  • I am constantly dumbfounded by creatives who knowingly put themselves in situations where they can't do their best work.
But before we get to that, I have to replace the shear collar on a Heidelberg Windmill.
My mechanic friend said it was the worst he's ever seen!

@@afinepress Just locked up our 10 x 15 black ball windmill (noob eror, double fed some 50pt stock we're die cutting) and fortunately we didn't break the shear collar. We were able to back off the flywheel and release the impression, but know how to deal with a sheared collar when the (inevitable) problem arises!

If the world would work this way it would be awesome. I respect your conviction. You may not appreciate this but my guidance comes from Proverbs, Whatever you find yourself doing, do it as though you're doing it for the Lord.

Dude, there was one bolt that had a piece of metal on it. That piece has a V in it that is supposed to stop the centre bolt spinning itself loose. That piece of metal and that bolt should be put on last. Your centre bolt is sitting on top of that steel instead of being cradled by it. Loosen the centre bolt, take that bolt and piece of steel off, tighten centre bolt so it lines up to that piece of metal and refit the metal to lock the centre bolt in place. ;)

I mean, I think it can still be *work,* but I think it lacks integrity to do anything less than your best. And that ain't easy.
