    One problem with both designs is there are no vents to cool the internals. I have the smaller, stock one shown in the video, which got extremely hot even with fresh lubrication, almost as hot as the exhaust. Within under 100 miles of riding, the chain was so stretched that it slipped right off. After 3 crude attempts at fashioning a suitable chain tensioner for this narrow enclosure, I gave up and decided the best option was to simply cut off, reposition, and remount the drive sprocket end to the face-plate. Also required are some air holes in the front and back, which could have prevented the need for this fix for thousands of miles. Got what I paid for on this budget ebay engine kit...

    I think the main selling point for me (besides the things you said), is that I can change my gearing to my needs. Power sprockets and speed sprockets are important.

  • @AuMechanic
    @AuMechanic 6 лет назад +3

    I have some videos on CVT and fixed gear units tried and what failed.
    Those holes in the clutch bell are needed for cooling, heat is the enemy of those friction clutches..
    You would be better to have a vented casing or caged top cover, there is no gain to having it enclosed it only traps heat.
    Chains do not need grease on the outside and it just flies off anyway, they need lube on the inside on the pivot pins.
    Put chains in a hot chain lube bath that sets solid inside the pins.
    It will be faster and cleaner in production hanging a bunch of chains and lowering them in a lube bath then hanging to drain and cool than greasing them like that and will provide better lube over life that wont run out or fly off.

    The problem is the clutch it wears out fast due to the force placed on it and the heat it gets really hot . The shoes on mine wore out on a couple of rides and left me stranded. The clutch on these are not realible. Iam using the ezqmatic now much better clutch but heavier transmission . But last longer before replacing clutch.

      pds tech: I wonder if I might put it another way for you. Once all that grease has flung off onto the casing it will likely stay there, serving no further benefit. However chains and sprockets love lubrication for long life. Perhaps if they could seal that housing and either run oil in there or a thick honey grease which can always get back onto where it is needed it would be much better.

    While I enjoyed you video about transmissions, I’m looking at building 4 different but equal sized bikes. Each bike will have a different engine, while 2 engine are easily available, it is the others that I need help with locating or having built, a 4 stroke diesel with the displacement of 49cc, and a 49cc 2 stroke diesel. These will not only be used as transportation, but also as test engines for economy, and durability. Any help with locating the 2 Diesel engine and configuring a transmission set up will be greatly appreciated thank you for your help.
    Ps. I’m thinking of using a “CVT” transmission setup with a belt final drive.

    Ok all very good points and big difference in quality. But I did not hear anything about price difference? Plus we are talking about 49cc four stroke engines, that if your lucky make what 1-2 hp and 2-5 lbs ft tq? Yes the Double chain system will run longer, probably longer than the engine! To make a determination I’d have to compare prices. What would really be something is for someone to design and build a torque converter the same size! That would be amazing!

    • @bikeberry
      @bikeberry  6 лет назад

      The competitor's transmission was sent to us by a costumer, with no price information, to compare the differences. We assume the prices are similar. I always wondered why the bikeberry four-stroke engine kit always got really bad reviews, it looks really good compared to some of the other kits. Well I bought it and now I know why. Here's the lowdown, engine is really nice, wide crank arms are really nice. The mounting plate is even pretty nice, I had to drill the holes out a little bit to make them bigger but it is very solid. So why does this kit get such bad reviews. Worst transmission by far out of all the 49cc Transmissions. The transmission they are trash talkin is probably the best one. It's a $50 transmission when it starts to fail you just buy a new one. The transmission that comes with the bikeberry kit is absolute garbage. Not smooth at all, and doesn't work very well with a 415 chain ether, I don't know what chain it does work well with but definitely not a 415.

      @@kaedon5241 I don't think they sell the single chain ones by them shelves any more, gas bikes used to sell them, they're not the best though. Spend the extra money on the Knight G8 transmission from king motor bikes or Gass bikes. A little pricey but the one I have has thousands of miles on it, I had to change a $10 belt on it once, only because I whacked it pretty good with the pedal. That and they don't blow through clutches like the other single change transmission does. You also have to go with a smaller Sprocket in the rear, they're geared quite a bit lower than the single chain transmission.

      Not in my experence. I had a 4G that broke on me twice within the first month & just got tired of fixing it. I don't think its that much more reliable than any other cheap Chinese made 4 stroke transmission. The clutch bell & the nuts & bolts are crap. The best transmission you can get for those 4 stroke engines is the EZM Qmatic but it costs twice what the 4G costs & requires an adapter to make it work on tapered shaft engines.
      I converted to a 2 stroke because they are far more simpler & cheaper & can outlast most 4 stroke kits if installed right with good quality hardware. Had to get used to mixing oil with gas though but it became almost second nature to me now. If you ever do go with a 2 stroke get the Zeda80 from Bicycle Engines. com. Its the best 2 stroke out there & you can choose sprocket sizes before you buy.

