This version is so much more underwhelming than the one on the Album. That one is sooo much more intense and energetic, always makes me bounce around whenever I hear it. 10 years passed and "To lose my life" is still my fav album of all time! Absolute top notch lads!
I think Mumford's version of the song comes across as if the narrator is more shell-shocked and more forgiving towards their killer, whereas it seems like the narrator of White Lies' version is more aware of the finality of their death and they're just delaying the inevitability of leaving. It all depends on how you interpret the lyrics. Both versions are great, they just bring out different aspects of the lyrics. For that reason, I don't think they should really be compared as one being better than the other.

I don't understand why people are so up in arms over Mumford & Sons doing a cover... One band covering another band's songs is a sign of respect and appreciation for their work. Plus there's no reason why one of them has to be "better" or "worse." They're both really great and can be awesome independently.
I found this song this year and the band last year and I cannot put into words how this bands music makes me feel so alive. I want to sit in a forest ride my bike through the hills and dance and sing and feel and cry. They capture emotions very we with their music

People. I have had this experience before with Tears for Fears/Gary Jules. Even if you prefer the cover (M&S) more that the original (White Lies), you must acknowledge that this is the original. Look, I prefer the M&S version better, but that's because I like the style of folk and Mumford's vocals.
I love to read the other comments, to see that other people feel the same as me when you listen to the songs of white lies, they make u feel a way no band does, and their music never gets old or bored, it will be my favourite, for ever :) but i perfer the live edition of this song :) but thats my opinion
