I’ve watched several of the barn/workshop build videos. I love how you have been so deliberate and detail oriented with it. It’s truly inspiring. You’ve got a gorgeous place
Morning Lumnah Family! 1) Thank you for putting in my head for two years about hot water for chickens , 12 degrees here today and my chickens were so happy with warm water to drink this morning. 2) you ALMOST gave my husband a heart attack working into the box.. you flipped the main switch but he was concerned for your safety (smile) this comes from watching your channel for two years.. lol... he is an electrician said the box was still hot below the switch.. all I heard was "That box is still hot, careful buddy"... then he explained.
I have been following you from Romania for some time, I appreciate the way of approaching the provincial life, "from the country", as it is said to us. It is a daily ritual starting in the morning, with the visit and feeding of animals and birds in the household. To put it another way, you have a perfect ritual, regarding this activity, although the birds and the pets are a real advantage for those who raise and maintain them, they are part of the family that adopts them, which means spending with their maintenance. However, when the time of sacrifice comes, everyone is pleased. I see that the whole family is engaged, and again your little girl, Olivia, is the happiest little girl, living the true life of the province. Congratulations on this inspiring example, how you can live independently in a provincial environment!
Hi guys, we, my hubby and I watch you a lot, although we don't comment often. I just wanted to say what an awesome family you are! We have raised our boys and are in our 70's now. However, my hubby grew up on a farm and I have grown to love farming and animals. God have exactly what we needed :-) One of the highlights for me is watching your two dogs frolic and enjoy the outdoors and each other so much... lol. Your goats are beautiful, I told hubby I wanted some 🙂 Anyhow, God bless all of you and keep you safe this winter 🙂
Heat sounds so nice. It’s supposed to get down to 27 degrees here in Georgia tonight. And I’m not up in the mountains they will be a bit colder. I have a small heater I put on in the well house when it drops down this cold. I’ll turn it on once it drops this cold and it goes off end of February. Has a thermostat. Just enough to keep my pipes from freezing. Has worked for 30 years. Just an inexpensive heater, but has been wonderful. Used the same one for 28 years and just replaced it last year
In regards to the thermostat, I have the exact same one in my house. The white wire terminal is labeled W (4th from right) and red is R (2nd from right). On the back left corner of thermostat is a switch to set it for gas/oil or electric/heat pump. Make sure it’s electric setting. Operation wise, I never messed with programming it. Press the hold button to override all programming and set it to desired temp for working in shop. Bump it down to whatever nighttime setting you want when you shut down for the day. I think 70° is very optimistic. The specs you mention is for an 8 ft ceiling height, so, you have a lot more than 400 feet of heatable space. Good luck
Mike P , that is exactly right, The output should then match what the heater needs as input. Al, nicely done in regards to heating system. You are just beating the cold weather coming. Snowing still across the border up here in Quebec.
Thank you ... Right now, it's snowing in the mountains of North Carolina ... but it's nothing like a New England snowfall ... Great job getting the heater installed ... You're going to love having heat in an out-building. FYI: When I lived in CT, I had a similar type of heater in the basement of my house. Again, thanks for sharing
I was thinking, “No way did he get everything he needed in just one trip to Lowe’s...” Then you needed another thermostat and I felt validated. Cheers!
Gooooooood Evening Al , Gina & Olivia , What a strange day for me today ( Tuesday ) I received 4 " of snow over Monday night here in Northeast Ohio. And today just before noon , it was 33* F with sun and some clouds. However , even though it was mostly sunny , instead of warming up , the afternoon cooled off ! 28 * F by 3 P.M. with sunshine ! At least the snow has melted off my uphill driveway. Even a 1/4 " of snow can keep me from leaving home. It looks like this weather system is working it's way towards you. It is almost 11 P.M. and it's 20 * F Too cold already. I am already thinking , C'mon spring !
Al, I don't know if u provide grain & water while the flock is inside New York City at night, but during cold weather u must, even if it's well insulated. They will eat 2 regulate their body temps. Decreased grain consumption during the day especially during cold weather could indicate they R not getting enough exposure 2 light/sunlight. Putting a light inside NYC 4 a few hours at night will help. They recommend laying hens have 12-14 hours of light. Hope this helps😁
Watching Olivia with goats, I'm recalling the "cookies" you made for them a year ago. Such excitement for the animals. Good luck with that heater. I saw your weather report, expecting a lot snow. Doesn't seem fair to come on quite so fast! We only have the electric. I am bothered to think we don't have an alternate heat such as wood stove for our home. You've accomplished a lot this year!
