Another great unboxing mate. I struggled with licorice gourami sadly, beautiful fish though. Do your ottos look goo, or do you feed them up for a week or two before selling? Another one have had some trouble with in the past but want to give them another go. Cheers.
Licorice gourami are not an easy fish to keep. Ideally low GH slow moving densely planted aquarium with a pH around 6. They can even go down to around 3.5. They do not like it jumping though. Ottos are also not an easy fish. Ideally needing biofilm to eat as well as commercial foods. They both can be intimidated by tank mates and stop eating. Usually it takes Ottos a few days to start eating in a different environment.
I’ll sort one out once I’m better organised. Generally raising the pH and GH is easier than trying to reduce it. But again it all comes down to what water you have access to to start with. Twenty years ago I had a full fish room breeding mostly rift lake cichlids. Great memories
@@paulstingray I was going to say the same a video on setting up one of these tanks. GC water is around 7 PH so most of a whole point increase is needed. if you make one of them in the future different ideas for raising ph....and I mean a stable ph, not adding stuff in each week. I guess something like a crushed coral substrate or aragonite sand would be an easy start I guess. I'm planning soon enough to dip my toes into africans for the first time, starting with mbunas. A saulosi or mixed mbuna tank would be nice i think
@petejeau not a prob If you have questions you want answered in the vid just comment here and I’ll try and cover everything. Products to raise hardness are easy to use in hard water.
Never be scared to take that step to correctly run a 8.2ph african tank, buffer your water seachem's rift lakes buffer, or API's proper 8.2ph automatically sets the ph to your required level then all you need to do is water changes and at a 2 week interval its just not hard enjoy your fish and enjoy the surroundings be safe take care and take that plunge you may just like it, i did and i bred many tropheus sp. Lamprolgus sp. Discus, angelfish, and cory cats along with bristlenose sp, hope my words have givin you some hope
I do like 2-3 green severums to go in my 4ft tank with a male elliotti 2 large angelfish 3 upside down catfish 5 emerald catfish and 1 peacock spiny eel
Come on Paul id say I'd like a Paul and Paul's aquarium plus crazy fish, ant, spider, reptile, amphibian roo. Plus plants and farm too in every country of the world especially USA tell your clone I'll help set up his world her in Tennessee USA so I can but the fish with the crazy discount codes and the selection personality and weirdness. EEEEEELS!

8:00 your betta rack in the background looks like its dripping water all over the stand (left side)
You can just notice the drips if the tanks are not there. It’s a drip system. The drips go into channels that go to the sump.
Way too many cool fish this week holy moley, miss my spiney eels, too many cool fish no tanks to put them in aha
I have tanks available 🤪
Heck 🙃 hopefully some shrimp there when I come in next :) do you have more blue shrimps?
Blue shrimp should be next week
Only a few left atm

A video on keeping African species would be great. Never kept them because I’m worried about trying to maintain the right ph.
Thanks.
