Just to give some context, The Jojo manga has been running for 35 years, but it just got an Anime very recently (the first part came out in 2012) and that's why some of the first couple of openings don't look even close to your modern anime style. The reason why it got an anime so late in its lifetime has to do with how hard and expensive it is to animate characters with that have this level of detail. Thankfully the studio behind the anime has done a great job for the most part. In the anime, we are currently on part 6 (we just recently got a new "batch" of episodes [13 to 24] with 14 more episodes to come who-knows-when, thanks Netflix) which was originally serialized from 1999 to 2003. There are 2 more parts (part 8 finished last year, but part 9 is still on the works) to be animated though it is clear that it will be a long time until we see part 7 get an Anime. Hope you guys give it a chance, even if it is just to watch it by yourselves in your own, personal time. But, judging by how much I enjoyed your reaction to the openings, I would love to see you react to the show.
i think the whole reason it took so long for the adaptation was 1. for araki's "bizarre" artstyle, and 2. because stands. i can only imagine how difficult animating the stands would of been in the 2000s
Disney+ is going to start hosting Jojo. I don't know why but that gives me hope for Steel Ball Run. Also, based on the blueray release dates for the third batch, we're getting the final 14 episodes in January.

such a shame that you didn't got to see the bonus versions of opening 9, the one that started with the hand kissing, the final version of that one is probably the best of them all.

