      Look at England fans at the Euro 2020 final (at Wembley) doing many of the same things to get in. Most fans would do this. The organising committee for this event must have been made up of small children.

    Yes you can prepare for this. In South America it is done all the time. However, the Copa organizer, CONMEBOL, came to do a money grab and did not invest in the organization and security of this event. They will be the ones getting sued by American lawyers, so CONMEBOL will no doubt have legal entanglements in the US come the next World Cup in 2026.

      @@texasfight210I live in London and I’m a lifelong Chelsea fan. Violence at matches was a big problem in the UK in the past. It was stamped out by police so it is not common anymore. Look up football hooligans and there’s plenty of videos on RUclips. Now it’s just English thugs who travel abroad that still do it. They’re not real supporters but use football as an excuse for violence.

    Im from Miami. I'm half peruvian I've been to the stadium to see Croatia and chile vs peru that's a huge classic rivalry game . And none of that happened. Peru played against Argentina in this cup and there was no mayhem. Sad to say it was just the colombian side that caused that damage

    With the overpriced tickets raging from $2.000 Dollars all the way to $20.000 they could have definitely hired a lot more security and personnel for a football match of this magnitude, very greedy organizers.

    Argentina has played 30 Copa America finals, yet Argentine fans never tried to enter without tickets or through the air ducts.
    The fact that you see some people wearing Argentina jerseys does not mean they're Argentines. Messi fans are everywhere.
    Colombians caused this chaos. They tried to enter with fake tickets first. Then, they sneaked into the stadium.

    I remember going to Mexico vs Senegal at Soldier Field in 2010. Had to go to the bathroom at halftime, along with like half the stadium. Was literally a shoulder to shoulder shuffle where you got to the front, pissed wherever, and shifted to the back to let someone else go. Was wild, to say the least.

    Not surprising, the Colombian fans are fanatical about their team.
    I’ve only been a soccer fan for 5-6 years, beginning when my son started playing soccer. I took him to a US v Colombia game in Tampa a few years back and Colombia’s two superstars were working out in the gym at 7:30 AM, the morning after the game. As we’re swimming at that time, dozens of Colombia fans start scaling the walls of the hotel to get into the gym to get pics and autographs. Closest thing to Beatles’ euphoria I’ve ever witnessed.

    I went to 5 games at the euros including a “high risk” game which was England vs Serbia. They had multiple levels of security at each stadium with outer layers. You couldn’t even get near the stadium. Your ticket had to work twice in two different ways to get in. And you had to enter thru your designated gate. When I got back from Germany, i went to a copa America game which only had the regular security like for any normal event. CONMENBOL did not take security seriously at all. For those blaming Race… this happened at the last Euros with English fans breaking into Wembly.

    As a football lover (not soccer) I think it’s wild to hate on the runtime lmao. The most beautiful thing about soccer imo is playing 2 halves straight through uninterrupted it’s wonderful.

    Pat this won’t be the organization that will be in charge for the World Cup. Conmebol & FIFA are very different and hopefully U.S tightens up as well. When the copa America is hosted in the south, they have fans divided. They have police surrounding the stadium and people without a ticket never get near the front entrance. This was horrible from the security to conmebol

      Good point on the dividing of fans. Not really a thing we do in the USA, but cues should have been taken even from MLS which tries to have a section for the supporter's groups/ultras.

    The damages were made before the game. A lot of people that entered without a ticket were kicked out, (there was a lot undercover police)but it was too late, damage was done. I felt embarrassed, even though I was like 400 miles away from Miami, because of my fellow Colombians behavior. I almost got a $2500 ticket but decided not to go, I guess i made the right choice

    I remember working at Dignity Health Sport Park (formerly StubHub Center) for a South American friendly, and man, those fans are TERRIBLE. Zero respect to the staff and workers, had a drunk guy constantly playing with the beer taps before I had to call security, plenty of fights, and trash was everywhere. I just felt really bad for the many kids that was there witnessing all of that. One of the worst 8 hour shifts I've ever worked and it only further solidified my stance of never working food/customer service again.

      I've been to Arsenal vs Man U. at Old Trafford, then years later Arsenal vs Tottenham, at the Emirates and never saw anything like this. The fierce London Darby with no love lost between rival fans. Also they deal with it Swiftly as Bayern fans are not allowed at the Emirates stadium.

    I attended World Baseball Classic and Serie del Caribe (Caribbean Series) games in Miami where the atmosphere was electric and the fan intensity was off the charts. However, fans did not behave this way. This was just unreal.

Not taking a final between Argentinia and Colombia serious enough is honestly stupid, that's one of the few biggest football games in the world. Thanks to FIFA that probably won't happen in the WC 26. To be honest, I would rather go to Brazil or Colombia or Argentinia with my family, then to the USA to watch it. Would be much cheaper and probably much safer. But well, you've got a ton of football fans in the USA and they deserve a WC in their country, too. Basically, if you keep the fans safe and busy, it's the biggest, most fun party you can ever have. I really love to have the world as guests in Germany, the EM was petty nice this year, even though I think the 2006 summerdream was better - mostly because of the weather.

Football is so much bigger than handegg, the USA has to step up to the challenge, when the world comes to visit - every TV in the whole world will show what's going on, even North Korea had public viewings, that time they participated. The only ray of light there is, FIFA knows how to handle huge football events and they will be in charge, so a disaster like the COPA Final shouldn't happen. Known hooligans won't be able to travel to WM countries and security will be much better, as well as the entrance controlls. Good luck USA, hosting some of the worlds biggest party.
