glad yoj included the whole clip. you get to see the angst of a driver waiting to get on track (even for a veteran like Boespflug). triple checking everything he can get his hands on because waiting is the hardest part.
You probably don’t remember me, but you helped me out so much when I first started racing 360 wingless in Hanford Ca! We raced in the same series for a couple years and you were always very helpful with tips and I never forgot it! All the best brother! #44L Brett Lowder
I love this video screw all the haters if you don't like it don't watch it that simple! He's showing you what it's like as a driver to sit in a sprint car before hot laps I believe is what this is and how it can get nervous and all that plus I think it's an awesome angle of how he drives smh at people for not knowing this is a sprint car and people saying why drill your steering wheel that's how it comes its light weight. Great video I always come back to watch it plus ended up buying the same gloves cause of this video
One of the greatest thrills of my life was getting to ride in the two seater 'Outlaw Experience' car several years ago. What freaked me out the most was how close we were to the wall at all times. The G forces were incredible.
Nice footage! Made it look easy! My friend just got into racing non wing sprints and I know they are a handful with all that power. He put me in it for about 20 laps( dry sump motor)and I was blown away how much power they have!! Not to mention how out of control you are. I'm sure it's gets easier with many laps under your belt though. It was the most awesome thing I've ever experienced though.
Kane griffin my dad ( a late model driver ps one of ohio's finest) he won the first sprint car race he entered and that right there says something and also he races a modified soooooo that is an understatement there
Jack Hewitt has been to Australia a number of times to race both what you call "Late Models" and Sprintcars. I knew that he usually raced USAC Sprintcars, though I have seen here on RUclips, his having won 4 features in one night at Eldora Speedway, once in a Sprintcar, a Midget, a Silver Crown Car and a Dirt Modified, if I'm not mistaken. I think from memory, it's on either the "Charles Intestine" channel or the "vintagesupermodifieds" channel. Go give a look
I would say a 410 Non-wing Sprint Car with the 4 shock adjusters and the other adjuster I couldn't tell what was it may of been for the fuel. The 360 Non-wing cars you are not aloud to have shock adjusters at least where I run.
continuing from my last comment, in three years we have had all of one american latemodel guy come and try us - he was good, fun to watch obviously a different setup to how we normally run and up the front of the pack too sometimes.... but never won a race even on our biggest track and funnily enough the smaller the track the further back in the pack he was. yes he ran the same engine as in his latemodel and yes - on avgas.
NathanKrug1 at 1200lbs and 800+ horsepower around a bull ring, harder than wrestling a bull, maybe thats why S. Kinser is so good, he was a wrestler in high school!
Good video shows how much is going on in the car.. From this angle the driver looks so exposed his left elbow is so close to the rear wheel. I know there all like it just haven't seen it from this angle before
thanks guys, never seen those before. those dirt racing guys are so brave...they make grand prix drivers look stupid for having such wide safe run offs..GP circuits should have concrete walls to make the drivers learn to use the braks and gears.
+WillieStroker? NoButiWillLetYourMom actually sprint cars have transmissions, they are just single speed and the ratio, if i remember correctly, is 1:1
+Keegan Lauster You are incorrect as Willie said they are direct drive drive shaft connect to back of the motor goes through the torque tube and into the rear end.
+Keegan Lauster depends some people call the box that engages the drive a transmission. I've heard a few times in the pits and was like what are you guys talking about.
They do not have steering settings to each wheel. The car basically constantly want to turn right at speed due to what is called "stagger" the right rear is bigger then the left rear circumference wise this makes the inside wheel make more rotations then the outside and is why the driver basically only steers left or a little less left but never right. They also only have one front brake which I believe is the left front if I remember correctly. This helps a driver using the bottom of the track stay there by making the car turn using the brake. Technically they do have a transmission it is just not a traditional transmission, it is basically just a box that either puts the car in neutral or engages the drive gear.
Did anyone else hear in the background, someone say... "I got two arms left?" Honestly, this is a serious question, if you can believe it!! Between 4:47 - 4:52 you be the judge!! Dose he still have "two arms left" or what?
