I've had my heart broken time and time again by this franchise, so I have no trust with the bears to fix it. HOWEVER, I will not lie I cheered when we got Caleb, and I cheered when we got Ben Johnson. The hope is what kills ya, but man I hope this team can do something these next couple years.
I'm right thefe with you, my friend. It's been painful year after year. I think we're finally headed in the right direction. But I'm not getting overly excited. Been burned too many times
I think you should be very optimistic. I liked what Coach Johnson had to say about building the team around Caleb. You have you QB…o line next? Good luck.
Caleb Williams stats this season... 3,541 Pass Yards 489 Rush Yards 20 Pass TDs 6 Interceptions For a guy who got sacked almost 70 times, who was the team's leading rusher in 7 games this season, who had one of the worst passing AND running O Lines in the league, it's amazing that he even had the stats he did. It's also amazing he was able to play all 17 games with the way he was getting hit lol. The kid is tough. He's also the first Bears QB since Cutler in 2014 to have over 4000 total yards. But yeah, I was one of the biggest Fields fans there is, and still am, and I wanted to keep Fields and trade the pick. Yet Caleb, even with the overall team's performance this season, makes me excited for what the future will look like. It might not even happen next year, but literally anything is better than what the 2024 season was for the team and Ben Johnson really does seem like the perfect coach for a QB like Caleb, and this roster in general. At the end of the day, all we want is results and to get back to being a respectable franchise.
Im hoping we keep Fields in Pittsburgh. Love that guy, and i think he has a lot of potential. Our moronic coaching staff needs to get it together and build an offense around his strengths.
Bears fan logic 2023: OLine is fine, Fields just suck 2024: Oline sucks (even though it's the same from 2023), Caleb is the answer Bears fans are just as clueless as their team, the management, and players
@@athras8822Caleb Williams was sacked 67 times. Despite this, he avoided an extra 50 sacks. The next most avoided sacks by a QB? 28, by Lamar Jackson. It’s the O-line.

Bears only have about 4 games next season that they are likely to be favored. All the other games are gonna be tough games against good teams. Can’t wait to see how Ben handles this
As a Steelers fan, its weird to say I kinda like every team in the NFC North. Grew up rooting for Lions as a Sanders and Megatron fan, its hard to not want Love to succeed after the shit he went through, and I like KOC and Johnson. I feel like the NFC North is the least hateable division right now.

Sean McVay is one of one. Can’t compare anyone else to him. He is a genius, but also has extremely good communications and social skills. Ben Johnson strikes me more as a Kliff Kingsbury type.
I think a lot of people just hate on Williams out of spite for his personality and success. Deep down they know he’s talented and with the right leadership can 100% be successful in this league. They will get Caleb rolling. The tools are there they just need to foundation to make it stand
Dudes been overrated since he took his first snaps in college at Oklahoma. Remember they were saying many of the same things for Spencer Rattler just before Caleb took over at QB. The guy has talent that can’t be denied, but he is not as good as people hyped him up to be. At best he will have an Andy Dalton type career.
People say Caleb didn’t look good but was 15th in touchdown passes and had a 3.333 touchdown to interception ratio and over 4000 total passing and rushing yards. His worst problem was taking sacks if he can do that I think he can be really good
@ I did watch every game actually and yes he had bad games everyone has but Caleb also had games where he was clearly our best player you don’t have 4 touchdown games and gritty fourth quarter comebacks almost all of which failed where you’re literally perfect if you’re just bad the kid had ups and downs definitely more downs but he also had incompetent coaching and a bad oline to say he was just completely useless as a rookie is outright wrong and willfully ignorant or just a straight lie cuz you don’t like the bears and honestly I care more about the opinion of one of the brightest offensive minds in football and he said that he was a determining factor in his decision so if Ben thinks he’s good I feel inclined to believe him and not some random loser on the internet
I think Da Bears are Perna's back up team, Broncs are his main squeeze no doubt but I see him eyeing the Bears as his side piece, I can hear the love in his voice!
As a lions fan I’m immensely torn. On one hand Ben has meant so much to this rebuild of the lions and helped make this team what it is… on the other I hate the bears and if he fails with them this may break the bears fans sprits to a level previously unseen….
Bears fan can be optimistic but as a dolphins fan I’ve seen this story firsthand. Mike McDaniels seemed like a great signing when he “tailered” the offense to Tua but now he sucks and is horrible with the traits that actually matter as a head coach like coach challenges and time management and stubbornness in play calling. Mike McDaniel also refuses to give up offensive play calling duties even though there is an offensive coordinator who can probably freshen up the play calls. I know that Ben Johnson was an offensive coordinator with top rated offenses and not a run game coordinator but just trying to be a little realistic but hope he can fix the bears finally
Great point about the Johnson-Gase comparisons. All of Gase's HC jobs came after working with Peyton Manning. Johnson revived Goff's career after he had a dip in production. And Johnson isn't like Nagy either. Nagy was a product of Andy Reid and Nagy only called plays for 6 games. Johnson called plays for most of the last three years, coaching a Top 5 offense each year. And the No. 1 offense in 2024.
Mr. Perna, a friendly grammar check. When you say, for example, twenty ought twenty-two, the number would be 20022, not 2022. The ought signifies a zero. The correct statement would be two ought twenty-two to mean 2022.
Honestly, i think he’s going to be great. One of the better teams of the future will be in his hands… saying this as a packers fan. But, he definitely gave Matt LaFluer a reason to work hard to beat him
Only time will tell with this but I don't think there's any other choice we could have made better in this case. It is the bears though so I am not going to be optimistic until results are actually shown.
The sacks are interesting because 1: the line was rough and if bolstered with talent and coaching could improve a lot and 2: I feel like Caleb was coached to avoid turnovers and that was part of the reason that he held on to the ball too long. “Whatever you do don’t throw a pick” which works when you want the rookie record for attempts without a pick, but doesn’t do jack for teaching a QB how to actually play the game. HITS held Caleb back for sure.
As a Lions fan, I'm happy for both coordinators. I appreciate everything they helped achieve while they were here. They deserve a shot at being HCs. I only hope they don't do well when they play the Lions. Otherwise, I wish them the best.
