Loved this in 84, how Michael Pare didn’t become a big star is beyond me. At the time I worked in a video shop in the UK and everyone I suggested it to who rented it came back v happy.
In the 1980s, there wasn't a lot of real estate for someone like him. The big action stars all had to be uber-vascular, you had a small cabal of super-actors who got all the "very important" motion picture roles, and the limited roles available for a good-looking normal guy were pretty much taken up by Tom Cruise.
@@theevilascotcompany9255 Pare was an alcoholic and kind of an asshole. His movies also, sadly, didn't make as much money which really wasn't his fault.
I agree, it was one of the first films my wife and I watched together. We could never understand why Michael Pare never became a big star, he was so cool
Yep. I often forget that Hollywood once allowed directors to make real movies. Now the producers always wanna play director and basically tell the director what they want. It sucks. 200 million dollar CGI fest shit shows with no heart, soul or character and the type of movie no one will care about nor talk about 5 years after the release.
The guitar rift the drums kicking in, is just timeless to me. Rock n roll fable long time ago. The handsome tough guy soldier of fortune bk in town to get his ex back from the local biker gang bullies. Banging soundtrack what more u want. Bill Paxton getting knocked in his own bar lol. Fish can't hate the guy really, just too easy to kick the shit out of him. Ellen aim/ Diana Lane made me grow up in the early 90s, let me tell u.
That Bob Seeger original song is just sooo thin compared to the actual music played when Cody tries out the stolen car. All instruments goes just crazy, and mixed with the other sound effects and the movie scene - Cooder and Hill really know what adrenaline was all about. Seeger sounds like a high school cover version...
Time to watch this film again. Michael Pare has his own brand of kool. Willem Dafoe never seems to disappoint. Deborah Van Valkenburgh and Amy Madigan are sexy in two extremes. Hell, I'd like a pal like McCoy (Amy Madigan).
The original plan was for a trilogy of films of the adventures of Tom Cody. It got disrupted by a lot of studio reorging. I think it could have been a series of films. Not just a trilogy.
I loved Amy Madigan's character of McCoy. To me it was the most underrated character in the movie. I somewhat dreamed that we would see a further installment called " The Adventures of Cody and McCoy." The director Walter Hill originally planned two other films but Streets of Fire did so poorly at the box office that he ran away from the franchise as fast as he could. Interestingly it did REALLY well in VHS and DVD rentals.
AM I THE ONLY ONE GOING CRAZY TRYING TO FIND THE FIRST TWO INSTRUMENTAL SONGS FROM THIS MOVIE/VIDEO THEY ARE SO BADASS BUT I CANT FIND THEM NO MATTER WHAT I GOOGLE!!!! If anyone knows them please lmk so i dont go insane thank youuu
Very cool. Can't wait for the new Blu Ray double DVD collectors edition coming out May 17, 2017, you can pre order Amazon, wish it was here tomorrow. Love this movie.
Anyone know where to find nowhere fast, but with the intro from this? In the movie it plays that part before nowhere fast. Lol I wish I could find it. Haha I love how it starts off.
upgradesky56 .what's the name of the song used in the intro? Not the Seger song. the very 1st song heard. I know its in the movie and I know it's Ry Cooder.
A- you got Ry's intro "no one ever get's that" but you forgot the wind chimes. oops ..edit OMG WTF Can't anyone just leave it be why the change. " this ain't my planet"

One of the best movies of ALL TIME ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Rest in peace Mr Paxton. You are missed.
Even in small parts he was a pleasure to see on screen.
Pare was the coolest guy in the 80's. I wanted to be Eddie from Eddie and the Cruisers and Tom in Streets of Fire so bad. He is the coolest
I wanted to be Ellen Aim.
Ah, who'm I kidding. I still want to be Ellen Aim.
@@ssaberwolf lol
You know that before going into acting (starting with this film) Pare had graduated from The Culinary Institute of America and was a chef?

So badass when Willem Dafoe just turns around and walks back into the burning building. Such a amazing image.
Oh yeah! Haha I always thought that was just great!

The greatest scene that William made in all his movies.Bad son of a bitch .I hated him but then start to love his work a real actor.
Back when Hollywood made badass movies

Michael Pare's balisong flipping is so badass !!! I fell instantly in love with him with that knife trick
All the violence and no one dies in this movie, thanks to Walter Hill. Another cool aspect of this very cool movie.
He only shoot holes in their motorcycle , he use to be in the army, , Tom Cody is an excellent marksman

Unfortunately, it seems that the instrumental version by Ry Cooder was never released. A real shame, it's probably the most kickass thing ever played.
Streets of Fire turned me into a big Blasters fan as well.
