13:09 Chief Osceola is honoring the Seminole tribe of Native Americans from south Florida. As does the warchant(the song that you heard). Florida State has been working with the Seminole tribe for decades to assure that they're honorably representing the Seminoles in a respectful way...as opposed to simply culturally appropriating them as a bunch of other teams have done.
Very annoying when folks have no clue bashing a fun tradition. Like so many woke folks bashing things and pretending to be offended when folks Involved are participating.
The question at the 11:10 mark ,"do the opposing fans travel" can be answered. In the SEC the teams are required by the league to offer at least 10,000 seats to visiting teams. They do not have to take them all but most do. About the Vol Navy. Technically the coast guard can give a DWI in Tn but very rare occurrence (esp at a home Vol game.)
And it depends on the schools as well, as some have fanbases that are either large enough that regardless of where they're playing they have fans nearby, or are willing to travel to support their school. That's one thing being a Nebraska fan we can still be proud of is our fans' turnout even on the road. But no one's really missing out on much leaving Nebraska for a few days, hence the willingness to get the hell out of here.
Except for neutral site games the vast majority of a crowd will be home team fans. Where the visiting fans sit varies depending on how they came about their ticket. Most colleges will have a section dedicated to the visiting teams’ season ticket holders but if a visiting fan just buys their ticket individually like anyone else they’ll just be blended into the rest of the crowd.

The person with the sword is actually the Drum Major for the University of Southern California Trojans. They begin their pregame music with the stabbing of the field (even when on the road). It is not always a man either. I played football at Abilene Christian University in the 90's. The freshmen have to ring a huge bell for 24 hours straight before homecoming kickoff. Its up to the upper classmen and professors to stop the ringing... Got pretty rough at times
The college stadium with by far the best water access is Husky Stadium at the University of Washington. The stadium sits right on lake Washington, you can park your boat and walk directly into the stadium. Not like the craptastic garbage at Tennessee where you have to park your boat in the river next to an industrial plant, get off, walk down and across the street and then use the standard stadium entrance. Husky Stadium created sailgating, and nobody does it better. And when you combine the sailgating with the impressive views of Lake Washington and both the Cascades and Olympic Mountains from inside, you understand why Husky Stadium is referd to as "The Greatest Setting in College Sports".
There generally is a visitors section where those tickets were provided to the visiting school to sell. The large sections of color are, almost without fail, the student section. The students get a good deal on season tickets and they're all put together to make an enormously rowdy section of the stadium.
The part where a guy is spinning a silver sword.... that is the Univ. So.Cal. Trojans (USC) at the Los Angeles Coliseum. For many years their crosstown rivals, Univ of Cal at Los Angeles (UCLA) played at the same stadium (100,000+). And every year they play against eachother...red on one side, blue on the other. (PS: the buffalo is the mascot of the Colorado University Buffaloes..... the Univ of Washington is near Seattle and they too have docks for boats)
So all of the mascots are based on their teams nickname. The Buffalo taking the field was for the Colorado Buffalo's for example so they, like many other schools, have a live mascot. The LSU Tigers have a real live tiger, the Georgia Bulldogs have a bulldog on the sideline, and so on. Also as far as traveling fans, yes each college team tends to have a pretty decent chunk that travels. Typically maybe 10K and they put a large chunk of them in one section usually the upper deck corners. Other scattered fans typically buy through resell like stubhub. College's are different in that they play in individual geographical conferences so travel is much easier. The biggest conference in college is the Southeastern Conference or SEC for short, Alabama the football powerhouse plays in that conference.
At 2:59...that is my college Auburn University. Went to school there, got my degree, worked there and retired from there. I attend all of the home games and like most colleges, we have our traditions as well. Our team is the Auburn Tigers, but War Eagle is our battle cry as it relates to a very old legend involving a Eagle who circled our football field one day during an important game with a rival and it inspired our team to win. So, we let the training Eagle fly as part of our storied tradition. My photo was taken inside the stadium during a game. At 6:30, another tradition, rolling the Toomer's Corner trees located downtown Auburn with toilet paper after a winning football game. WAR EAGLE!
Gotta think about it like this: The United States isn't a lot smaller than Europe, and fans will definitely travel cross country in large volumes to see their favorite teams! The passion of College Football is beautiful, you don't get that so much with the NFL.
