I'm a bit behind watching your videos Taylor but I've got a coffee in hand, you're on, boats in the water, suns up and my little guy playing cars in the background. I'm smiling😊
A trolling motor or kicker can save your butt if the big motor dies for any reason, and it will at some point. A four stroke runs smooth and quiet while a two stroke of equal hp has slightly more torque. One of my first boats was an older 16' fiberglass similar to yours. It had a Mercury 1000 which was 100hp. Now I have a much more modern aluminum 18' walleye boat with a 150 Evenrude. I mostly fish but sometimes use it for cruising or towing my kids on tubes or skis. Welcome to the costly but fun world of boating. Be safe.
Greetings, Words to live by. USE REVERSE as a BRAKE and turn the wheel sharply. It won't take long to figure it out and you will glide up sideways and never hit a dock again. In and out of gear and make sure to give it some power when throwing it in reverse. Idle speed won't help. Reverse is very quick and back to neutral and forward. Its easy Bro. Just don't panic or get in a hurry. Works well when Wind, Wakes and Waves are working against you. My favorite side was Port to dock on. This way console was not in the way of boarding. Oh and good thinking on the outboard up grade. You will enjoy the trim and tilt feature. Dang Taylor I am so excited and Happy that you Did It!! Got your boat. Now go make some lasting memories. One Last Thing ... Always Double check the wench strap and safety chain and PLUG each time you load. I failed to double check my self on my last Brand New off the show room floor boat and the guy that came with me unhooked my strap and I hear these guys yelling so I stopped and found only the bow of my boat on my trailer. Thank God I always tilt my engine up infill in the water. I double check EVERYONE who helps out now. Thanks for all you do
Congratulations Captain. You looked like a kid in a candy store with an unlimited budget behind the wheel of your new boat.Your smile said it ALL.Enjoy.
Nothing holds like a compound granny knot! Clove hitch is very useful knot. Just go slow and remember that your brakes are reverse! Always put your bumpers out! If you are going to troll with your larger motor you may want to get a drift sock or change the prop to go slower. I would keep the kicker for trolling and as a spare tire. They make in-expensive steering rods to connect the two motors so you can steer with the steering wheel.
Welcome to boat ownership they get expensive really quick but they give a ton of enjoyment. If you are anything like we were and I have been around boats my entire life... you will get the "we need a bigger boat" flu I'd say in about 3 months LOL... enjoy Taylor you deserve this!!! PS the drone footage was great happy you didn't lose it at sea/lake. :)
So happy for you. It feels great when you get something you have wanted for so long. I know that you and Rebecca are going to have many great times with this boat. Loved seeing your beautiful smile, yours too Rebecca.
1 you should be backing into that spot it would be easier ! 2 when you tie on the cleat always flip every time don't rely on one flip not ! 3 keep your kicker it's back up when you're mane quits and trust me it will ! 4 always dock on your control side if you can because you can see better ! 5 learn how to trim your motor so the boat will go through the water faster ! 6 the long pole you have is called a gaff ! 7 if you want to learn how to splice rope I can teach you let me know ! Skål !!!
$4300 for a boat that you probably won't have to do ANYTHING to this year... FANTASTIC! you're doing everything right man, just keep in mind when you get a bigger boat that fenders are your friend.
If there's one thing that I hate about you Taylor, it's that you don't upload often enough. My day is busy enough so everyday when I finally get the chance to hop onto RUclips i'm usually hoping you've uploaded, but you haven't..... /s seriously though I love your content keep it up!
Just signed up for the Harvest Hosts and upgraded to their golf package too! So many awesome places to stay! Safe, quiet, and gorgeous spots for the same price as 2 or 3 nights at a campground! Thank you Taylor for sharing that with us!
Hello young man. take the time to tame your boat. always take your time when approaching a dock. patience is a virtue in boating. You must anticipate the displacement of your boat and the reaction of it to the wind. take the time to place your fenders bumpers on the side of your boat before making your approach to dock at the dock. I wish you a nice day.
Congrats! Just my 2-Sense, it's nice to have a kicker motor, just in case something happens out there to get you back to the dock. I have had a few boats in my life, and the kicker motor was a life saver when no ones on the lake, happy boating my friend!🖒
Taylor, this reminds me of taking my boat out for the first time. I had no experience either so I took it to my local lake on a drizzly Wednesday morning assuming I'd have the place to myself. Wow, was I wrong! It just so happened that was the morning all the local fire departments were doing their water rescue training. Picture 100 muscle bound firefighters carrying around boats and gear like a bunch of Navy Seals! I almost aborted and went back home, but I didn't. I just feigned confidence and acted like I knew what I was doing...and since that day I've loved every minute of owing a boat. One piece of advice (boat people love giving unsolicited advice)...don"t go out unless you're 100% comfortable with the conditions and traffic on the lake. People might try to get you out on a lake that's over your skill level. I live in Michigan and friends ask if we can go out on Lake Michigan. I've never said yes. Haha. Or there's the situation where you've promised someone a ride so you feel kind of pressured, but the weather is marginal. Don't be afraid to postpone. I hope you're having a blast!