Al a programmable thermostat is for homes or offices where the room is occupied at regular frequency. You could setup the below setback programming Monday - Friday 5am 60° Monday - Friday 6pm 50° Monday - Friday 11pm 50° Saturday Sunday 5am 60° Saturday Sunday 6pm 50° Saturday Sunday 11pm 50° Fyi if your in there you can bump up temp and it will setback at 11pm to 50°. Check the temp in workshop on a low temp morning to see how your insulation is performing. I really enjoy your content.
Gina looked so happy standing in front of the heater. If Olivia is a goat whisperer, she's taking after her mother. The goats have certainly grown their winter coats. Very fluffy. That meal looked delicious. Made me hungry.
as per northern tools it requires a 2 pole 240 volt thermostat that will handle 32 amps. the circuit that you ran down the wall is said to be 240 volt or at the very least 120 volts on one leg of it. Al check the wiring diagram to be sure and stay safe out there. anything higher than 24 volts needs to be run in conduit of some kind for your protection as well as the wire..... Note: i am not an electrician but i did stay at a holiday inn once. love the vids and i think i can smell Gina's cooking at the end of each video. thanks for taking us along on your journey, especially for those of us not able to enjoy the life in the country. jim in central florida
For future reference: It is against National electric code (NEC) to run romex, so-cord, etc. in a conduit. Because of heat buildup inside the pipe. run #12 stranded wire better...
Our first snow just finished. Here in East TN we usually don’t get it until February. But we are ready! We got two inches, which is rare this time of year!
7 years ago... I laid in bed freezing in the Pocono mountains of Pennsylvania immobile and lifeless from systemic sclerosis watching your channel. With just a glimmer of hope. Since Vicky my wife and Joshua our son (same age as Olivia) moved to Georgia for a better climate and thriving again. Now I’m about to purchase a small 5 acre lot for my chickens and pigs and goats. I love you Al, Gina, Olivia, Figueroa and Pluto.
JudithB Its 18 degrees this am here in Arkansas and I found some white pellet stuff along the north wall of the barn! Cold enough the LGD slept in his house in the barn last night! I use to make warm oat mashes for my horses and chickens in winter. I like to put cracked corn on the chicken bedding so they are busy scratching for it, the hens get warm doing it and the bedding doesnt pack down.
I didn’t get the complete message about the problem with the thermostat. I do HVAC for a living and generally I would put the simplest heat only thermostat like ones you would install for baseboard heaters. They usually don’t need batteries. The thermostat you have will work as long as you connect between the r or rh and w terminals and use batteries. Also remember that you want to achieve the temp your looking for at the height you install the thermostat at. In other words your comfort zone is determined by thermostat height if that makes sense. Water storage that’s at floor height could still be too cold maybe so there’s that. I still think non-programmable thermostat or simple baseboard style thermostat will be just fine.
@@jeffstock3590 the batteries operate the relays on the control board for such as compressor, heat strips, fan and reversing valve. Mechanical thermostats are better really for this instance.
Al, Gina, Looks lije there is bad weather coming your way. Slow down, wrap up warm and stay safe. I'll be thinking about you all. Wet and frosty here! Regards Stephen.
Al, in the cold weather we supplement our chickens with crack corn, kitten food and black oil sunflower seeds. It helps to keep their body temperature up.🐓🐓🐓🐔
If you end up having to get a different thermostat, you might consider a low temp thermostat. They will allow you to keep the shop just above freezing. Heating is a big expense for us in WI so having the option to lower the heat a bit more than a standard thermostat saves quite a bit.
You could have saved $ and had a much easier time pulling the #8 through the PVC by purchasing single conductors rather than fight the jacket on the able assembly. The jacket is only for physical protection anyway. Kingfish
I can’t believe anyone pulls wire on a simple Installation like this.I’ve wired hundreds of hot tubs and I always assemble the conduit as I go. Also not sure where you buy your wire but the savings is pennys at best over buying the Romex here and it’s so much easier to work with than individual wire.
