

From the cockpit you greased that grass runway landing👍😊 Looked quite wet there though!?🤔🤔

I'm going to have to find this on MSFS and try it for myself

Good job all the way around.

Wow, a Taildragger with winglets ?!?!??! Nice video
Wasn’t that a cool plane? I think it was a Glasair II. Thank you!
Seeing the elevation change of the strip made me wonder about something. Does touching down on the downhill portion ease the landing?
Amazing!!! Which airport is that?
That’s awesome
Have you ever landed in Orlando international or Tampa

This is to dump lift, so the tail will drop quickly, and minimize the risk of nosing over when breaking.

Forgive my dumb question but can a light jet like a Grippen or F-16 use that kind of runway? WW1 type biplanes look super cool! 😎