Most college football games have a section (usually behind the visitors sideline) where they reserve a block of seats for the visiting team. Other fans and supporters of a visiting team will buy whatever seats are available. There are obviously more students who go to away games when they are closer to their campus. The school I am sure has bus transportation available for their students to go. Also a lot of college football conferences and teams do not sell alcohol at college games partially to eliminate bad behavior and also because with the drinking age in the US at 21 nowadays most college students are not officially allowed to drink. As for FSU mascots Osceola and Renegade, they became the official mascots for the school around 1978 I believe. The 1st person to portray Osceola's family now selects the students who will get to play the part. There is a 2 year apprenticeship of sorts and the student must meet physical requirements and riding ability and maintain a minimum of (I believe) a 3.0 grade point avg. The costume and all related things are with the approval of the Seminole Nations leadership. The person portraying Osceola is required to maintain character and be on best behavior whenever in costume and at all times be respectful of the dignity of the Seminole people. The person now portraying Osceola is the 16th person to have been chosen for that job. Cheers Guys!!
Alabama vs Auburn! They're both teams in Alabama and have a huge rivalry. When I first moved to Alabama everyone asked me, "Roll Tide or War Eagle?" It got old, lol. But that game every year is the most anticipated down here, and Alabama has had the most wins of any college team in the last 13 years I believe, if you need another reason to come see them play. Looking forward to your visit and subsequent videos all about it! Also I grew up in New Jersey, the food up there is amazing, that is all. 🎤😊👍🏻
The Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech is the 1930 Ford Model A Sport coupe that serves as the official mascot of the student body at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The Wreck is present at all major sporting events and student body functions.
at most collage sports events in the states, the only separation of fans is the student section. You can very easily tell were this is because it has the most of the home color with little to none of the away team. This is because 1) students get cheaper tickets at home stadiums and 2) they are the most dedicated fans and look way better when all together rather than spread out
I’m a Seminole booster. Chief Osceola, is an historical figure. Help African Americans during slavery and is white/Native American. Florida state has a contract with the Seminole tribe and everything is approved by them.
That old coach for Nebraska had been coaching there for a long time. That’s why the color commentator wanted to cry because of how for his final game he went vintage
The North Carolina State Wolfpack used to have real wolves as their mascots. One of them reacted badly to the loud band and took a nibble on a tender cheerleader's leg. He was banished. Now they use Malamute wolf hybrids which look the part but are as a tame as a family pet.
You can absolutely drive a boat drunk. The TWRA don’t mess w you unless you’re making a scene. I know this bc I live on the Tennessee River and I’m a proud member of the Vol Navy. We were out on the water yesterday and there was alcohol involved.
First was the Florida State Seminoles, then the Auburn Tigers, then the Michigan Wolverines, then the USC Trojans, then the Tennessee, then the Alabama Crimson Tide, then the Army-Navy Game, then the Colorado Buffaloes, then the Oklahoma Sooners, then the Nebraska Cornhuskers, then the Florida Gators, and then finally the Penn State Nittany Lions
so just to let you know about the fsu thing the first clip, fsu and the seminole tribe in the area respect each other alot. fsu has gotten full permission from the leaders of the seminole tribe to do that pre game so regardless of what people say in terms of them doing it they have permission and support from the people whos opinion on the act matter
Well part 3 has the best tradition in all of college football so you guys should definitely react to part 3 as well! Love seeing your football reactions!
They didn't mention it but they take each others cadets as "prisoners" at the opposing branches campus... Before the game they do a prisoner swap and return those students. GO NAVY, beat Army.
Just a note: If you are caught drinking and boating in the U.S, your boat may be confiscated, as well as the trailer you pull it on , and the vehicle you use to take it to a lake. They may also all be sold at auction to support local police forces.
Michigan Stadium aka "The Big House" is the biggest stadium in the western hemisphere and 2nd biggest in the world. Official capacity of over 106 thousand, but on a big game, say vs Ohio State, they can pack 111-112k in there. They are still the winningest program in college football despite sucking for the past 15 years. They were the first non Ivy league school to take up the sport.
Like 10-15 percent of the stadium is reserved for away seating in games and away fans can get tickets on resale and sit in the home fan sections so u very much could be sitting right next to a fan of ur biggest rival in the stadium
Most fans in the stands are mixed. There are a few groups who will travel together to away games. I am a Mets fan (MLB) and our die hard fan group is the 7 Line Army. They travel to several away games throughout the year and all sit in a section together. Most fans are just mixed though. In my state of Kentucky, the University of Kentucky (UK) and the University of Louisville (U of L) are huge rivals in every sport, mostly because of basketball, but in ice hockey they have their fans separated because of fights. There is a story that even though they have like a barrier to separate fans there have still been fights through the barrier. Fights mostly only happen amongst big rival teams. There might be other instances of separating fans here in the U.S. that is just the only one I know of.