You probably need an inline thermostat, which is designed to switch the line voltage and higher amps. I you happened to install a regular hwac thermostat, the contacts designed to handle a controll voltage of 24 VAC, are likely already burned out because of excessive load. You potentially could have use the regular hvac thermostat providing that you would add a line voltage relay to handle the high load, and in turn the thermostat would controlled just the coil if that high load relay. Good luck. Love your show.
You might want to mark the new heater wire in the panel. Wrap some black or red tape around that white wire to show it’s hot, not neutral. Do you have to get electrical inspections?
Al I was a contractor not an electrician, However I believe if you use the unwrapped wire as a return for 220/240 you have to connect it to the return bar with the white wires from the 110/120 circuits. Maybe one of the electricians that watch can double check what i am saying
We FINALLY got our first cold temps down here in Alabama. It’s a cool 35* today (@12p) w a fair wind. It’s been in the 70s until today. So we’re a bit behind ya on the cold weather but ready for it!
Remember a few weeks ago when I was complaining about the heat in TN? It’s 21 degrees with snow on ground here. Loving it! Seeing Little P in the feeder every morning makes my heart happy.
My state is stupid with laws and taxes but the only plus side is at 60ish miles east of Los Angeles, I am looking at a high of 85 today with a low of 54 tonight.
All very good reasons why you chose to heat with electric. :) It's very cold here, too. Not looking forward what looks to be a very long and harsh winter.
Looks Great. It’s 18 degrees wind chill 4 winds 20 mph. Not a norm here in West Tennessee. It will be that way for the week high today 30 . Heat is Wonderful
I am wondering why you ran the wiring for the heater through PVC ? It is not a wire that is exposed to weather..so just wondering ? Is that code in your area ? It could have just been run along the framing and put on with wire clamps that can be screwed to the framing. It would have been cheaper and way less time. Of course you would have needed a piece for the wire to run into the heater..so it doesn't have a chance of scraping on the metal heater housing. Just wondering what your thought process was ?
Great job on the heater . Gina looked like she was enjoying it . Check into step Bit or variable drill bit same thing different names . Then the next time you have a opening to small in a matter of a few seconds you now have the size you need .
Was I the only one wating for Al to say "I like it" when the heater was wired up? Haha. Thanks for another great look into your lovely family. About that snow. Here in southern Ontario (Toronto). We got our first snow storm of the year. Loved it.
Me too. If all subscribers got a dollar every time he said it during construction of the barn, we’d all have a nice nest egg for Christmas shopping. 😎👍👏
Did you flip the thermostat selector switch on the back side of the heater to external? That's the "--" for external. "0" for internal. Per heater manual: Note 1: You must turn off the ON/OFF switch on the front of heater before you select the built-in / external thermostat. Note 2. Please find the rocker switch on the back of the heater as shown in Figure 10 and shift the switch to “-” position. Then the heater will be controlled by external thermostat.
@@LumnahAcres - Or you can just cut strips of black electrical tape and wrap it around the white wire. It would then match what the electrician did when he wrapped white tape around the black wire indicating that it was now used for a neutral. Nice looking install by the way.
We added that same heater to our living room last season, it's working great to keep our gas bill down too.. Love what your doing, see you every morning..
Be warm now, woke up this Tuesday morning, was 11° weather man said 14broke the record, for us that's cold! I Kno you guys get it cold there. I'm in South eastern IL. So ready for the state to be split in two with all the gun control up north, filtering down here! Keeping it real, David
Al, you make the electrical to the box look so easy, all that conduit looked hard. using the shop vac to suck the string thru looks fun. do you need two heaters for such a big room? or is this just to take the chill off?
Morning peeps... Great video as usual Al ...I also pick keep the milking stand talk to stay in the videos. No clue on the electrical fix, I call the electrician lol. Blossom and Caleb...nah Zeke NE Wi. is nasty this morning minus10 here.6 mph wind outa the NW.. So besides your first snow you got cold coming hard and fast.... Brrrr cold feels like January out there. I had to blanket the horses last night as this early cold is not good, their winter coats are not all grown in yet. Ppl think its the cold that makes hair grow its actually the light or lack there of. Well stay warm you all and safe... See ya next video.
