Yeah but lifting the same weight has thor, and weighs 75kg less than him is impressive
And he's up to 300lbs now, likely he can do even more. Now that he broke the AWTR for 308lb powerlifting total, expect him to get into strongman and get even bigger in the next 2 years. He even said he needs to be heavier to compete among these 350lb+ guys.

Anyone else annoyed by this? I personally feel like the best way to watch these athletes lift the log is from the front camera where we can see everything perfectly, not from the top camera or the camera zoomed too close to the athlete. Yes, the most important thing is to just see them lift the log but it would make it much more enjoyable if can see it from a good angle which in my opinion is the front.

To see luke increasing the log by 40 kg in one year is insane
Before this show he'd hit 215 in training, for some reason just couldn't match it at this comp. So not quite 40kg but putting 228kg overhead is still an incredible improvement.

Would be interesting to see what could be done by the massive guys that are truly pressing the log if they used Kearney’s jerk technique. He’s only competitive here because of that. Might see some 260kg if they did it.

Too much hype for Iron Biby. When Z did his world records he just went out and lifted and made 220kg+ look easy. No delaying by 15 minutes and taking 3 attempts.

You're right: it's not a press anymore!
It’s a split jerk, it’s legal in lifting events, Olympic lifting, and power lifting.
It’s is a standard leg movement.
@@Saskatchetooner i know it's used in olympic lifting, but I don't think it makes the press a strict press. Of course it'd be acceptable in other lifting events, just odd that it is accepted in this one.

A split jerk position might appear easier but it makes it harder to lock out if you reach a sticking point

He isn’t the first strongman to use the split jerk. Not a huge difference between guys who are good with the split jerk or guys that have real good leg drive. Very few guys are competitive without leg drive.

Why Iron Biby never competed at World's strongest man?
He has zero stamina. He doesn't even have the energy to compete at the Arnold which has much less movements. He abstains from lifts, not because he's stronger than Mateusz or Thor, but simply that he is absolutely gassed after a few lifts.

No he coudln't lmao. Olympic lifter can get these weights ups by using as much drive as possible. But they aren't strogn enoguh to strict press the weight up
The log is a whole different beast to an Olympic bar. I don't think they'll get it up to their chest as well as these guys. Then you got the press
The width of the log changes the center of gravity, body position etc..... the rotation of the hands brings the arms more in front. That said Lasha could be very good if he trained it.
Where the hell are Big Z and Hall?. Very unusual for them both to be missing there.
Eddie retired and Big Z hadn’t done any big international shows since an injury the year prior IIRC.

Having an extra layer of fat isn’t a sign of being natural. Calories in and calories out. Metabolism, types of peds, and diet control varies among these guys. No way Hicks, and Biby aren’t juicing.