Well the Sooner Schooner "tradition" makes sense since their mascot is based on the people in the Oklahoma Land Run that started early called "Sooners". Weird, yes, but it's a weird thing to have a mascot based on in the first place to be honest. Go Sooners!
Actually the pre-game antics always have something to do with the school itself and it's heritage. The white covered wagon being pulled around the field where you stopped to discuss this topic is for the Oklahoma "Sooners". The Sooners were the name given to the people who land rushed into the state of Oklahoma to claim land for farming. Many of them "rushed" into soon, or before it was legal to do so, hence the name "Sooner". That covered wagon depicts those people rushing in to grab land.
Bill Burr occasionally rants on his podcast about the absurdity of Florida State's tomahawk chop and how some white guy probably came up with it. Pretty funny stuff. 9:15 The man on the right is a great man with a calm demeanor, even during his coaching days while winning 83.6% of his games, including 13 conference championships and 3 national championships over 25 seasons as head coach. The man on the left won 71.3% of his games in charge over 7 seasons (still a solid record) yet got fired for being insufferable a-hole on and off the field.
The Nebraska one was significant because Tom Osborne is a legendary football coach who coached Nebraska for 25 years and he led the Huskers on the field one last time along side Bo Pelini who was the coach at Nebraska at the time. Every husker fan had tears in their eyes and goosebumps during that moment.
That first video is of the Florida State Seminoles and it’s called the tomahawk chop you have to see the video of chief Osceola riding in renegade implanting the flaming spear
This video had some of the things missing in the previous College Football Traditions. However, the clips were too short and it was unclear what they were focusing on. A better edited video (with some better camera angles as well) would have been nice to see. Thanks Office Blokes for at least trying to satisfy viewers by finding the video. It is nice to know you guys definitely read the comments. Keep up the good work. Cheers -
Watch LSU which has one of the best atmospheres anywhere. The best tailgating, over 100,000 people in the stadium and about that many still partying outside. It’s not a pitch, it’s a field.
Nebraska Tunnel Walk is epic to us Huskers. This was Tom Osborne day the man is a god here in Husker Nation. Go Big Red. College football is bigger then the NFL.
I went to University of North Carolina and they have a Mountain Ram with his rams painted light blue because that's the school colors....he stays under guard 24 hours a day!
Michigan stadium has the highest attendance of any stadium in the world. technically North Korea reports to have a larger one but i dont believe its ever been confirmed. the big House, University of Michigan football stadium, regularly have over 114,000 people in it
Florida State University has a lucrative financial arrangement with the Seminole Tribe, so it's not racist. See how that works? That said, the "Indian" planting a flaming spear from a reared-up horse at mid-field is quality. It's really top-tier. Yes, Osceola was his real name; one of Florida's counties is named after him.
Florida State football team is named for the Florida Seminoles native American tribe in Florida. The tribe and university work in partnership. The tribe authorizes the use of their name. The clothes worn by the horse rider are authentic Seminole garb and were designed by the tribe. The rider is called Osceola (named for the great Seminole Chief Osceola) and the horse is called Renegade. The rider is never called Chief Osceola as there can only ever be the one Chief Osceola. As a side note, the Seminole tribe was never defeated by or signed a treaty with the U.S. government. They remain a sovereign nation. The Osceola and Renegade symbol (never called mascot) began over 40 years ago.
That's their mascot!! Sooners have a long history - look up the areas to see why each team uses specific mascots or traditions....very interesting! OSU won that game against Penn State!!
For the most part we can coexist even being drunk...places like Philadelphia and LA it's probably best not to advertise you're an away fan...fights happen but as long as you're not being an asshole no one will physically assault you as an away fan...usually. but we have no stadiums that have a separate section for away fans like they do in europe. Some college teams might but that's only bc they have a limited amount of traveling fans who booked tickets through the university
5:42 The Alabama version of this song is called "Rammer Jammer" by the fans. However, the band's name for the cadence is "Ole Miss" as it was directly copied from their rivals at Ole Miss and made their own in 1971 when they hired the Ole Miss band director. Here is their version: ruclips.net/video/0Ih9FjoxlgY/видео.html
The person who dresses as Chief Osceola is usually a white guy majoring in somethign like accounting. A lot of the Native American mascots are going away. The Seminoles were one of the last and fiercest Indian tribes to hold out against the white man's expansion into their territory. They were warriors.