    Do you have a 7G T-Belt Drive transmission gear box / 5/8 shaft, I purchased a 4 stroke 49cc motorized bike with belt drive transmission gear box ,and I'm having problems with the sprocket that fits the back wheel sprocket, what can I do to resolve this problem, the sprocket on the transmission gear box seems to be very loose maybe it's the bushings, I don't know

      My bike also has the 7 gears,when you get the motor it comes with 1 gear that goes on the opposite side of the tire. You do not use the 7 gears for the motor only when you want to pedal the bike.Trust me you will be peddling! mine beaks down all the time and I have less than 300 miles on it!

    if you break a gearbox chain your fkt, you can't by the chains I've broken the chain twice the chains are to week for these engins, they should use a 410 415 chain only or big ads cogs both these gearboxes need throwing in the bin also I broke the clutch bell she hits 38mph I only go 25 and still broke it with only 1 tank of fule. chains stretched as well, getting wide peddles cranks is not possible as well, you would not need a large crank rod that is over 20cm long if the peddles in the kits had a wider spacing, my kit did not come with a crank rod, and the wide peddle arms need to be wider to except the standard crank rods, in Australia u can't get these rods nore the chains nor the 1 pice crank nor anything, Alibaba only sells engine kits not the parts nor crank arms and eBay don't sell them nor does not does crap ass Amazon, sell the chains or peddles kits bike berry is the only one of about 4 USA sellers but they only sell to USA.

    • @bikeberry
      @bikeberry  6 лет назад

      It is because of the risk of chain and cog breakage that we began to carry the heavier transmission. It evenly displaces tension across both cogs and chains. We do sell outside of the US, the only issue being the cost and time for shipping.

    I have had to change the chain shaft sprocket 2 times because they just snap in half,also the clutch hub snapped at the weld.So this is 4 times I broke down miles from home!I have less than 300 miles on the thing.Not fun for me to walk the bike home,I'm a heart patient,1 total knee replacement 6 months ago,the other is being replaced this winter.I have a steel rod in 1 leg, and I'm a diabetic pushing 60, and I ride like a 60 year old man-slow.I would not recommend getting one of these bikes unless your healthy enough to push it just about every time you use it!!!!

    • @billm3573
      @billm3573 8 лет назад +1

      Not necessarily BikeBerrys products. In general the clutch systems for these bikes suck.Mines all china made and now since I commented and replaced those parts again the motor is running like shit.I'm pretty good with mechanical things(motors and such)so my advice would be not to buy the cheaper versions of these kits from anyone. BikeBerrys service is great.You get what you pay for is all I can say.

    • @billm3573
      @billm3573 8 лет назад

      Just a heads up for you.I replaced the clutch bell rotor in July and it's only Aug. 30th and it has broken too.Iv'e driven it less than 60 miles this time.So far now this is 3 clutch bell rotors and 3 chain sprocket gears at about $120,plus waiting for shipping and doing the work on it too.I'm 57 years old 190 lbs and I ride like an old man would.The motor was running shitty as I said before and I figured this out too.The inside if the gas tank rusts terrably and ends up clogging the gas filters(one is in the shut off valve on the tank itself) so you have to clean the carb out also and change the gaskets..I do keep fixing these things because it is a blast to ride it when it's running. Mine is the flying horse 49cc 4 stroke.

      My suggestion would be to buy an actual Honda engine and CVT for it. There's a reason these kits are so cheap

    • @gooseknack
      @gooseknack 8 лет назад

      The problem, is the cheap kits are designed for motor assisted pedaling... it appears the bikeberry transmission is designed more for motor only riding. The problems you had with your motor, clogging filters and carbies, can happen with any make or brand.. Whether it's a Honda or Chinese replica.. I suggest checking your fuel source too for contamination.

    how is this a transmission? its just a damn centrifugal clutch with a chain in a box. just get the cluch and run straight to wheel sprocket for more power and less fail.

    • @american0153
      @american0153 4 года назад

      Anything that that transfers power to the wheel is called a transmission. You’ll actually loose torque and horsepower if you use the pedal sprockets.

    • @theatom7264

      Stoyan Zashev; the 5G dual chain is just a modified CVT pocket bike transmission & those single chain CVT pocket bike transmissions cost about $30. The single chain transmission shown in the video is a pocket bike CVT transmission. I plan on just modifying that transmission with better quality components from Staton Inc. Would still be cheaper & hopefully better than the 5G.
