    That makes sense. Storm on earth usually weaken on land, which is denser than the ocean. An ocean would still be denser than a cloud of gas on Jupiter.

    Hmm... so ... Logically applying the dark forest solution to the Fermi paradox we can conclude that it's probable that intelligent alien lifeforms are hiding in this way.

      Humans: **start hiding**
      Aliens who have been watching for millions of years: "that's sus"

    • @connorsniples4010
      @connorsniples4010 Год назад

      Not really. It's not illogical to say that they're hiding, but if they are they're almost certianly not using this method. After all, this pulsed orange laser method has two big downsides - one, you have to know who's looking already, you can't point the laser randomly you have to point it at the alien planet directly; and two, it's only good at blocking aliens using the transit method, which is a rather lousy method for finding exoplanets. It's just the one we use most right now because it's the easiest to do. But the JWST is already on the edge of being able to do direct imaging - not quite there yet, but not too far off - and this method would do nothing to prevent that. It also doesn't prevent the radial velocity method, nor the recent method to detect exoplanet magnetic feilds. Basically, it only works to hide yourself from a civilzation only as advaced as we were in 2005, and there's no point hiding from people who can't reach you or do anything to you. It wouldn't stop us in 2023 from finding you, let alone stop truly advanced aliens.

    To be fair, we could also hide if aliens don't exist. There wouldn't be a point, but it could be done the same way.

    I have often wondered if phenomena like the GRS is a result of a moon or planetoid slowly being torn apart in the upper layers of the planets atmosphere. Its shrinking could be that it is almost done being worn away.

    The Universe has gotten to know itself through us and how hubris indeed it has become. We are merely the Universe opening an eye before it rolls back over to slumber. *What a concept and inherently hubris... but, I like it just the same.

    We don't really know if Jupiter has a surface. From what I could gather it seems most probable, at least to me (an uneducated pleb), that it does have one. Just not the traditionally rocky one we usually picture.
