Great video sir! I have the Delta Gold but the Delta Platinum has been calling my name and looking to upgrade to the olatinum next month on my 1 year anniversary. After upgrading to the Delta Platinum and pairing it with my AMEX Gold and Amex Platinum, I'll be ready to rock! Keep up the great work man!
@@TheRDGuaranteeI love my Delta set up and you turned me on to something even better in a prior video. I just got back from Vegas and my round-trip was 650 for 3 ppl plus 2 charges for $35 using my Reserve and Platinum in tandem. I got instant Silver Elite Medallion status just for holding the cards. The Platinum triggered an incidental credit for the extra baggage both ways. I used free Uber credits and 2 Uber Eats with my Uber One getting me free delivery. I took an upgrade offer to the Reserve in March. I did use my companion certificate for my wife and daughter's 30th bday trip. My wife is a Reserve card holder and we used it for the lounge and our daughter was the guest. The single free trip for me covered essentially covered my AF for the Reserve. I used my Resy credits and banked them on my Toast gift card so I believe that is $30 'plus my 2 Uber rides for each card plus the $70 baggage statement credit has me at 120 towards my Platinum and I still will use hotel credit for both cards which should put me at 300 plus and I still have Uber credits and Resy credits for the rest of the year which another 100 to 150. Great value! Plus I used my Amex Platinum's Wal-Mart + benefit twice for groceries paying with my Blue Cash Preferred at the condo and the Amex Gold for dinning and my Navy Fed Flagship and PenFed Pathfinder were my catch all travel cards. Thank yo😮u
Delta Platinum all day, the 3X multiplier on hotels and 2X on groceries and restaurants is clutch compared to the Reserve, yes reserve has 25 lounge visits, but more miles means more trips with points.
Shouldn't you always start with the Blue? Take the sub and open a Gold later? Maybe even take an upgrade offer on the Blue the same day you open a Gold and double dip?
For some people, that would work great. Even the small sign of bonus is going to be a big opportunity to earn Skymiles for other people, it’s not going to be worth opening up another credit card as they consider things like opportunity cost, and application velocity
@@TheRDGuarantee Only reason I could see holding the blue is for an early Amex card and the hope of an upgrade offer to the Gold - not sure if they would do that for the blue though. At least the sub spend is really low.
Great video! The Gold and Platinum are great options for most people. I know the point of the Reserve is the perks, but I really wish it maintained the 3X on hotels or got a bump to 4X on Delta purchases.
I had the gold sky miles card and the only flight it let me use points for was a first class seat with a 7 hour layover. Used it then canceled the card.
I'm interested in the business versions of the Delta platinum or reserve cards. However, I also have the Amex Platinum card, and I don't want to give it up. I'm not sure if I can justify having two high annual fee cards.
There's a bit more than this in the terms and conditions, but essentially as long as you pay your cell phone bill with your credit card, cell phone protections will cover your phone if it get physical damaged (either replace or repair costs).
Do you have to use the delta cards in paying for your flight to recieve the flight benefits. Or can you pay with a different card .. meaning does just holding the card get you anything?
Great question. I'm pretty sure the way it works on the backend is that your benefits are linked to your SkyMiles account and that even if you didn't pay for it with the Delta Card you'd still be able to get the free checked bag, etc.
Yes just holding the two cards can get you 2500 MQDS a piece and give you Silver status. I did that by pairing the Platinum and Reserve cards to obtain Silver Elite status. I love them both in tanswn
Good review I have the Delta platinum card and didn’t even realize that some of the benefits have gotten even better

Thanks! The Delta Gold is a very solid card, but you're going to love the Platinum especially for that companion ticket! That's a sweet AMEX setup!

Probably too expensive to give people both the Skymiles earn rate from the Platinum and MQD earn rate from the Reserve, so you have to choose

There’s some crossover but it’s not perfect. Biggest benefit is the free ticket imo.
Would you use that?
Delta Gold I think is the sweet spot for me in the near future.
What exactly the cell phone protection does?
