I'm a Yankee fan but how can anyone dislike this video?! It was an amazing thing what these players did for this child! Rivalry aside - this was amazing.
I went to school with Stephan for as long as I can remember. The first time I met him was when we were both in 2nd grade, and the thing everyone knew best about him was that despite his condition, he had a better attitude towards life than anyone else. I played little league baseball with him since the 2nd grade as well. As we got older, he became the assistant coach for our high school freshman baseball team, and had nothing but positive things to say to me and the other kids. His step-father is a firefighter in my town, and his mother is one of the sweetest individuals I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He was doing well all throughout high school, but I haven't seen him in over 9 months because of college. He is, in fact, alive, and I haven't heard anything saying he's doing unwell. I hope this is a good enough update for those who are curious! (Side note: In the little league game that was filmed showing Stephan getting a hit, I was on the opposing team, and made an error on a ball that Stephan hit well!)
I can relate to this story. I was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 1 at birth, and it’s no picnic. :( And this passed August I too had a tumour removed. This kids positive attitude is infectious!
Huge props for the guy really stepping up as a step-dad. A lot of guys wouldn't love a child as his own and especially with all that the little boy struggles with. Also nice job marrying a cute Latina women haha
I'm a die hard Yankees fan, but I'm also a baseball fan. I have always respected David Ortiz. He is someone who comes to the plate and you expect a home run. This was truly great of him and the Red Sox to do this for this young boy. It must have met the world to him to not only meet the players but also sign the wall in the green monster. I hope to go there and watch a game this year when they play my team.
The 160 dislikes make me so disgusted why are people so mean?? And this kid, had to learn another language and was strong during his surgery. I’m a dodgers fan but this got me teared up. Also respect to David Ortiz to take the time to visit a strong kid and one of his number one fans.
The 97 people who disliked this...... Why it's a kid....... Thank you make a wish for being there for these kids and thank you for the youtubers celebritys and athletes who do this for the kids you guys are awesome!!!!!!
watching all these make a wish stories inspires me so much. these kids/young adults go through so much and are true heros to our studies. they show me how to be strong and always remind me never take life for granted.
Baseball is so so beautiful, mostly because of how forgiving it is. You don’t need to be the best athlete, hell you don’t even need two arms. It’s a sport for everyone, all sizes, color, shape, etc. I will cherish it, and make sure my children experience it.
I’ll never understand why some people start their comment by saying what team they are a fan of. Instead of trying to get likes for your comment just appreciate the good that some of these stars are doing for the kids.
Sad news to report. This kid passed away Monday. I know his entire family. His grandfather drove my brother to the hospital when my dad died. Rip buddy. Go Sox.
I have it too I've had it since birth. I'm almost 29. I was fine up until a couple years ago. Then it just seems like it got really bad recently. So now it's a waiting game for me for all these test results.
I met Big Papi at a restaurant in Kansas City when he was serving as a guest analyst for FOX Sports. Same guy that you see on TV is the same you get in person with this Red Sox legend. Ortiz was very humble and was very nice to allow me to take a picture with him and get his autograph.
Great dad, i live in Middleton MA and i respect this man so much for the job he does the and his care for his son, im not a baseball fan but david ortiz has my upmost respect for what he did for this poor child.
If there is anyone who knows what this kid is going through, it's me. I have type 1of this same disease. I've had it since birth and am 29 now. I've had multiple surgeries taking tumor's off my spine. I now have a huge on covering my whole femur. Which may have turned cancerous and spread to my vital organs. Still going through multiple tests to figure everything out. I know the pain this kid is going through.
Id like to know how Stephan is doing now .... if he and his family celebrated the 2013 World Series win just like I did .... Kudos to the Sox and Papi for making SUCH a special day for Stephan :) :)
big yankees fan and big red sox hater, but seein this video made me respect them off the field. Great thing for you guys to do and make this kids dream come true
i also have cancer but a different type its lukima foe my make a wish its meet the denver broncos i met david ortiz 5 times i also live in Massachusetts
I am a die hard Yankees fan, but seeing a kid who had gone to hell and back, get the chance of a lifetime like that from an amazing ballplayer is very nice of Ortiz
+Ayden Achey is it really like that though? Maybe bad things can make people good. Maybe this kid wouldn't be the kid he is if he didn't have to fight like that. Maybe that's why God lets people suffer sometimes, because it lets people show their greatness.
It's awesome he met his favorite player for the red sox, and even I wish the same thing but little different. My favorite players is J. D. Martinez and Andrew benintendi.
I'm Mexican-American Living in Boston and where I Come from we are not that familiar W/Baseball infact its not even very Popular but Things Like this is The reason why I happened to Really Appreciate Baseball And Most Of all MY RED SOX would never change them for anything!! !!!
from a sox fan, I like hearing stuff like this; i know jeter and riviera are the same way down in NYC. glad that petty sports differences can be put aside for the bigger picture. cheers, man. \~/
I know how you feel Stephan. I have NF 1. I don’t spend my life in the hospital tho. I mostly spend it puking and with major migraines. I was diagnosed 5 years ago and I spent about 2 years of it in the hospital. Stay strong.
I love the Yankees more then anything but Ortiz is aces in my book. To make a little boy feel he is the king of the world cannot be measured in any form of words.
the best thing athletes can do that is better than winning games or signing autographs which dont really mean anything is to be a part of this wish group......nothing impacts a person more than meeting someone that defines inspiration to them
I'm a Yankee fan but how can anyone dislike this video?! It was an amazing thing what these players did for this child! Rivalry aside - this was amazing.
That's great :)
I like the video and I'm a yankees fan as well
Certainly

