Best explanation I've heard about the demand difference between holders from different grading companies. Thanks.

Proof mercs.are incredibly inexpensive for such very low mintages.😊

One of my favorite designs. Never thought about proofs. I just did circulated. Most of mine are raw. Key dates are in holders as bought. I've taken to heart buy the coin not the holder. Only downside is you need 2 or 3 ways to store coins.

The '36-'42 proofs are *so* tough to get a grade over PR65!

Sweet video and topic. I have over 200 Mercury dimes for stacking purposes. None look as good as those though. 😆
I really like the ANACS holders. I only have a few coins that are graded. It's a time saver ( if I had more ), to be able to look down at the holder to see what it is before picking them up, but that's just my 10 cents... 😂

I collect Mercury dimes in slabs, and I have very good unslabbed coins, and I of course have the 2016 gold one (got a bloody 69 on it), but proofs, I think I need some of these. Perhaps not the first year, but I would like perhaps one nice one, then a few other 64-66 slabs. I avoided them because I could not distinguish them from regular dimes.

Watch out for the proofs that don't have full bands. Yes, they exist, and they seem to be mostly dated 1942. You'll also see proofs of all dates with incomplete detail, often on the "E Pluribus Unum" legend on the reverse.

Thanks Ben, this was very informative. I'm trying to determine if some of my coins are worth grading and if they are which service I should go with. ANACS is easy for me because they are available at every coin show here in PHX, but when people are asked about who they use for grading, ANACS seems to be lower on the list than the other 3. Do you see a preference in holders for collecting?

I don't know why people don't look at the entire population and then just crossover to the grading service they want... yeah, that cost some money, but is that person a collector or an investor!
Personally, I'd crack out and send to PCGS, I want all my holders the same!