My Dad was a do everything himself kind of guy but when it came to electrical things he would call in the experts. It did cost him but he wanted to make sure everything was safe. Ok on another subject can you bring the girls Blossom and Buttercup on a chaperoned date where they could meet the boys with a the fence dividing them? That way you can see who they want to "date".
We got our first snow this morning. It went from 50 at around 2am to 28 now and it is really windy. Truck doors were frozen shut. I still need to make that spaghetti, maybe tonight I'll make it with chicken cause momma ain't got no sausage! Blessings to all.
Yea...Hahaha! I'd hate for Zeke to have to see what Caleb & a female goat do AGAIN! Thinking, "Hey! How come "I" can't do that??!?" Or, HEY! I'ts MY turn!" Hahahaha! But I keep thinking that those female goats are a little tall for the 2 boys still....but I don't know anything about breeding, so............
@@susanfurnish4132 Last time Weed Em and Reaper's Nubian Luna was bred the buck was a dwarf Nigerian buck they borrowed and she gave birth the Stella so it can be done. This year the buck is also smaller than her but she might get bred again.
I always enjoy "Story Time with Al" during the milking. I hope you keep it up. Thank you for sharing everything you do! I always look forward to your videos...
Me too. Al gives lots of info about the farm, animals, and life when he milks. Also, I swear Willow knows we are watching...she has an awesome "side-eye" she throws to the camera. Yes, please keep showing the milking and feeding.
If you don't do the milking we won't get to see how the milk comes back, a lot, all at once or a little at a time. See, the milking is still a learning of the changes of the amount of milk each day, and seeing how you are changing things With the weather !!!
Check the voltage required for the heater to turn on plus maybe they have a Blue Tooth one just in case you need to go work shop during the Night and Battery back up . Would Wind work better or both solar to get a like a old Military Generator just in case summer or Winter the Main Grid can have issue . Just a thought 🙂🙃
Be careful when installing the ground wire in the panel - you are holding a bare wire and it's waving around . - touches a buss and you'l learn a new dance
took another look and you're right - it was so light in the video that it looked like the the overhead lights were on . fooled me , but not everyone turns the main off every time , but it's the safe way
I NEVER PULLED A BARE WIRE IN A PANEL IT CAN DO JUST LIKE YOU SAID . Also when they came out with nylon wire feeds i threw away all my metal ones . i had a guy in my town run one thru a conduit to the box anit landed on the hot leg main before the breaker it destroyed him completely
Remember=what i said when you were first putting conduit up? I asked if you reamed the interior of the male sides. This is why you should have done it. We ran conduit thru our entire house for ham radio coax, and have 3-4 cables in each run( depending on what it was). No problems at all
Missouri got it first snow yesterday. Fun mix of wet sleet which turned to snow followed by 9 degrees. It was 68 degrees the day before. Winter is officially here!
I love your videos. I've been very ill since Friday and have been watching some of your older videos. You inspired me to make my own channel. I'm trying to hit 300 subs by Christmas. Have a great day
they have wire lube for pulls through conduit...in PA there needs to be a ratio of gauge to open conduit space..still a tight pull..wax base at lowes too..I used it when wiring mobile homes from pole to service box..great stuff
I remember all too well of pulling wire drenched in that disgusting lube for days on end when I worked on the then new Winnipeg city police headquarters.
I suggest you use a thermostat that is Wi-Fi compatible so you can check and/or adjust the temperature of your workshop area while you’re back at the house at night.
@@kiwimacscottish6759 I get milking Hope, but, why are they raising the other goats for? Is it like raising the hogs? For food, or as pets or what? Not criticizing, just asking for an understanding. I'm a daily watcher now, it was just one of those things I was wondering about. Thanks for the question.