U youngsters out there. Did u see him chk his belts and helmet then the most important he pulled on that steering wheel. Very very important to chk that and make sure it’s locked. Just ask Steve Park or google Steve’s wreck I think they were at the monster mile. But almost killed and never was the same after that wreck when the steering wheel come off!!
now for a bit of speedway NZ history... we started with bikes and road cars in farm paddocks. since they enjoyed it they made proper tracks, started racing on horse tracks and slowly the cars became more powerful. We decided to throw in some contact - that evolved into our streetstock, stock car and superstock. we decided to run sprint cars, obvious enough we actually did get that from you. we decided to put bodies on a sprint and remove the front wing - theres our modifieds.
this is a 410 winged sprint car not a kart like everyone is thinking... talking about running with no shocks " ComeBackSpecialist7x'' would like to see u dominate one of those with your kart that has no shocks... good luck!!
New Zealand sprint cars are identical to the USA sprint cars. Almost every one of the cars are American chassis e.g Maxim,J & J,eagle. The motors are all 410ci fuel injected,Aluminium V8s that run on alcohol, most cars have American built motors like Kistler, kriner, shaver. There is absolutely no difference in the cars themselves what so ever, the drivers just have less experience than Americans due to the short length of our speedway season. The likes of Swindell,Allard,Schatz,Saldana,Dollansky come
It's hard to get very excited looking at a steering wheel. Next time ask someone else to put the camera where you can see outside the car to give more perspective.
Wait I wasn't looking at the rule book for ovdtr our sprint cars have 925 horse And the max weight is 1400 lbs and no less than 1200. Also my fathers late model has about 900 hp and we use racing acholol then its about 970 so I wonder why I have never heard of an Aussie or New Zealander racing a sprint car in America but one and he is a world of outlaw plus he said and i quote " sprint cars back home just don't have it to these"
I would have to say that the nob to the driver's right near the top is for a wing adjustment. I have the same in my car. the one bellow that is probably the RR shock adjustment and the one to his left is possibly for LR shock or breaks
I'd love to believe me - but seeing as I race on a small budget and am lucky to have any cars at all, It might take a while. will keep you posted though. I never said your cars are slow - I said your tracks have banking that turn your cars for you. you go fast cause you dont have to work as hard to do it - I also happen to know you guys tried our superstocks teams racing over there and it turned out to be too rough and too hard for the guys who tried it. maybe you could do it though?
maybe you should check out our modifieds, ours are closer to sprintcars. Our sprintcars average 850hp, 1278lb's min to 1763.7lb's max. We've scared the shit out of EVERY american thats come here, we are not slow at all! Our modifieds average 650hp - there are some that are almost 900hp, 1366lb's min to 2425lb's max - laps are usually 1 or 2 seconds slower than sprint cars. Our super saloons average 850hp as well. Id give weights but sadly I dont have the rule book handy for those right now...
i just noticed that ur helmet looks like someone shot it with buck shot, cool vid but maybe next time cut it a little so youre not sitting there for over 6 mins
No late model driver can do that? My bad, see if forgot you know every single driver in the entire world and have personally talked to each one and know everything about them. I mean, that's the only way you could possibly know what the hell you were talking about.
Its probably because in New Zealand we normally dont crow about how good we are - we just go out and do the business. And so far you've said nothing that proves your cars are better - you've said nothing that refutes having the huge banking on the track that helps your cars along and you've stated only a single type of fuel.... We have three usual ones here... Avgas, Methanol and pump fuel. take your pick on which one you wish to use on our tracks...
Ok so you proved sprint car racing is more dangerous....that's it! Late model racing is all about intimidation! Just as you said, you can't get close to each other in a sprint car because if you touch you'll go flying! In a late model you can. You get up next to someone and pinch him a bit. There's a reason why Lucas oil is growing in attendance and the world of outlaws is dieing!
Why not? you cant seem to even answer the questions Ive asked, nor can you prove that you know what you are talking about... Ive done both so Ive already won anyway... this post is just for kicks! :)
I'll tell you what, You can go ahead and reply to this comment and say what ever you want and I PROMISE not to respond that way you an feel like you won this argument and you can tell are your friends you won a youtube argument! aaaaaaannnndddd go!
I have one. I'm sorry I don't want to waste my time watching a guy sit in a car and not move for almost 7 minutes. Obviously you have no life and will watch anything.