That's a lie because he's not even a teenager
He'd be 19.. So it could be true.
Chandler Mccrady
This segment was aired in 2007 when Stephen was 12 years old. 7+12=19.
It would have been easy for you to do the math yourself.
Glad to know I am a Yankees fan but I love when ball players do this.
Justin Nigrelli
Thank you for sharing that.
Big respect for papi coming from a yankee fan
I was about to comment that
I'm not, but I still agree with you. Big Papi was a class act. I really hope he stays involved with baseball somehow in retirement.
Respect to Derek Jeter from a Sox fan
Same I am a huge Yankee fan but I have so much respect for Big Papi.
Also he got shot in the Dominican Republic so I felt so bad.
Yankees fan as well class act for big Papi and I felt awful he got shot in the Dominican Republic
I can relate to this story.
I was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 1 at birth, and it’s no picnic. :( And this passed August I too had a tumour removed.
This kids positive attitude is infectious!
Ortiz is boston sports absolute legend thank you for everything papi
he said your welcome
Huge props for the guy really stepping up as a step-dad. A lot of guys wouldn't love a child as his own and especially with all that the little boy struggles with. Also nice job marrying a cute Latina women haha

David Ortiz is a legend. He'll be missed, but never forgotten
Robbie Kite he’s not dead
AG_Paradox 29 he was referring to David’s retirement though
@@ag_paradox2919 lmfao I know right I thought the same thing hahaha
Can't get enough of these videos. Must really be something special to be able to do this for a kid as a pro athlete.
The Cathedral of Boston.. Fenway Park..
This kid now immortal
The 160 dislikes make me so disgusted why are people so mean?? And this kid, had to learn another language and was strong during his surgery. I’m a dodgers fan but this got me teared up. Also respect to David Ortiz to take the time to visit a strong kid and one of his number one fans.

wish him well. Hes still a kid but has been through more than most people have, kid is tough and will be great someday
Not a Red Sox fan, but David Ortiz is a class act.
Yes he is.
Thank you to Make-a-wish. and Best wishes and prayers to all the families God Bless!
Baseball is so so beautiful, mostly because of how forgiving it is. You don’t need to be the best athlete, hell you don’t even need two arms. It’s a sport for everyone, all sizes, color, shape, etc. I will cherish it, and make sure my children experience it.
I love the way the interviewer tries their best to make people cry.
People dont realize just how blessed they truly are
I am a Yankee fan but after watching this video I became a Red Sox fan for a moment!
Just one wish to meet your favorite athlete before you pass away would be awesome. Thanks, David Ortiz, for making this kid's wish come true.
He didn't die
i loved how he walked out of the limo
I always come watch these videos to show me that humanity still is good amist all the bad from today. These are truly touching. :)
Rip buddy. Go Sox.
ive got this same thing!! but ive beat it as of now! ive still got tumors inside my brain still, Stay strong stephan!
You stay strong too Nash! Was so nice of you to post that comment about yourself and to wish Stephan well. God speed sir!!

I have it too
I've had it since birth. I'm almost 29. I was fine up until a couple years ago. Then it just seems like it got really bad recently. So now it's a waiting game for me for all these test results.
NashGraphs God bless you
NashGraphs stay strong bro
I would love to see Stephan's reaction for David Ortiz winning MVP. And also the grand slam Vs the Tigers
Im a die hard yankee fan and i must admit it we treat living legends of like game like crap. Big papi is truly a class act
So was Jeter, I respect Yankees fans like you
I met Big Papi at a restaurant in Kansas City when he was serving as a guest analyst for FOX Sports. Same guy that you see on TV is the same you get in person with this Red Sox legend. Ortiz was very humble and was very nice to allow me to take a picture with him and get his autograph.
i love this because those kids can't help the way they are but at least their living life to their dreams unlike most of us
Great dad, i live in Middleton MA and i respect this man so much for the job he does the and his care for his son, im not a baseball fan but david ortiz has my upmost respect for what he did for this poor child.
idc what you say big pappi is one of the best guys in sports he may get super competitive but you always see him doing stuff like this for kids
Derek Jeter and Reggie Jackson did more for kids.
+Ivan Dominguez so what? All that big papi did shouldn't matter since he didn't do more than other players?
+KrAziiPwNaGe k...lol
I am a St. Louis Cardinals fan, and this is one of the best things I have seen.
I love Big Papi. He has always been my favorite player. Its so great to see this kid have great time. He deserves it and more.
God bless you, Stephan, and David Ortiz for making your dream come true. I'm praying for you and your family
What a great day for a kid to have... Good on Ortiz for this... Brilliant
This never gets old!
I'm Happy for Stephan. Quite a Thrill to meet His Hero. Big Papi has always been One of My Favourite Athletes~~~

