We need more people with his integrity maybe, but not his values. You can't run entire societies on pure capitalism. Like America is a hybrid of socialism and capitalism. There are several key sectors in an economy that simply must serve the citizens of it's country primarily, and seek either profit or solvency second. Like healthcare for instance.

I could not agree more with Mr O'Leary with his statement that the "moment you realize it's not going to work out" is the moment you should take action (fire/move/etc) with an employee. I stayed at a big company for over 11 years, innovating and building, and didn't realize that my Director and last Supervisor saw no future for me within probably the 1st year in the department. Had they been honest and forthright right away I would have found a different job, possibly sold my house and moved. Instead, the housing crash of 2008 caused my house to drop to 1/2 what I owed, and my well-being ultimately took a life-altering hit. I was financially stuck and sadly stayed with the company for several more years.
He was spot on that managers such as these are weak.
Always be honest and forthright, but remain compassionate too.

He is absolutely right about putting the business first. Keeping a struggling family member or friend as an employee demoralized other employees and creates a cancerous situation in the company.

But my primary concern is how to grow my reserve of $240k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains, sure I'm all in on the long term game, but with my savings are lying waste to inflation and my portfolio losing gains everyday, I need a remedy.

I work in technology. You don’t have to be a knob towards people. In my life I have seen it all. There is a saying we are constantly exposed to and that saying is this. “People don’t leave jobs they leave managers”. If you’re watching this and you’re a manager always treat your staff with respect. Don’t be a snake and go behind close doors. Speak to each one and be actually interested in them as human beings. What I see kill company and office culture the most is the fact that people cannot control their emotions when under tension and lose respect for people by their tones and body language ultimately creating a negative environment. I love good vibes and positivity. It’s the only thing that matters because in the end nobody gives two shits about a firmware upgrade.

    1. How does Kevin make difficult decision and the process he takes?
    Ans: Trust your Gut
    2. How to talk to people who are at the company to do good and not make money (profit + healthcare/education = Dirty word?)?
Ans: Business must make money and be sustainable so that the companies can hire people with the right expertise to do the job well in education/healthcare which is turn becomes the contribution of doing good.
    3. Chasing opportunity or chasing passion, which matters most?
Ans:Everybody has passion, it is the execution that matters.
    4. How to break investor's preconceived notions and show them what really matters as an entrepreneur?
Ans: That is not important, just tell the investor the acquisition cost because that is what matters 99% of the time.
What kind of characteristics and team dynamics do you look in a team before you invest in it?
Ans: Speak to the head of sales first and you will know all you need to know. Then speak to the CEO, if the CEO know less, then as an investor Kevin knows who to fire, and it is not the head of sales.

Would a business owner ever fire a customer? Why not? The ROI that 1 customer brings to a business is pennies on the Dollar compared to 1 good employee. This is a fact that most business owners don't understand. I get that 80% of employees are garbage and don't have a good ROI for the business, but those 20% of employees who do are FAR more valuable than 1 or 2 customers are. We have come to a point that employees are so devalued in the eyes of employers that they treat them like crap (both in pay and demeanor) and most businesses will bend over backwards to make 1 problematic customer happy. Business owners have lost sight about how valuable good employees are and this is why most businesses fail.

I wrote down ALL of the reasons I hated MLM's below and found ONE that solves ALL of the reasons to hate MLM's!!!
    PROBLEMS:
    1) Recruiting-only is the business model, and members are forced to buy stuff they can get at walmart for cheaper - that's just dishonest.
    2) The products have cheap competition that work perfectly fine (walmart has shakes, makeup, food containers), which means less selling for you!
    3) Per #2, you are forced to keep buying overpriced BS to stay in the business.
    4) Per #2: MLM members are forced to cry, do jumping jacks, lie, etc., to make the sale because... there is no reason to buy it from them; it's at Walmart.
    5) Inventory: I don't want boxes of overpriced crap in my house.
    6) In person demos: no thanks - gas is expensive and traffic stinks
    7) Saturation of salespeople: most people you approach have already been approached (plus can buy the crap at Walmart)
    8) Need vs Want: No one actually needs this crap.
    9) Lies about "your discount" as you 'buy in' to make you feel special.
WHAT (so that the problems solved - below - make sense with context)
What if the product gives both members and customers access to lawyers for $1/day? It/s mobile, not something you put in your body. Covers up to 300 hours of pre-trial/trial defense (you get sued - kid falls down your stairs), they write your will (easily $500 alone w/out it), you call with questions about where to start with something (advice), they will write letters to the DOT if a snowplow breaks your mailbox and you want payment for it, a small business owner needs legal docs reviewed before submitting (15 pages), you get a speeding ticket and want a lawyer to rep you in court and keep your driving record..... legal services that are pre-paid / free with the membership of less than $1/day?
WHY IT SOLVES EVERY MLM HATRED PROBLEM
    1) Recruiting: Let's say a member ONLY recruits. That's still perfect. Why? Because the EXACT people who join MLM's are folks who need money - those are the SAME people who benefit the MOST from the service as they could never afford a lawyer, but now they have prepaid legal services on speed dial, literally speed dial, and then, they help others to solve 2 problems at once (no money, no lawyer access). I.e. Your recruits ARE your best target market whose lives literally get better. BEAUTIFUL.
    2) Lawyers are expensive. Now they are on speed dial with dozens of common lawyer services - from big to small - totally pre-paid = ease of mind.
    3) Covered in #1, new members' lives are literally better and more secure now for less than $1/day.
    4) No crying, jumping jacks, or lying. The product is a no-brainer and cannot be bought at Walmart.
    5) It's mobile.
    6) Zoom and automation. Your content becomes omnipotent marketing where your digital self is talking to people about it while you sleep.
    7) Since you do not know anyone with this service (or very few), then clearly it is not oversaturated = tons of opportunity to make cash!
    8) People need lawyers. Plain and simple.
    9) It's one monthly price and reps cannot change it with a discount or an upsell.
So why not make money with it? Click my link below! Let's make money together without my preying on your buying cheap crap every month!

The guy is a muppet and kinda transparent. @18:30 he says he invests in women because they make him money. Money being the underling reason.
Tomorrow when it is economically beneficial to go against women, that's exactly what he's going to do. Back to his main point. It has nothing to do with genders.
Then he realizes he's getting a reception from the crowd, after claiming to get out the "whacking stick" when it comes to firing people, and goes off on some random tangent of how there should be more women in the workforce because they get him a better return on his money.
      Cute.

I just finished a book about women in STEM and will soon self publish. I hit the glass ceiling in a Director of QA/RA role. I have added reference to this video to the last chapter because it supports brain scan results by the Amen Clinic that indicate women may be better managers. I don't believe I want to go back to pharma/med device etc. because it's not possible to grow or rather climb into executive leadership. So, now, I must start my own business if I am to live up to my capability.