They said a few weeks ago they are breading them but don’t want to till they are the right age. So they are more mature and have less fatalities. They plan to expand the goat milking and make other products.
denny be it’s Willow they milk for now. When Al got Willow she had already giving birth to I don’t remember, but it was either Blossom or Buttercup. These tree have be there for over a year. Then Al got Hope from a RUclipsr in AZ last winter. She is the sweetest goat. 🙂 Al then took Willow to a breeder around this time last year and this Spring Willow had 3 babies, Maggie, Little Pea and Little Man which is now a wether. This Fall Al bought 2 bucks to breed Willow, Buttercup and Blossom as Hope is still too young. Al has mentioned in other videos that he wants to grow his heard of milking goats, not for meat. Once the 3 girls have been breed he will be selling off some or all of the baby goats to off set their revenue. Sorry about the long response, but I hope I answered your question. Enjoy your day! 🇨🇦 ✌🏻
Nice to see you were able to share your research on which heating system works for you. Surely this will helps others or at least let them compare. You sure work well together. That is so awesome.
I usually skip the milking. Good job on the heater. Usually heaters like that require a line voltage stat, which means it makes and breaks the 110 VAC circuit. When I saw you using the Honeywell I wondered if there was a transformer and a control relay. Built into the heater. Programmable are usually low voltage 24vac like what would be used on your furnace in the house. They need to be powered all the time even though they have a battery. Check Amazon programmable line voltage wall mount thermostat see what comes up. The Honeywell TH106 looks like what you may need. I found it on Amazon $56. Compare its specs. To your heaters. Good luck.
I am also putting a similar heater in my shop which is only 20 x 30 with a full trussed ceiling which is not insulated yet. This leads to my question which is did you do a video on the blow in insulation I see in your ceiling. I think this would be less expensive than regular insulation by quite a bit. If you did a video I must of overlooked it. Thank you from Michigan Steve
Instead of the 1/2" PVC bend, you needed an "L" box and a 1/2" adapter for the case. L's give you room to pull and gather conductor outside of the bottleneck.
I noticed other farmers/homesteaders in winter put a bulb in the chicken house on a timer so that it is on 12 hours a day and it improves the egg laying.
Chuck Tintera sometimes we will tape the white with black , red, blue etc. coming off a double breaker it’s obvious tho. On the equipment end it’s def helpful to let others know that it’s 208/230v equipment if it’s not noted on the labeling. I wouldn’t use paint on this insulation for fear of breaking it down, maybe. I once had another “electrician” remove my white wire from a double breaker going to a mini split inverter HVAC and placed it on the neutral bar and used half the breaker for the new shed. The HVAC still ran but real slow and froze up and would not turn off. A few calls to tech support and top technician says check the supply voltage. 🤔. If all the lights light up you assume your getting the voltage you wired it up to. The smartest guy at Samsung didn’t think about it until after the 4th call. I apologized for the trouble and the customer started counting out hundred dollar bills apologizing for their “electrician”. Moral to the story, tape over the white wires in hopes that “electricians” will do the right thing 😝.
Your heater looks like it heats up the workshop well! I like it! I didn't think as small as it looks, that it would but it does a nice job. You will appreciate that heat! The bacon is looking good Al. Maggie was so cute running over. Then Buttercup head butted her. Ouch! I often mix sausage with my ground beef for my spaghetti, never had it just all sausage though. I do love sausage so would probably love it. It sure looked yummy! Keep the snow there ! It is snowing all around us, states above us, in the deep south, etc...we have had a few tiny flurries that you can miss if not really looking for them. I'm not ready for snow! lol I'm just not ready for winter, looks like it is going to be a cold one.
Black writing on the shirt stands out more. I like it. Nice location for the heater as it can spill heat into the milking room. Miss the milking, but Willow has pretty well stopped producing. Where does Figaro sleep? Am impressed with the cooking pot. Just got one and have yet to try it. Thanks for the trip to Lowe's
The thermostat I got had a small tab that had to be removed, however it was excluded from the instructions and the word remove was barely visible. It was inside behind the cover, over the spring. Good luck
@@cooldog60 I have two of them in my shop and don't turn them on until i absolutely have too. Way to expensive for me. I usually fire up the wood and coal stove.
Did you give any consideration to mining your fan in the middle of your barn placing it by the door may be pulling cold air in from the garage door which would make your heater run more just a thought
My father in law had a old wood stove in his workshop, lol. i don’t think i have ever seen a camo vest on an employee at Lowes here. was that a veterans day thing? i guess that shared wall between your workshop and the goat area will help keep the frost off that side of the wall for the goat area too. 👍
I just tried the link for the heater, the link is broken. Do you have a model # I have an electric heater, but it does not have the thermostat option. Thx for sharing...
