  • Опубликовано: 15 авг 2024
  • In this video I show you the basic techniques for making watercolour washes. We look at flat washes, graded washes and variegated washes and the difference between painting these wet-on-dry and painting them wet-on-wet. I also demonstrate another type of wash that I use all the time in my landscape paintings
    If you are new to watercolour painting, you will find that these techniques will provide you with essential building blocks to help you progress with your landscape painting.
    Happy painting and thanks for watching!

    Just a note to anyone who is buying Watercolour paints. White Nights (Russian) or Kuretake Gansai Tambi (Japanese Watercolour). While really good quality, these are opaque watercolour's unlike Winsor & Newton and Daler Rowney (Western watercolours). Please be aware of the difference. Western are traditional, transparent watercolour paints. Eastern - More opaque (non transparent), almost like diluted acrylic paints. It makes a big difference in terms of what your learning to achieve from the likes of Oliver.

      @meggraham7564 16 дней назад

      So true about Kuretake. It is my 1st w/c set. Was getting frustrated as I could not achieve many techniques. Discovered that it is not designed to be mixed that is why there are so many colours. And as it is resin based it doesn't run and merge as well as Western style w/c.

    Oliver, Your tutorlials have blown me away! I'm 86 and just getting around to watercolor art. After enjoying some of your tutorials, I'm convinced I can do it. I live in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and love the trees here - all four seasons! Now I am inspired to TRY to represent them in WC. I lived in the deset Southwest for 50 years, and saw nothing but beauty in the desert and mountains...but the Valley is magnificent. So much to see and record! And, I'm left-handed, too! And Red/Green blind. I am, however, determined! Thank you gain. You, Sir, are a treasure!!

    Once again I am left speechless! You are definitely the best teacher online!! I can imagine so many uses for your “two simple washes”! Sometime it would be great to learn how you plan your painting. Sometimes I look at a photo that I would like to paint and it seems overwhelming so I end up painting it in parts which I don’t think always results in a painting that is as cohesive as it could be. Thank you for everything!!

      I too am tired of being confused, pick one teacher and stick with him (her) Like both of you I choose Tyler! I love how he explains things, he makes hard things look easy… that’s a sign of a good teacher, also I don’t feel anxious or nervous but rather calm with an attitude that hey! I can do this! He helps me to believe in myself…😊

    You have such a gift of breaking things down into simple parts / steps. Love your gentleness, encouragement, willingness to share and much much more. So many w c vids entertain more than teach. Your’s are fabulous, they teach! You are a great teacher, and I thank you for that. Thank you.
