Looking forward to the next video! You might want to pull the stock off that SxS and clean/lube the whole action. I've had the same issues with a couple SxS and stacked doubles.
Thanks Dan, will be out soon! I actually did that exact thing. It ran much better after that. Then in October here I had some frustrations again. The firing pin angles on a SxS are much more extreme than other action setups. Firing pins hit primers at an angle and sometimes they just don't do it well enough. Stronger springs needed maybe but I've noticed certain brands run better, maybe the hardness of the primer steel is different not sure.
Grouse are much less predictable and will not hold for a dog like a woodcock does. The casual point follow up on woodcock is really not possible with grouse although you can get some to hold from time to time but it's more of an action type hunt. Grouse run much more than woodcock, lots of tracking and re-locating. Get a point and move in quickly. They fly 4x harder and faster. They are the king and I wouldn't replace them with anything but sometimes when your shooting needs a little work, woodcock offer a nice break and for me it's just a more easy going experience.
@@steveillingworth5120 Thanks, good luck on your first hunt. That will be exciting and you'll be hooked forever! I'd be interested in hearing how it went!
Thanks, I’m pretty excited about the hunt. I’m driving up to Pineridge Grouse Camp from Southern CA with my WPG so it’s probably a one time bucket list hunt for me…and they told me it was addicting too! I drive to SD every December to hunt wild pheasant in Harrold which far enough. However, I recently watched The Flush, Alaska’s Ptarmigan Slam video on RUclips so my bucket list just started overflowing again!
@@steveillingworth5120 Oh Pineridge, enough said. That will be an experience of a lifetime! Jerry and company are the premier camp (at least I've heard that). I know several that have been, phenomenal words about it.

@UnderFortyYards Some primers are definitely harder than others. Stronger springs would help, but those might be a struggle to find.
Очень нравятся ваши видео!
Thank you!
What makes grouse hunting more chaotic than woodcock hunting? I’ll be doing my first grouse & woodcock hunt next November.