So Jojo is broken up into parts, each part has a new main Jojo from the Joestar family and a different genre, even the art style changes. Currently there are 8 parts finished with only 6 parts having been animated so far, part 9 will be in the works after the mangaka takes a well deserved break I heard. The mangaka, Hirohiko Araki, takes inspiration from ancient greek/roman sculptures, high-end fashion magazines like Gucci, and western music for the most part. Almost every character has some sort of music reference in their name or stand (the ghosts/robots you guys mentioned that come out of some characters), but because even just the names are copyright in the U.S. they'll be changed, but if you stick to watching the japanese dub the real names won't be too hard to figure out. (the worst one was how they changed Aerosmith to Lil' Bomber, bleh)
In the openings you can see the “stands”, spirits that represent the soul and fighting strength of the characters with abilities all different from each other (for examples time stop or time skipper)
My favorite part is in the first opening, when the policemen shoot all those bullets by apparently firing whole entire bullets with their casings, somehow. Not the strangest thing that happens in JoJo's.
I find myself rewatching this again and again. Woah, Stella has foresigt! If you lot start your JoJo journey, especially now that Part 6 is over, I will cry real tears.
I recommend watching the endings too, also there are two openings that were forgotten in the video you reacted to-they both follow up after the 12th opening and I think you check them out 👍
0:45 Jojo part 1: Phantom Blood, Classic Hero's journey where family is a key component, First Jojo: Jonathan Joestar 3:32 Jojo part 2: Battle Tendency, Adventure story akin to Indiana Jones (set in 1940s), Second Jojo: Joseph Joestar (Grandson of Jonathan Joestar) 6:18 Jojo part 3: Stardust Crusaders, Globe trotting journey to defeat an old evil (features the debut of 'Stands' or a fighting spirit that dwells within some people that all have special abilities), Third Jojo: Jotaro Kujo (Grandson of Joseph Joestar, who is the old man returning in these 2 openings) 15:11 Jojo part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable, Small town mystery where a serial killer must be found and stopped (most chill, slice of life style Jojo has ever been), Fourth Jojo: Josuke Higashikata (son of Jonathan Joestar who fooled around and got his secret lover pregnant, technically Jotaro's uncle) 28:07 Jojo part 5: Golden Wind, Mobster themed part set in Itally following our protagonists looking to overthrow the mafia to stop the distribution of drugs to the community, Fifth Jojo: Giorno Giovanna (related to the Joestar bloodline in a secret/spoiler-y way) 34:00 Jojo part 6: Stone Ocean, protagonist starts by going to jail on manslaughter charges (driving accident) and must escape prison with the wacky cast of other prison inmates, Sixth Jojo: Jolene Kujo (First female Jojo, she is Jotaro Kujo's daughter) Now you know the themes and characters of each Part. There is actually more openings, but they would probably spoil important elements/moments of the story.
If I could describe Jojo as a series it would be: Abrupt and absolute tonal shifts. Edit: This would be a great show for you to react to considering it has a lot of cool concepts and VERY weird moments. It's a reaction gold mine and the Jojo community always flocks to new reactions!
my favourite part of jojo's hasn't been animated yet, but its part 8. it just really played into my love of surrealist and horror art, with that wonderfully wacky layer of jojo's on top. my favourite jojo is the jojo from part 7, which hasn't yet been animated, I just think he's kinda cool. tho of the parts that have been adapted, my favourite part is part 4, and the jojo from that part is my favourite jojo of the animated parts. josuke is just a sweetheart (with one heck of a temper, but still, sweet kid) and the setting and plot are so interesting, and the villain from that part is just perfectly creepy, like keep him the fuck away from me and kill it with fire, but at the same time, I'm intrigued... how he behaves, the measures he takes, and the weird combination of arrogance and paranoia. also reimi is best girl and deserves all the hugs.
brief info for each part, including the part's name, brief description, the year it happens in, the main character's name and relation to previous main characters, and the openings of that part: Part 1: Phantom Blood, a story about two boys whose fates were connected by a mysterious stone mask, year of the part: 1887-ish, the main character is Jonathan Joestar and the main antagonist is Dio Brando (the fan favourite character). Openings: 1 (Sono Chino Sadame) Part 2: Battle Tendency, American boy fights aztec gods, year of the part: 1939-ish, the main character is Joseph Joestar, Jonathan's Grandson. Openings: 2 (Bloody Storm) Part 3: Stardust Crusaders, Journey from Japan to Egypt in 50 days, year of the part: 1989, the main character is Jotaro Kujo, Joseph's Grandson. Openings: 3 (Stand Proud), 4 (End of the World), 4.5 Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable, Small Town slice of life anime (until it becomes a murder mystery), year of the part: 1999, the main character is Josuke Higashikata (the second Jo comes from his name, suke can be read as Jo in kanji), his relation to the other joestars is technically a spoiler. Openings: 5 (Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town), 6 (Chase), 7 (Great Days), 7.5 Part 5: Golden Wind, Mafia story, year of the part: 2009-ish, the main character is Giorno Giovanna (Jo is replaced by Gio because there's no J in italian), his relation to the other joestars is a spoiler. Openings: 8 (Fighting Gold), 9 (Traitor's Requiem), 9.5, 9.99 Part 6: Stone Ocean, florida woman tries to escape prison, year of the part: 2013-ish, the main character is Jolyne Cujoh (American way of spelling Kujo), daughter of Jotaro Kujo. Openings: 10 (Stone Ocean). As of writing this comment the part is still being animated the next parts are manga-only as of writing this comment, not only that but they also happen to take place in an alternate universe, because in Part 6, the story of the main universe has concluded. Part 7: Steel Ball Run, race through the entirety of America, year of the part: 1939-ish, the main character is Johnny Joestar, alternate universe version of Jonathan Joestar Part 8: JoJolion, to quote the manga: "a story about curses", year of the part: 1999-ish if i recall correctly, the main character's name is kind of a spoiler. Hope that gets you excited for what you're gonna see! each part is a different genre and has a different vibe to it. Also i apologize in case i spoiled anything for you
