    I replaced the larger dash bulbs with LEDs and they work great. The 74 bulbs for bright beam indicator and cruise control indicators LEDs do not work . Any ideas?

    • @ArtiePenguin1
      @ArtiePenguin1  6 лет назад

      Hmm not sure, I guess just check that they are in the socket correctly and maybe reverse them in case they are polarized bulbs...

    • @8avexp
      @8avexp Год назад +1

      The climate control bulbs should be number 74. Ditto for the glove box light. 194 or 168 bulbs are commonly used for the instrument cluster.

    How do you know which bulb to buy? My 2000 sr5 needs 74, 24 & nep-wedgeA but Superbright lists 74, 194 & 158

      Hey Peter, from what I've read the only 2 bulb types in the dash are #194 (larger one) and #74. I'm not sure if T10 and T5 are equivalent sizes or not but online I just see #194 and #74. Neo-wedge A and B were also mentioned for some buttons.

    Hello, what if the gear light on the cluster is dead, is there a bulb behind it too?

    • @ArtiePenguin1
      @ArtiePenguin1  6 месяцев назад

      Those should be number 74 bulbs as well. I'm not sure if the original bulbs have a colored latex cover on them or not. I'd just get LEDs that are the correct color for the gear lights instead of all white LEDs.
      Hope this helps!

      @@ArtiePenguin1 ignore me, I was grumpy from being right in the middle of the job :)
      What was really irritating me was nothing I checked had a proper bulb type. You seemed to have the right bulbs. I had one of the big ones go out and I finally hand-fitted a 2721. All the rest had a too-skinny base so the socket wouldn't grab - even after tweaking the copper connections. Did the OEM bulb go obsolete?

    replace with LED wtf I hate how everyone jumps on the led bandwagon. I like the part where you say "well the led don't really fit in all the way, it wiggles but shouldn't very a problem" wtf..... Toyota spent millions on the design that lasted 190K on your odometer... why change it to anything ither than oem? and I seen your other video changing the flasher, ripping out a denso for some Chinese bullshit. no thanks I like my parts oem

    • @ArtiePenguin1
      @ArtiePenguin1  8 лет назад +19

      Well no offense, but some of us like to modify things; this particular mod isn't really difficult. Another reason is some people don't like the stock green tint all the lighting in the '98 4Runner has. The flasher module actually has been working quite well, most everything today is from China anyways. But if you are opposed to LED lighting, then at least don't post (what seem to be) angry comments on videos about LED lighting.

      KaliDeals Just let the man fucking mod his car the way he likes it. An LED instrument panel won't fucking bother other drivers are night. I respect a person who takes a time to mod a car to their liking, shows that they care about what they own.

    • @CondoreComputing
      @CondoreComputing 7 лет назад +3

      They didn't have high power reliable LED's in 98. There is no downside to switching to LED's that WILL outlast the life of the vehicle most likely. Why not improve things with modern technology on older cars ? And if its a decision that you don't like, it's not your car, so who cares ? I just switched out all the burned out indicator lights on my 91 MR-2 with 450K miles on it to all LED's. And i love it. Still looks perfectly factory OEM just like i like it as well.