As a huge Yankees fan, I cannot stand the Sox, but this was a huge class act of Papi
As a Yankees Fan I would just like to say that what the Red Sox Organization and Big Papi did was amazing and that this child was amazing
David Ortiz’s Heart is as Big as Him. I wish everything turned out well for that boy. Big Pappi is a great juman being. Much love and respect🙏💪
i also have cancer but a different type its lukima foe my make a wish its meet the denver broncos i met david ortiz 5 times i also live in Massachusetts
I am a die hard Yankees fan, but seeing a kid who had gone to hell and back, get the chance of a lifetime like that from an amazing ballplayer is very nice of Ortiz
bad things always happen to good kids :(
+Ayden Achey is it really like that though? Maybe bad things can make people good. Maybe this kid wouldn't be the kid he is if he didn't have to fight like that. Maybe that's why God lets people suffer sometimes, because it lets people show their greatness.
hagamapama True bro
Yo I was about to question that.. Read my mind
While I can't stand the Red Sox, I've got to give it up to them. They really made the child feel welcome.
Touches my heart even more cause i know the family personally
It’s crazy how calm he was I wood literally cry and be shy
I am a huge fan of big papi. I love this video. I want to read Stephan' s book about Fenway to my daughter
Ortiz is one of the most liked guys in baseball. Just a great overall guy. I'm not even a Red Sox fan so no bias here
I showed my team this video and our best hitter said I am going to hit for him and his next at bat was a homerun
gmdavey1971 Now this what I call meaningful comment.
All of these athletes do such a great job! So happy for all of the kids! :)
As much as I hate the Red Sox, I have much love and respect for Big Popi
what a great child, i take inspiration when i hear this child
i am glad he got to meet David Ortiz. Bless him with a long life and good health.

i love how all the people besides david ortiz in the vid have left the red sox
I love baseball, but i'm a mets fan. But this is awesome!!!!!!!!!
I met Matt Martin when he was on the Bridgeport sound tigers
David Poudrier I met Steven Stamkos
I remember watching a geam from the fifth row with my dad, Ortiz hit a homerun and won 11-9 i believe. It was up close and amazing.

This warms my heart☺️
God bless everyone and have a good day,,
I know how you feel Stephan. I have NF 1. I don’t spend my life in the hospital tho. I mostly spend it puking and with major migraines. I was diagnosed 5 years ago and I spent about 2 years of it in the hospital. Stay strong.
What a COOL Story to see!
May God bless this young man, his family, and everyone who made it happen. now if you'll excuse me, I think I have something in my eye.
This kid has swagger. I love it. Papi's a great guy, too.
I love David ortiz he is lights out for the yankees
This was awesome! I hope all the tumors leave and Stephan beats the disease 🙌🏾🙏🏾. Awesome job to the Red Sox too!
How could someone dislike this!
Nostalgia omg I remember watching this years ago!
I'm not crying, my eyes are just sweating.
I would say this kid is acting all tough but he has every right too because damn.....and I mean damn....he’s a TROOPER!
Ya'll. got class.. Nothing but class all the way !!
If I ever become a professional athlete, I wanna contribute to the "Make a Wish" foundation.
Great work keep it up
This was like my Wish when I got to meet the 1993 Toronto Blue Jays and Meet my Favourite Play
I felt the same for Jeter, as a Sox fan. He was a Class Act!
I hate that children go through this.
Wow, he almost caught a home run ball too. That would have capped it all off.
They knew where he was sitting and it's like they were trying to hit to him. Pretty awesome.
Stay strong Stephan
I love these so touching it like if he can do I can do it gives my confidence
you don't have to be a fan of sports or baseball to love these stories.
I love the Yankees more then anything but Ortiz is aces in my book. To make a little boy feel he is the king of the world cannot be measured in any form of words.
the best thing athletes can do that is better than winning games or signing autographs which dont really mean anything is to be a part of this wish group......nothing impacts a person more than meeting someone that defines inspiration to them
The fact they monetize these videos is just sad
god bless him and go Sox!!!
Which ones
I am a Yankee fan and I think that David Ortiz is a really good guy.