It’s not so much that anything goes as it is about special school traditions or the history of the area. From the east coast USA, there will be schools with older traditions because the states and schools are older. As you go farther West, there are more references to animal mascots or those pertaining to exploring or settling the rest of the US. A good example is Oklahoma’s covered wagon....a symbol of the pioneers who “moved the line” as the west was won. It’s a good sports reference...especially football. Another example is the flying eagle or “War damn eagle” for a school who has a tiger as a mascot but flies the eagle as a team who will conquer your territory. And so forth.
Regarding the Teepee of the Auburn tree....that tree is very special to them....to deface it like that is a slap in the face to them!!! And it's usually done by the arch rival, Alabama!!
American football games have local police, state police and private security, thats why separating fans isn't needed but oddly enough they separate high school football games fans on opposite sides in my area.
Please react to best trucks and stiff arms for some real physical football dominance! Also love any "biggest tackles ever" type vids for the NFL, there's a few out there!
If you're in the Carolina's, you could go to Knoxville to watch the University of Tennessee and the Vol Navy. It will be a little bit out of your way, but if you can manage to go there during a conference game you will likely not be disappointed. UT has been on hard times, but should still be a better game than University of West Virginia. You could also try to make it to a Clemson game in Clemson, SC.
Im not a Nebraska Husker fan, but I can't believe whoever made this video cut off the rest of that scene where Nebraska Husker's run the tunnel into their majestic stadium. Who did this video?? I wanted to see that stadium and hear that crowd! Nebraska's Memorial stadium has been called by the NCAa "The Cathedral of all Stadiums" and Popular Mechanics rated it #1 in the nation. Rankings were based on the stadiums alone not how large or team ranking. Nebraska fans are so dedicated to their team it has also had the nation's #1 longest consecutive sell out, and EPSN calls them "The Sea of Red." Every game has sold out since 1962!!! Not one empty seat in any game for over 60 years!! They're also the loudest according to ESPN says they shake the windows of nearby buildings! They were also ranked #1 for being the highest tech stadium. So they have the #1 most dedicated fans, and the #1 most impressively built stadium with the #1 technology and this video showed a couple touches on a horseshoe? Wow. I was wanting to see the rest of that shot where they run into the stadium with their iconic theme song and the overhead of that crowd and that immense and gorgeous stadium.
You'd think when they edited this video, they'd keep the music pumping from school to school. But then they cut to a short video on Tennessee and their boat fans. Why didn't they just show the actual party boats during a game and dub over it some music?! It would have kept the flow!
The most annoying traditional is the USC game cocks damn rooster call when 3rd down visitor.. if in traveling to Carolinas, then go see a SEC game at Columbia, SC.
The covered wagon is not random, it's how the Western US was settled. When the government started offering free homesteads in the Oklahoma territory, "sooner" come got the best land. It's a little more involved, but that is the gist of Oklahoma Sooners.
@@hah3456 Yeah, I'm not an Oakie, but if you don't know the history, you don't get the competitive, we got here first, do or die, pride they have in the phrase Sooners. All the wagon pioneers were epically badass, but Sooner in internet terms is the same as FIRST! lol
I was at a large mall this past weekend for the first time in nearly a year. It was insanely packed and people were so excited to be out. Smiles everywhere. People are down with lockdowns. If they imposed a new wine, I think there would be a revolution here.

This is because 1) students get cheaper tickets at home stadiums and 2) they are the most dedicated fans and look way better when all together rather than spread out
These traditions would make more sense to you if you know the name of the schools they're showing and what their mascots are.
And the stories behind how the traditions came to be
You need to watch ‘Greatest American Sports Fans’
Very Patriotic!
I requested that on Patreon but office bloke Mike said it was too long :(
I’m a Seminole booster.
You saved the best for last. The Penn State "Whiteout". One of the best atmospheres in all of CFB! 107,000, strong.
The Seminoles send the Chief Oseola an outfit each year. It’s a very respectful and loving relationship.
Well part 3 has the best tradition in all of college football so you guys should definitely react to part 3 as well! Love seeing your football reactions!
I'm a big fan of the Army Vs. Navy games! 💕
The 3rd traditions video will just be every college doing Seven Nation Army every 10 seconds and claiming they came up with it.