My favorite jojo is Jolyne, the most recent one. I like her attitude and the fact that she's not afraid to show emotion/"weakness". She's also really cool. To be honest, shes actually not my favorite character in part 6 (season 6), my favorite is actually F.F. and I think her dynamic with F.F. and Hermes (I think thats her name) makes her my favorite jojo. I don't know if you guys noticed but that part takes place in prison. It's really good. I don't know what you meant by "its really different," since its a lot like the rest of the show (Every part has a slightly different feel though). Since you wanted our opinions on it, if you meant because there's a lot more women in it, its fine. They don't shove it in your throat, they're not trying to teach you about diversity through the show and honestly that's where a lot of shows fail. Jolyne will always be a better character than any she-hulk or captain marvel because she's not trying to prove that she's just as good or better than men, she's just trying to survive and save the people who are important in her life, just like any other jojo. Anyway, my favorites list goes Jolyne, Joseph, Giorno, Jotaro, Jonathan, and then Josuke. Not that it means anything to you guys, since you don't know them, but I like joseph cause he's funny and quippy, and I like giorno cause he's cool and I really like his abilities. Jotaro is just badass all around and develops a lot, jonathan is a gentleman and unfortunately josuke has the least amount of personality out of all of the jojos in my opinion, which puts him as my least favorite. Which is a shame cause he seemed really cool at the start.
Yeah in the show she never tries to one-up every one else like diverse female characters, she, just like literally every other character, gets beaten up several times before she works out how to fight back and overcome the enemy.
Here's a bit of a heads up before you start JoJo: Some parts (especially parts 3 and 4) drag on quite a bit. However, do not skip the episodes as they're an integral part of the storytelling. Through all the little encounters (which might seem futile at first), the author shows the way the fighting system works, uses the fights for character arcs and developments, or just have a really dope battle. Also a lot of people might tell you to skip parts, please do NOT do that. That makes the show a lot less enjoyable.
@@The_BlObMmm, I don't know. I liked seeing the characters and their dynamics in those chill "weekly stand user" episodes. I will agree that the second half of DiU is obviously the best of the arc, but I still enjoyed the beginning quite a bit. Some episodes more than others, but still enjoyable overall... Guess it comes down to personal preference.
yeah jojo messes up with time a lot HAHAHA and basically every part has a different jojo as the main character but they’re all from the same bloodline, it’s really cool you guys should watch it! my favorite jojo is giorno !! the blonde one from the opening of a guy kissing a hand etc
Basically Jojo Part1:Theatre drama Part2: Indiana Jones Part3:90 days across the world Part4: Twin Peaks Part5: Mafia Part6: Prison Break and Florida Man Part7: Western Part8: Kyle XY(Haven't read it yet but it gives me this vibe)
I love when people watch the second opening for stardust crusaders and without fail say there’s something different with the song or animation when really the only thing different is the ending part with Dio
The robotic and animalistic apparitions they seems to summon are called "Stands", and they are a physical manifestation of the user's fighting spirit (this really isn't a spoiler BTW). Though they only come into play later in the show for reasons that are better explained by watching the show. Edit: The main characters are all different from season to season (seasons are called parts in Jojo) The main story is in each part, it covers different generations of the Joestar family. Without spoilers, there is crossover characters or cameos occasionally from previous parts. That's why you may recognise some characters in the openings.
I'm a little late, but to answer a question no one else seemed to, most of the time when you see chains in a JoJo's opening it's symbolic rather than literal.
Yes each Part, is a different generation, to put it one way, Part 1 with the Blue haired guy and the blonde guy's ending and the start of Part 3 with the guy with a cap and the indiana jones looking guy has a full 100 year gap inbetween. They also change power systems at Part 3 where Part 1 and Part 2 have a more physical battle style with a breathing based martial art that can do a lot of.... total BS and the rest has more set spirit powers to try to out maneuver their foes. Even the most mundane and weak power can lead to dozens dead. And by that I literally mean, someone could have a power that is, when they're wet, they get hit by a tiny non-lethal shock that is mildly irritating enough to make people aggressive. Or an ability to turn water into hot water. and my personal favorite one called Wei ya (or something along those lines) it does nothing but give its user positive reinforcement, as in it cheers you on, tells you "you can do it" and all that shaz.
Please react to more things Jojo and include Stella in it. She always has the best reactions to insane things on screen. Also, try not to get spoiled too much. Jojo fans can get... passionate.
@@whitenoiseanimereacts absolutely, and the episodes as well, if you'd like. Edit: also try "1 second" and "2 seconds of every jojo episode" (it is also on RUclips)
As for Meta stuff, it's not really meta, HOWEVER: there is a lot of screwing with time powers and the big villains have a streak for having time manipulation abilities, and part 7 just straight up manipulates DIMENSIONS. Jojo gets so masterfully convuluted and so cool to try and solve as you watch. You'll feel like your head will explode with just how awesome some of the powers are, and how smart people in the show use them. Especially the Jostar family secret technique... Iykyk lmao
Fun fact about the last couple openings, Araki had to fight his editors (like, a lot) in order to get permission to make a female protagonist. He originally also wanted to make the JoJo before her a girl, too, but it was the 90s so they didn’t let him.
Opening 2's characters are not Opening 1's characters. And the siren is a regular woman, her legs just weren't moving. And there are Indiana Jones vibes in Opening 2, right down to Third Reicht German Soldiers being in it.