World of outlaws is the greatest show on dirt, plain and simple!
Thanks for sharing. Awesome footage.

That was the coolest thing ever.
Nice and Smooth!
You needed a picture in picture one showing the front view ;)
NathanKrug1 sprint cars are the hardest and most dangerous cars to drive, they are the best drivers in the world!
They are crazy and take a LOT of car control. But there are harder cars to drive at the limit.
dominick virgilio I just started sprint cars and I’m in a 305 class
What was that knob you rotated at the beginning of the Just as you were being posted to the staging area?
LOVE the Packers helmet !!

What is the plunger in front of drivers' right?

the 300 thumb!
Cool view
Good to see him wear the HANS device
nice glimpse inside cockpit. I had no idea they wore safety leashes on elbows..
Garrett A They are called arm restraints. This is to prevent your arms from flying out if inpacted
continuing from my last comment, in three years we have had all of one american latemodel guy come and try us - he was good, fun to watch obviously a different setup to how we normally run and up the front of the pack too sometimes.... but never won a race even on our biggest track and funnily enough the smaller the track the further back in the pack he was. yes he ran the same engine as in his latemodel and yes - on avgas.
Wing or non wing?
what are those clip/tie things on his arms that he is fiddlin with at 2 minutes?
Fleur Black, those are in case they flip, they keep his arms from going outside the cockpit.
Are those little harnesses on your arm so they dont go out the window?
Yes. That way if you flip your arms won't go out and get broken or worse. They are called arm restraints.
backcountryme t
it happened to a bunch of the Bettenhausens that they lost there arms too bad arm restraints hadn't been invented yet...
Senna fan they are called arm restraints and yes it's so if impacted, your arms don't go flying out. I know from experience 😂
They are so if you roll you won’t crush you’re arms
badass....
Is that a sprint car
NathanKrug1 at 1200lbs and 800+ horsepower around a bull ring, harder than wrestling a bull, maybe thats why S. Kinser is so good, he was a wrestler in high school!
and a dam good one
dominick virgilio I wouldn't call Eldora a bullring. It's a big, fast 1/2 mile
Harold McCall i never said eldora was bull ring.
Harold McCall i never said eldora was bull ring.
Chico is a bullring. Check my channel.
Hi my name is Abby Boespflug
is it over yet?
Good video shows how much is going on in the car.. From this angle the driver looks so exposed his left elbow is so close to the rear wheel. I know there all like it just haven't seen it from this angle before
@jeepasaurusrex any way did you go to the world 100
thanks guys, never seen those before.
those dirt racing guys are so brave...they make grand prix drivers look stupid for having such wide safe run offs..GP circuits should have concrete walls to make the drivers learn to use the braks and gears.
It's a non-wing 410. Chad runs USAC...
Skinny Colsons new engine apparently will have about the 900hp mark.
You are working that wheel
these are the cars that have the asymmetrical suspension and steering settings on each of the wheels, right ?
+WillieStroker? NoButiWillLetYourMom actually sprint cars have transmissions, they are just single speed and the ratio, if i remember correctly, is 1:1
+Keegan Lauster You are incorrect as Willie said they are direct drive drive shaft connect to back of the motor goes through the torque tube and into the rear end.
+Cody “SlideWayz” Downard thanks for the correction! after i started working on my bosses sprint car i realized what i said was wrong.
+Keegan Lauster depends some people call the box that engages the drive a transmission. I've heard a few times in the pits and was like what are you guys talking about.

thats nice
How can you clowns dislike this video! Great vid!
Brssgirl, the ties conected to his arms keep his hands/arms in the vehicle incase of a rollover or other bad scenario.
Did anyone else hear in the background, someone say... "I got two arms left?" Honestly, this is a serious question, if you can believe it!!
Between 4:47 - 4:52 you be the judge!! Dose he still have "two arms left" or what?
wish espn still showed world of outlaws races
might be a rear shock adjustment
At :38 he adjusts one of those knobs down by his hands. What do they do?
Jefferson Lambert brake adjustments on the left and i believe air fuel ratio on the right?
They're arm restraints. Necessary to control a driver's arms during a flip
When you first rolled out you twisted that knob to your right. What was that?
Shock adjuster, adjusts the speed of rebound.
He needs a “Neckers Knob.”
I don't think most eople realize that if you get t boned in a sprinter there's really no protection other than your nerf bars. Man it hurts to.
now for a bit of speedway NZ history... we started with bikes and road cars in farm paddocks. since they enjoyed it they made proper tracks, started racing on horse tracks and slowly the cars became more powerful.

The knob to the drivers right side to to adjust to rear torsion bar. To stiffen the rear, or soften it...

Max Dumsney and B rooke Tatnell are 2 Aussies over here that I can recall off the top of my head.
My friend there is an on off switch on the camera. I cant imagine how long it took to upload that video. Keep People interested.
my bad it is wingless but still is far from a kart
Arm restraints.
What the hell are you in?
He was engaging the transmission to jump start it
No transmission. He was engaging the rear end.
***** Haha
Randy Townsend yep no trans. direct drive
Bruiser5K you laugh, but it's true.
***** Oh I wasnt laughing cause it was wrong :p

For those of you that have a life, fast forward till the 6:50 mark
hmmm, was it just me or was he running a lot of wheel.
he runs a wingless car, generally do a little more wheeling! lol
Cj Anderson that car is winged
+Sam Haycock that is a non winged car he races U.S.A.C
So where do they race those lawnmowers?
the exact moment your drilling holes in your steering wheel is the exact moment you've gone too far
Ash that's how the steering wheel is light weight
There are 14 full time drivers in WoO Sprints.
13 in WoO Late Models, whats your point?
Why not? you cant seem to even answer the questions Ive asked, nor can you prove that you know what you are talking about... Ive done both so Ive already won anyway...
this post is just for kicks! :)
7 minutes before the car even rolls! Horrible camera angle....doesn't represent why you're sawing on the steering wheel.
I like the mube
He looks bored...lol
Get your own life. I decide what mine is.
looks like you need a quicker steering box
for real...edit