Taylor, your boat is definitely worth $4300. But don't forget that the times of enjoyment are priceless. Glad you're back and can't wait to see you on that boat!! Congrats!
The boat came with the stick was my favorite part! 😂 Get a Tow Plan dude. That will save you hundreds of dollars if you ever need a tow! Also, get an experienced captain to show you how to properly dock a boat. You’re coming in waaaay too fast! It isn’t like a car at all. Read up a little online to know what to do in different conditions too. Get some more bumpers. Docks can be unforgiving. ❤️🎺❤️
You my friend have quickly learned the most important part of equipment on a boat is the power. You have leap frogged over one of the most disappointing factors of owning a boat by purchasing a four stroke fuel injected motor. My only advice is unless you are going way off shore and feel the need of the security of a second power unit on your vessel don't put the kicker motor on your boat. It adds weight and now you don't really need it. Congratulations.
For cleaning carbs, the best thing i've ever found is "ChemDip" I bought it at walmart (as much as I try to avoid that place) and it works great. Soak all the carb parts that are metal in it for 24 hours and them spray it off with a good carb cleaner like CRC. Works great but make sure you get all the chem dip off or it can gum up! I used it on a few dirt bikes and it does the job perfect! Glad to see you are in a boat, ive spent most of my summers on one!
I sooo know how you feel! Bought my first boat last fall and this summer was the first summer of using the boat. I guess a good rule to docking is, don't go in at a faster speed then you are willing to hit the dock at. Slow is a sign of a pro (like I am one :) ). I too bought a very cheap boat that I fixed up a little and use it to learn how to drive and handle a boat. Boat is a Vator 17ft with a 70hp 2stroke Yamaha. Plenty of fun for the money
One of my biggest pet peeves as a boat owner is that there is always a group of people fishing off of the boat dock that I want to use. As a boat owner, I pay extra taxes/fees on my boat every year for the privilege to have unimpeded access the boat docks.
I gotta tell ya, I live in the same area as Taylor and Rebecca and the last few days have been like summer. We had an unusually cold February but now we're making up for it. 20* C today
Nice! Nothing beats the piece of mind with all new powertrain, you will get your moneys worth this summer for sure! Looking forward to the new dynamic of your vids with the addition of a boat!
Good to see you enjoying your new boat on the water. I saw snow on land so it must still freeze at night. You need to drain your motor of water or it too will freeze..
Looking at that forward deck, I bet with a bit of work you will be able to bring back that gelcoat to a nice blue shine. I use Mcquirers boat polishes and waxes, been very satisfied in their performance. They make a light oxidation removing formula that can be appied with a orbital polishers or by hand, really cuts thru the oxidation without removing the gelcoat. Is the antennae for a fm radio? If so I would relocate it. Would find it is some distracting. Congratualtions on the boat, I can't wait to get ours back in the water.
Lots of docking videos on you tube. Try not to ride with the fenders out. Trim motor up to plane faster. Its great to see an Rver who also enjoys boating. Your attitude is top notch:)
Also, unless you know you'll just be in one area fishing, try docking in different ways than what you're comfortable with. Life is full of twists if you travel with your boat, lol
I bet you trying to capture your drone would have been a funny video. 🤣 All the good advice is down below. Pretty soon you will be an expert. I do enjoy your enthusiasm!
It is great to see you so happy - enjoy your boat! Here out east the lakes are still frozen... Just to let you know, 4 stroke engines are better suited for trolling, 2 strokes don't like to be run at the same slower rpm for a longer time - so I was told...so sell the kicker... All the best Captain Taylor!
Hey Taylor, I have seen almost all of your videos and enjoy them all. It was cool to see you practicing docking your boat where it said Taylor. It’s 4 spots over from where we park ours. We have a seasonal site there across the Lake from where you dock. You two should boat over for a beer one afternoon this summer. Keep having fun!
That's awesome. Btw, I'm jealous of your docking situation. I'm from an area of heavy current, low tides and wind. It almost easier to get out some time and pull it with you. Definitely try and find some hard areas to practice in as well so you'll always be prepared. Especially if you have to dock during a bad storm or travel somewhere not as easy. Not trying to be rude, but it doesn't get any easier docking than that. Good luck though and happy sailing!
I realize you spent a lot more money than you intisipaded but its worth it to have a peace of mind that you now have a newer reliable engine. So happy for you! Be safe!
Nice job, seeing your dedication to the project is awesome. Getting that mercury 60hp four stroke was a good choice. I have a jet ski that is old and needs work, this inspires me to keep working on it.
I think since u bought a motor and controls..They should of gave you the service free on the other motor...Like why not that would of been the good thing to do...
Aye Aye Captain Taylor and Captain Rebecca. If you guys start drinking rum and singing pirate songs I am going to worry Lol. 1 thing to check on all those fish hooks is if they are barbed and can you use barbed hooks where your fishing. I know there is some regulation in Alberta about barbed hooks that made all my old tackle obsolete. Take care and keep livin that dream.