I love lumnah acres but I'm unsubscribing just because of your commercializing , I understand why , I personally just enjoy the vids less, I wish you well in the future.
Yeah agree, furthest thing from real homesteading. Plus they are just throwing money around more and more. Being a true homesteader means being frugal...not buying automatic chicken door openers for 200 plus dollars and getting a brand new tool for every little job you do.
you should just need to hook it up between R and W terminals which are the same on either terminals. Are you positive it doesnt need a line voltage thermostat? the one you hooked up is normal for a house using 24v.
also if you install a jumper wire on your terminals on the heater its basically calling for heat at all times but it tells you the problem is in the stat and not the heater (if 24V thermostat is required). with the line voltage stat power will go thru the stat and then to the heater. You just need to confirm what you need in the directions. Happy to help further if you PM me on FB.
Lumnah Acres you said the heater had a thermostat on it ,did you turn it on and also connect the external thermostat and now have both trying to operate the heater? I saw you press a switch, while talking about the internal thermostat!
I'd been thinking about putting heat in the garage for awhile and got this exact same unit. Northern Tools (your link) has it $70 off and they just opened a retail store near me. Finished my install a little while ago. Nice unit!
I wonder if you should bump the thermostat off the exterior wall. Thinking it might read colder than what it really is as they go on interior walls. Just a thought.
You need a 120v thermostat. Looked up the heater schematic and that Honeywell looks to be for 24v. Don't know if they make a programmable thermostat in 120v.
Do your chickens haveDiatomaceous earth to bath in? Mites are a reason for lack of Appetite and egg production as well as less light you may want to add a light bulb to your timer just like the door. I think the dark goats would make beautiful babies. Love your Chanel so I joy watching everything you do
If I'm not mistaken I believe code where I live inside the breaker panel that you're supposed to skip the wire coding all the way back to the edge of the panel so that just the wire black and white are in the panel
On the thermostat use the second from the right screw for the red and the fourth from the right for the white- this is the electrical conn in side the thermostat I have the same thermostat

O
I started making homemade bisquits for my dog, pumpkin and peanut butter shaped like bones, and now hes addicted.
You could buy a kerosene heater. it would not heat a whole house but it may keep you from freezing.
Al a programmable thermostat is for homes or offices where the room is occupied at regular frequency. You could setup the below setback programming Monday - Friday 5am 60°
Monday - Friday 6pm 50°
Monday - Friday 11pm 50°
Saturday Sunday 5am 60°
Saturday Sunday 6pm 50°
Saturday Sunday 11pm 50°
Fyi if your in there you can bump up temp and it will setback at 11pm to 50°.
Received the Lumnah Black Knit hat today. Love it!! It's really warm but so soft and not at all scratchy. Thanks Guys!
How about having a fire extinguisher in your workshop? Just a thought. Dinner looked great!
I was wondering about that as well. I have four in my machine shop!
several n fact, goat area, workshop 2 how about the woodshed?
Great recovery!
Lynn Lopez it’s amazing that people still read and respond. Thank you for being part of my recovery with encouragement 👍
Bill’s Solar Power and Gardening
It was my impression that the batteries were to keep the program schedule if the power goes out.
It helps to keep their body temperature up.🐓🐓🐓🐔
I do the same every evening, they really love the cat food.
Al, A lot of the homesteaders are heating the sleeping and laying area of the Chicken's and that keeps the Chickens laying. Check it out???
If you end up having to get a different thermostat, you might consider a low temp thermostat. They will allow you to keep the shop just above freezing. Heating is a big expense for us in WI so having the option to lower the heat a bit more than a standard thermostat saves quite a bit.
You could have saved $ and had a much easier time pulling the #8 through the PVC by purchasing single conductors rather than fight the jacket on the able assembly. The jacket is only for physical protection anyway.
Kingfish
Some lube always helps 😊
Also, enlarging the 1/2” knockout on the heater to 3/4” (with a unibit) would have allowed the entire run to be 3/4” instead of reducing it.
A quick search at homedepot.com shows the 8/3 with ground is actually cheaper than buying single wires by about 18 cents a foot.
