I’m about to book 3 rooms on deck six. A bit concerned about the view. The emergency boats, do they block the view to the extent that I should consider a different deck.?
What kind of room did you book? edge stateroom E3 or E2 ? porthole view? Panoramic ocean view? That will let you know if you have some sort of obstruction. There will be a percentage on your invoice if any. The main problem though is deck 6 is above common areas so it could be a loud cabin as well.
I’ve never been on and Edge class ship, but they seem very innovative and modern. What type of cabin did you stay in? Did you go with the All Inclusive package? How was the wi fi?
We were in an Edge Infinite Veranda. Liked it more than we expected to. We did have the All Included package and the WiFi was great but I did upgrade it to premium for a dirt cheap sale price.
I not so enamored with this class of ship. I think it has design flaws. Like, why are the premium, for-pay restaurants above the at times lively and noisy Martini Bar in the Grand Plaza? That just makes for that energy to flow into the restaurants. The previous class of ships had them in their own area in the aft section. Why does this class of ship not have more meet and greet public areas and why does it treat the Club and Eden as show lounges? Princess Live is better as a showroom lounge and Eden is just a large area that accommodates many things, but doesn't work great as a show lounge. The whole front end of the ship where one could enjoy forward views and forward deck space is restricted from non-suite passengers due to the "class system" of ship within a ship thing with some modern cruise ships. I think the decor has none of the Celebrity feeling of looking back and forward at the same time. Except for Normandie which is evocative and very stylish, it's just generic but nice modern ship. Celebrity ships of previous classes had a ton of modern touches yet hearkened back to the charm of early very stylish areas in design. This ship doesn't evoke that feeling so it could be beautiful, but it isn't distinctive Celebrity style. Just compare this Martini Bar to the one on the Solstice class and that illustrates this well IMO. I find Celebrity trying to be something different in these ships. Celebrity just uses them to show endless amounts of shows and acrobats and don't really provide those venues where passengers can just chill out and enjoy a small ensemble and dance or have tapas and champagne in a room with great sea views with a string quartet playing softly. That's an element of cruising that should be a part of every ship design. It's in Icon of the Seas but not in these ships. It also has the infinite balconies and that's not to everyone's liking. I give the ship a much lower mark, maybe a 2.5 out of 5. I like the 4 MDRs, the theater is very good, the tech is up to date, the cabins are at least spacious if rather gray. I'm glad to see Celebrity stay with provocative modern art they're known for. But, these ships could have been a lot better. There are definitely "Solstice class" Celebrity cruisers vs. Edge ones but I guess there are some that like both classes.
Love your take. I do love the Solstice class ships as well. I see your point about the specialty dining in the main area of the ship and how they can become noisy. But I really do love the Club and Eden as a show venue. I just make sure I get there very early. I guess I like contemporary design so I do find the edge class ships stunningly beautiful.
Have you been on the Ascent? Was my impressions the same as yours? Let us know!
Great review. Super stoked for our cruise on this ship in less than a year!
You will be having a blast! For sure!
How does the ship ride? How were the common areas? Did you pre-pay gratitude’s?
Yes I prepaid my gratuities. Could barely feel the ship move. Very smooth ride. Common areas were beautiful comfortable and not crowded.
We booked our first Aqua Class Sky Suite for a 11 night Panama Canal and Southern Caribbean cruise for March 2026.
Enjoy that cruise. Its a bucket list one for me!

What is your favorite ship/class?
Before it was the Princess Regal class. Now it’s the Edge Class ships.
