Glad I can’t relate, that really sucks hope you guys have gotten past it and your parents have apologized and y’all got a good relationship now. I was in a super Christian house hold, I remember everyone would yell at and call my female cousin names straight up told her she had a demon in her and tried to turn other kids against her like she was less than human. The reasons they gave for why they where so mad was because she was doing normal kid stuff like lying and stealing (she stole stuff cause no one ever got her gifts and her brother was super spoiled.) anyways I later found out the reason everyone was so horrible to her was because her mom had her when she was underage and her dad hated her cause she wasn’t his kid. Such stupid reasons to hate a kid, this has made me really despise Christianity, they used religion as a big excuse for basically abusing her.

I think it just comes down to a sense of jealousy but also a legitimate worry of how there kids would turn out with out there being something to work towards, which doesn't lead to particularly great character development.
I lived a pretty comfortable life that my parents thankfully never held over my head but there was always a silent understanding that these people have genuinely been through a lot. So though taking the comfort they gave you is good I can still understand the anxiety of how it feels to litraly be squandering through the dirt, to eventually using that as fuel to rise above it but growing up and seeing your kid not getting the development that lead to you succeeding in the first place and instead spending that time casting slurs on GTA and instead pretending how it feels to be on the streets behind the screen of an X box is almost guaranteed a trauma dump by your parents.
My father grew up in Apartheid South Africa with him mentioning how he was home less at 8 years old selling cigarettes by the side of the road and how it was his sister who was forced to pick up the slack for him and his brother. With her being the main reason how he mamaged to get a basic education and was able to work hard enough to the point he became a small time journalism. And how my mother whos the sweetest women I have ever met and eventually became a psychologist, told me how my grand mother had to leave her with her cousin for a full year so she could study to become a teacher and lived in a small broke down room where they were only able to survive through constant flow of money from my grand mother and may grand uncle.
Life was not good to these people and yet my mother never bragged about her struggles accept for my father, but he rarely ever brought it up due to how painful it all was and only did so if a screwed up to remind that screw up would have caused him a meal when he was a kid just out of the fact he couldn't afford it.
This mom in the video is honestly just a terrible mother but deep down behind there I do have a certain understanding for why she acts out especially if life hadn't been so kind to her and yet she was able to grind a built a life for herself build of the foundation's of discipline that can only come about through geunenly being through it.
But yeah gloating about how bad you had it and how you eventually built yourself out of nothing is one thing, which I can kinda understand if your directing it at your kids, it gets annoying but understandable. But calling them a parasite just indicates that even now your struggling to do and be shit with your life. And it's always the parents who didn't do a lot with it.

My mom used to be like this, but my dad would always shut that shit down. He would always ask if she had a problem with me, and the thing about my dad is that he's a very intimidating man and he would get right up in her face. If my mom woke up with an attitude and talked to me and my sister in an uncalled for way, he'd take her to their room and she'd come out so calm that it was as if my dad put a spell on her or something.
Of course, if mom's anger was valid, he'd let her yell and all that, but he always made sure things never got out of hand.

Do you think every adult on Earth could have a dog if there were enough dogs? No. It would be a death sentence for certain animals. Not sure why we think it gets better with kids.
You have work to do on yourself before you have kids, is what I always tell people.

Nah fr parents especially mothers do this for no reason. Like I get, we should be thankful because they raised us and let us live but at the same time they shouldn't make their kids feel guilty for not saying it, especially when they don't thank their own parents. How about they thank us for listening to them and saying the things they're afraid to say? Or how about thanking us for not choosing to run away in favor of not dealing with their BS? Better yet, how about thanking us for not complaining about not wishing us a happy child appreciation day or getting us gifts for that day even though we're supposed to wish them a happy Mother's Day/Father's Day and buy them gifts. And don't nobody come in the comments talking about Christmas and Birthdays because at a certain age we're supposed to buy them gifts for those days too. Hell when I was growing up I was supposed to give my mother a card every year until I got a job.

Yes it is not easy but at the same time these parents should stop complaining and just deal with it 💯