Maybe one of the electricians that watch can double check what i am saying
unless its going to a sub panel than all grounds and commons need there own bus but otherwise your correct

Right now, (9:11 AM), in Waterford PA, just south of Erie PA, it is 28 degrees F and about 2" of snow on the ground.
All very good reasons why you chose to heat with electric. :) It's very cold here, too. Not looking forward what looks to be a very long and harsh winter.
I bought the same thermostat when installing my outdoor wood boiler! I’m only commenting because it didn’t work for me either 😂😂😂

A family that prays together stays together, good job Al and Gina
Great job on the heater . Gina looked like she was enjoying it . Check into step Bit or variable drill bit same thing different names . Then the next time you have a opening to small in a matter of a few seconds you now have the size you need .
Was I the only one wating for Al to say "I like it" when the heater was wired up? Haha. Thanks for another great look into your lovely family.
About that snow. Here in southern Ontario (Toronto). We got our first snow storm of the year. Loved it.
Yes. Was suprised that he didn't.
Me too. If all subscribers got a dollar every time he said it during construction of the barn, we’d all have a nice nest egg for Christmas shopping. 😎👍👏
Bernard Shearing I like to hear Al say “I like it!”

I’ll have to get out a sharpie.

Blossom and Caleb...nah Zeke
NE Wi. is nasty this morning minus10 here.6 mph wind outa the NW..
Blossom definitely needs to “date” Zeke! Their kids would have beautiful coloring. 😊

That’s good advice!
If you noticed he did turn the main power off before he got in there like that.
took another look and you're right - it was so light in the video that it looked like the the overhead lights were on . fooled me , but not everyone turns the main off every time , but it's the safe way
I NEVER PULLED A BARE WIRE IN A PANEL IT CAN DO JUST LIKE YOU SAID . Also when they came out with nylon wire feeds i threw away all my metal ones . i had a guy in my town run one thru a conduit to the box anit landed on the hot leg main before the breaker it destroyed him completely
That stretch of exposed wire is waaaaay too long for my taste. I thought there is grounding wire that’s not exposed like that
Remember=what i said when you were first putting conduit up? I asked if you reamed the interior of the male sides. This is why you should have done it. We ran conduit thru our entire house for ham radio coax, and have 3-4 cables in each run( depending on what it was). No problems at all

Hey Al, you call those corner things “feeders”, lil P calls it a goat crib.
I suggest you use a thermostat that is Wi-Fi compatible so you can check and/or adjust the temperature of your workshop area while you’re back at the house at night.
So, I'm kinda new, only about 6 months and it leaves me with a question....what's up with the goats?
What do you mean by " what's up with the goats"? What in particular are you wondering about the goats? 🇨🇦

@@dennybe i THINK they are for breeding, selling and milking but it seems only 1 is being useful rn.
Good luck.

The workshop is coming along nicely! Here in Colorado, it has snowed at least four times already. it's going to be a loooonng winter.
Buy a ceiling fan you won’t regret it
I am also putting a similar heater in my shop which is only 20 x 30 with a full trussed ceiling which is not insulated yet. This leads to my question which is did you do a video on the blow in insulation I see in your ceiling. I think this would be less expensive than regular insulation by quite a bit. If you did a video I must of overlooked it. Thank you from Michigan Steve
just a little washing up liquid inside the conduit bend will help.
That's why I always keep a bar of soap in my toolbox. 😊
Snowstorm was a dud in central VT. There was rain and so the snow was crusty. Got about 4”. I can live with that.
Shouldn't you be painting that white wire black at both ends?
Robert Gray they didn’t buy the chicken door, it was given to them. Real homesteading is not defined by money.
424stormygirl I also find the $ spent by them to be contrary to homesteading, seems they could speak grammatically correct also.
you should just need to hook it up between R and W terminals which are the same on either terminals.
Is there any issue with the heater being up so high? Are you not losing hot air that way and taking a long time to heat the shop?
I'd been thinking about putting heat in the garage for awhile and got this exact same unit. Northern Tools (your link) has it $70 off and they just opened a retail store near me. Finished my install a little while ago. Nice unit!
I wonder if you should bump the thermostat off the exterior wall. Thinking it might read colder than what it really is as they go on interior walls. Just a thought.
can you post a link for the pot you are cooking out of?
What kind of instant pot do you have/pressure cooker?