the happiest days of a boat owner the day you buy it and the day you sell it
Haha, I like when your planing cruising 45 MPH with the wind in your hair surrounded by mountains!
I'm a bit behind watching your videos Taylor but I've got a coffee in hand, you're on, boats in the water, suns up and my little guy playing cars in the background. I'm smiling😊
Theres nothing like livin'!

I'm in the same "boat". Just got my 1st boat. Learning also... Good luck. Safe boating.
Boating is awesome! Sometimes its intense!

Words to live by.

Taylor! For your drone landing issues, maybe get a really wide fishing net to at least catch it or turn it off over that?
Have fun with the boat!
Great idea we have guys on our boat all the time with drones ! The fishing net is a great back up for retrieving a drone . 🦋💕

Bring the fenders/bumpers in when you leave the dock. Screams landlubber if you don’t.
more like PUT THEM OUT instead of ramming the dock over and over again with the hull of the boat.
I agree!
Hello young man. take the time to tame your boat. always take your time when approaching a dock. patience is a virtue in boating.
You must anticipate the displacement of your boat and the reaction of it to the wind. take the time to place your fenders bumpers on the side of your boat before making your approach to dock at the dock.

you're so right, when docking always have the fenders out and in a small marina when busy.both sides
Congrats! Just my 2-Sense, it's nice to have a kicker motor, just in case something happens out there to get you back to the dock. I have had a few boats in my life, and the kicker motor was a life saver when no ones on the lake, happy boating my friend!🖒

Please tell me that you aren't out there on the lake at 7AM waking up all the campers with a boat motor. :)
OH YES I AM LOL
rub it in, boat launches around me are still frozen, lol also, the kicker is nice as Insurance incase your 60 dies out on the water.
Same here
I gotta tell ya, I live in the same area as Taylor and Rebecca and the last few days have been like summer. We had an unusually cold February but now we're making up for it. 20* C today
Awesome... it runs, finally!
Success!

Good for you. I'm jealous.
Nice! Nothing beats the piece of mind with all new powertrain, you will get your moneys worth this summer for sure! Looking forward to the new dynamic of your vids with the addition of a boat!
Most importantly; boats don’t have brakes. Reverse is your friend!
Trim up that prop to plane...you’ll go faster and have a smoother ride!
Good for you. Picking Harvest Hosts is perfect for you and a good company. Way to go. Congrats on the new motor.
Congrats brotha I know how long you've been talking about getting a real boat, its nice to see this dream finally come true for you. Enjoy it!
The experience is priceless. It's worth it when you are having fun 🚤🚤🚤
Good to see you enjoying your new boat on the water. I saw snow on land so it must still freeze at night. You need to drain your motor of water or it too will freeze..
Great video of the boat Taylor Congratulations. I myself have bought a boat enjoyed it. Skied with it and sold it.

The motor is awesome, love Chevy. The home, it’s tiny, still love it. The BOAT!
Hello, caption
Dreaming of boats day and night!
It is great to see you so happy - enjoy your boat!

