This made me incredibly happy. I had long curly hair as a kid and would stay over at my grandma’s house. She lived with her sister, my great aunt. My great aunt was the kindest, gentlest person that I have ever met. She would play with my hair and was so gentle and sweet. She never had children and I was the only girl in my family so she loved to spoil me. This takes me back to sitting on the couch with her while she played with my hair, mantle clock ticking, smell of cookies baking. Ahhhh, to go back in time…

My nanna used to put my hair in rags when i was six, back in the early 197Os. Then I’d have a mass of curls the next day. It’s one way to get curly hair. I still remember it fondly. She was the only one in our family who knew how to do it.