Love College football reactions from y’all!!
There might be other instances of separating fans here in the U.S. that is just the only one I know of.
at all the tennessee volunteers games we always sing rocky top
5:21 University of Tennessee Vol Walk
8:10 Vol Navy
Yes im from Knoxville, Tennessee and norn and raised Vol fan
Check out the Baylor Line. It’s a great tradition that Baylor University does. Great halftime shows too.
Cheers -
Glad ralphie and the Colorado buffs got some love
Watch LSU which has one of the best atmospheres anywhere. The best tailgating, over 100,000 people in the stadium and about that many still partying outside. It’s not a pitch, it’s a field.
Tennessee is full of traditions. You experienced two in this video. The Vol Walk and Vol Navy.
Nebraska Tunnel Walk is epic to us Huskers. This was Tom Osborne day the man is a god here in Husker Nation. Go Big Red. College football is bigger then the NFL.
Florida State is still the Seminoles. It's unlikely that will change at any point in the foreseeable future.
I went to University of North Carolina and they have a Mountain Ram with his rams painted light blue because that's the school colors....he stays under guard 24 hours a day!
LSU (my school) has one of the biggest reputations for being rowdy
There are for sure sections for away fans at all college football games
5.39 is “Rammer Jammer” which I feel you guys would appreciate.
College football tailgates 👌🏻
Those traditions are way cooler in person and there are much better videos of each tradition too.
That's their mascot!! Sooners have a long history - look up the areas to see why each team uses specific mascots or traditions....very interesting! OSU won that game against Penn State!!
You need to react to a full army navy pregame and the singing of the alma mater post game
Many college stadiums do not sell alcohol (although more and more are starting to do so).
5:42
The Alabama version of this song is called "Rammer Jammer" by the fans.
The Seminole tribe the Florida State gets their name from, supports the school and the name
The Florida Seminols wiped out the US standing army in 18**. (About 2500 men). So Florida State University named their football team after them.
We need more NFL reactions.
We need more NBA reactions. They have a lot more NFL than NBA.
@@ihateintroductions5808 😒
Regarding the Teepee of the Auburn tree....that tree is very special to them....to deface it like that is a slap in the face to them!!! And it's usually done by the arch rival, Alabama!!
No, It's done by Auburn fans and students
American football games have local police, state police and private security, thats why separating fans isn't needed but oddly enough they separate high school football games fans on opposite sides in my area.
Yeah cuz the parents fight.
Please react to best trucks and stiff arms for some real physical football dominance!
Also love any "biggest tackles ever" type vids for the NFL, there's a few out there!
If you ever make it to Texas, hit me up for an ATT&T Stadium tour and a Cowboys game.
THERE ISNT ANYTHING LIKE SATURDAY NIGHT IN DEATH VALLEY LSU
Love this channel. Great job on this video guys
The leagues require a certain number of tickets to the visiting teams and most of them will be in the same area.
Wow. I was wanting to see the rest of that shot where they run into the stadium with their iconic theme song and the overhead of that crowd and that immense and gorgeous stadium.
in most college football stadiums alcohol is not provided very few football stadiums sell it.
You'd think when they edited this video, they'd keep the music pumping from school to school. But then they cut to a short video on Tennessee and their boat fans. Why didn't they just show the actual party boats during a game and dub over it some music?! It would have kept the flow!
The guy with the sword was the drum major for the band.... not a cheerleader.
The most annoying traditional is the USC game cocks damn rooster call when 3rd down visitor.. if in traveling to Carolinas, then go see a SEC game at Columbia, SC.
Alright, mates. I like the structure angle
If you go to West Virginia you will be singing Country Roads at least a few times.
We don't have hooligans like you guys do. We do have fights, but not as much
Lol this is cool cause I had jus about the same reactions when I first started seeing soccer traditions
Auburn had 2, the eagle and tree, if you want any more detail about the sports hit me up! I know everything American Football related!!
The covered wagon is not random, it's how the Western US was settled. When the government started offering free homesteads in the Oklahoma territory, "sooner" come got the best land. It's a little more involved, but that is the gist of Oklahoma Sooners.
Yeah I was dying laughing they were making fun of themselves with a wagon running about with “SOONERS” on it 😂😂
@@hah3456 Yeah, I'm not an Oakie, but if you don't know the history, you don't get the competitive, we got here first, do or die, pride they have in the phrase Sooners.