Part 1: late 1800s London feud between two stepbrother that escalates into a hero vs villain story. Part 2: early 1900s, the grandson of the first Jojo rescues his surviving family and ends up teaming up with the Third Reicht to protect humanity from an evil the latter prematurely unsealed. Part 3: 1980s. The Jojo from Opening 2 flies all the way to Japan to help his grandson come to terms with his punchy ghost known as a Stand. Only problem is Part 3 Jojo's mom is under a curse and they travel the world to lift it. Part 4: 1999 life in Morioh City where people with Stands are becoming more prevalent, Jojo 3 talks to his bastard high school step uncle due to shenanigans with Jojo 2 despite his age, and they have to find a serial killer that has gotten away with murder for 18 years. Part 5: the lovechild of Jojo 1 and Dio joins a gang to infiltrate it, take it over, and get drugs off his streets. Part 6: Jojo 3 has a daughter that gets framed for a hit and run in order to lure her father into a trap to take him out and attain information only known by him and the deceased Dio. She forms an alliance with certain inmates in a bid to get out, save her dad, and stop the plot of Dio's followers. Not necessarily in that order, btw.

One thing you should know about JoJo is that everything is a reference. A lot of characters and powers are named after singers, bands, and songs
Or how in stone ocean they didn’t change Yo Yo Ma into Yo MaMa.😢
Really, not Sticky Fingers to Zipperman?
@@kevinbell5674 yeah, zipper man is way worse than lil bomber, I actually kinda like it

I love people watching the alternate version of op4 and absolutely convincing themselves there’s a difference before the obvious one
First thing she does when she sees Josuke
*Makes fun of his hair.😂😂😂
I find myself rewatching this again and again. Woah, Stella has foresigt! If you lot start your JoJo journey, especially now that Part 6 is over, I will cry real tears.