Just to let you know,

Awesome!!! I am jealous and can't wait to get my little 18' boat out of storage and get on the water....
Good luck with that Mercury! Keep the kicker, trust me. You will have a blast with that boat, enjoy!
Was missing the frequent uploads. As always, thanks for the content. Cheers.
Well look like you got the boat working. I’m sure you’ll find many hours of pleasure with the boat. Enjoy it. But be safe. ☕️☕️🍩
Love the idea of Harvest Host! will definitely check there website out! Enjoy the warmer weather and the boat Taylor..:)
Hey Taylor, I have seen almost all of your videos and enjoy them all. It was cool to see you practicing docking your boat where it said Taylor. It’s 4 spots over from where we park ours. nice to see ya got it all done and out on the water Taylor! love it
Had Har ya lubber, fenders up underway. Congrats on your boat. Take a Coast Guard course on boat handling and safety.
That's awesome. Btw, I'm jealous of your docking situation. I'm from an area of heavy current, low tides and wind. It almost easier to get out some time and pull it with you. Take a CG safety course. They are given by the CG Aux.
Congrats! Nothing like your first boat. Enjoy!
Great video Taylor ! Drone footage
Audio and Music is perfect !🌷
I realize you spent a lot more money than you intisipaded but its worth it to have a peace of mind that you now have a newer reliable engine. So happy for you! Be safe!

Glad to see the boat going. I was glad to see a new video too.
Dude....you got a BOAT.!!
Looked Harvest Hosts up online and think I can use it Thanks Taylor
I real great service hey !
Can you track a boat? I'm planning to run away from my abusive family without being caught....
You know what boat stands for right? “Break out another thousand” should be boatt with two ts for two thousand lol
If I tried to multitask flying a drone and boating it would most assuredly make for interesting viewing. Great footage Taylor.
Thanks for the Harvest Host Tip, my wife and I will make good use of that, cheers
Chase your dreams Taylor! Chase them... love your videos
Very happy for you. You might want to get several more fenders.
Looking forward to these videos Taylor.
I waited 13 minutes into this video to finally get to learn how to drive a boat.
You make the best Captain! I have enjoyed being beside you as this process of boat ownership has progressed. That drone footage was awesome! What beautiful water to practice on. I can hardly wait to see the first mate drive (Rebecca). Keep us with you.
I do believe you are living your dream. Congrats on your boat
Happy for you, bud. Looking forward to those other videos. Awesome drone shots btw.
Awesome boat!
That long stick with a hook is called a gaff lol
Hope you read my comment about using high test or regular and anti alcohol additive....it's a Canadian must.
Bought my first boat recently to spent 12000$ and then had to bring it the shop and spent another 2500$. Fun toys but not cheap buy any means
It's a great feeling learning how to drive a boat. Have fun bro.
The best feeling!
Such an exciting day for you! Concratulations Ty !!
Congrats on the boat! Been waiting on a new video!
That intro music is amazing! Please where can i buy it? Congrats on the boat! I know it's been a long time coming! CABIN NEXT!
great to see the boat running enjoy
You don’t drive a boat, you “Captain” a boat. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Harvest Host. They are mostly “boon docking” sites from what I’ve seen on other full time RV channels.
You can enjoy you new boat when not constantly worrying about being stranded.
That's funny you said the boat came with it instead of saying it came with the boat
Watch those wake zones.
Nice to see you wearing a life jacket Taylor
Safety first!
Look you can tell how fast you are going by seeing how far the antenna is bent backwards! ha
Put the kicker back on, twice the chance to get back home.
Throwing her in reverse when docking so reminded me of Nick Adonidas!
what a great day to be first one out on the water...
You boat is a classic. I'll bet you the previous owner would be thrilled to see how much you are enjoying it. That Harvest Host plan looks like a great deal. The new motor on the boat was a great investment. On a different note...I would pay money to watch you trying to land that drone and then trying to grab it....oh, that had me rolling....too funny my brother!
Theres nothing like droning on the water! Ill be droning next summer forsure!
You don't need a kicker anymore. It would be dead weight.
Boats and ho's, boats and ho's, gotta have me my boats and ho's... - Prestige Worldwide
Welcome back yo!
Harvest Host sounds awesome
cool have fun
Never seen a 4 stroke smoke like that
Never by a boat unless you do a compression test on the engine first. You're buying the motor not the boat
Way to go Tayz!