0:45 Jojo part 1: Phantom Blood, Classic Hero's journey where family is a key component, First Jojo: Jonathan Joestar
3:32 Jojo part 2: Battle Tendency, Adventure story akin to Indiana Jones (set in 1940s), Second Jojo: Joseph Joestar (Grandson of Jonathan Joestar)
6:18 Jojo part 3: Stardust Crusaders, Globe trotting journey to defeat an old evil (features the debut of 'Stands' or a fighting spirit that dwells within some people that all have special abilities), Third Jojo: Jotaro Kujo (Grandson of Joseph Joestar, who is the old man returning in these 2 openings)
15:11 Jojo part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable, Small town mystery where a serial killer must be found and stopped (most chill, slice of life style Jojo has ever been), Fourth Jojo: Josuke Higashikata (son of Jonathan Joestar who fooled around and got his secret lover pregnant, technically Jotaro's uncle)
28:07 Jojo part 5: Golden Wind, Mobster themed part set in Itally following our protagonists looking to overthrow the mafia to stop the distribution of drugs to the community, Fifth Jojo: Giorno Giovanna (related to the Joestar bloodline in a secret/spoiler-y way)
34:00 Jojo part 6: Stone Ocean, protagonist starts by going to jail on manslaughter charges (driving accident) and must escape prison with the wacky cast of other prison inmates, Sixth Jojo: Jolene Kujo (First female Jojo, she is Jotaro Kujo's daughter)
Now you know the themes and characters of each Part.
Yeah, basically the villain has some power to mess the opening in Jojo.
You got almost all of them right.
Messing time
my favourite part of jojo's hasn't been animated yet, but its part 8. it just really played into my love of surrealist and horror art, with that wonderfully wacky layer of jojo's on top. my favourite jojo is the jojo from part 7, which hasn't yet been animated, I just think he's kinda cool. tho of the parts that have been adapted, my favourite part is part 4, and the jojo from that part is my favourite jojo of the animated parts. josuke is just a sweetheart (with one heck of a temper, but still, sweet kid) and the setting and plot are so interesting, and the villain from that part is just perfectly creepy, like keep him the fuck away from me and kill it with fire, but at the same time, I'm intrigued... how he behaves, the measures he takes, and the weird combination of arrogance and paranoia. also reimi is best girl and deserves all the hugs.
brief info for each part, including the part's name, brief description, the year it happens in, the main character's name and relation to previous main characters, and the openings of that part:
Part 1: Phantom Blood, a story about two boys whose fates were connected by a mysterious stone mask, year of the part: 1887-ish, the main character is Jonathan Joestar and the main antagonist is Dio Brando (the fan favourite character). Openings: 1 (Sono Chino Sadame)
Part 2: Battle Tendency, American boy fights aztec gods, year of the part: 1939-ish, the main character is Joseph Joestar, Jonathan's Grandson. Openings: 2 (Bloody Storm)
Part 3: Stardust Crusaders, Journey from Japan to Egypt in 50 days, year of the part: 1989, the main character is Jotaro Kujo, Joseph's Grandson. Openings: 3 (Stand Proud), 4 (End of the World), 4.5
Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable, Small Town slice of life anime (until it becomes a murder mystery), year of the part: 1999, the main character is Josuke Higashikata (the second Jo comes from his name, suke can be read as Jo in kanji), his relation to the other joestars is technically a spoiler. Openings: 5 (Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town), 6 (Chase), 7 (Great Days), 7.5
Part 5: Golden Wind, Mafia story, year of the part: 2009-ish, the main character is Giorno Giovanna (Jo is replaced by Gio because there's no J in italian), his relation to the other joestars is a spoiler. Openings: 8 (Fighting Gold), 9 (Traitor's Requiem), 9.5, 9.99
Part 6: Stone Ocean, florida woman tries to escape prison, year of the part: 2013-ish, the main character is Jolyne Cujoh (American way of spelling Kujo), daughter of Jotaro Kujo. Openings: 10 (Stone Ocean). As of writing this comment the part is still being animated
the next parts are manga-only as of writing this comment, not only that but they also happen to take place in an alternate universe, because in Part 6, the story of the main universe has concluded.
Part 7: Steel Ball Run, race through the entirety of America, year of the part: 1939-ish, the main character is Johnny Joestar, alternate universe version of Jonathan Joestar
Part 8: JoJolion, to quote the manga: "a story about curses", year of the part: 1999-ish if i recall correctly, the main character's name is kind of a spoiler.
"Who are we stabbing with it?" The answer to that is actually quite funny
Here's a bit of a heads up before you start JoJo:
Some parts (especially parts 3 and 4) drag on quite a bit.
We won’t at all!! Don’t worry!!
Part 4 is perfect
It doesn't drag at all tfym
@@royalfun1031 the slice of life episodes at the start. they get boring really easily. the story gets interesting only after episode 21
The "girl" with the bob has probably the most masculine sounding name of all the characters in this haha.
yeah jojo messes up with time a lot HAHAHA and basically every part has a different jojo as the main character but they’re all from the same bloodline, it’s really cool you guys should watch it! my favorite jojo is giorno !! the blonde one from the opening of a guy kissing a hand etc

This is like the one anime where I also recommend watching the endings.

@@whitenoiseanimereacts Nah, when it first aired it was a big deal because no one expected it because it was playing as normal then it happened

I thought I would hate jojo, ended up loving the show + the artstyle which isnt even my cup of tea. Love it!
