- Having a famous parent can be a daunting challenge for many people; there is the overwhelming expectations, the HUGE shadow that's ever present, the arduous task of find self-identity & the name of said parent always looming in every conversation; just ask Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. OR Nicolas Cage (who changed his name from Coppola) & lets not forget Robert Balboa from the 'Rocky Balboa' film & his evident difficulties. However, I'm happy to share that bassist, Tye Trujillo, (son of Metallica bassist, Rob Trujillo) even as a high school senior is, not only coping well, but excelling at his own pace with his EXTREMELY talented, funky, thrashy & loco groovy band, OTTTO! This 3-piece Los Angeles based band rounded out by vocalist/guitarist, Bryan Ferretti & drummer Triko Chavez have without a doubt found their niche, sound & strong brotherhood, which was first quite evident in 2019 when the band released their self-titled debut. And, at such a young age 3-years ago can be 'ancient history' & the band in 2023 is just about to prove that when they release their 1st official debut in March. With such AMAZINGLY groovy, bass-laden & melodic tunes, like 'Skyscraper' & 'Low Ride', (which can be found online), the debut will surely open doors & gain the band a new legion of fans worldwide. SO, when the band decided to do a small string of shows in Texas (& Louisiana), we jumped at the opportunity get ALL the lowdown when OTTTO landed in San Antonio a week ago on November 13th, 2022. We met up with the band at their humble lodgings for the night at the Emily Morgan Hotel & discussed the following: the formation of the band, their unique sound & name, their upcoming LIVE release for record store day, 'Locos Live in Venice', their upcoming debut, touring opportunities & much more! To ALL the RMW extended Familia, you need to get acquainted here. This band is for REAL & goes far beyond any 'famous parent' tagline, so be sure to check it out! To Bryan, Tye & Triko, thanks for your humility. I wish you guys ALL the success in the world. Keep on rockin & we'll cross paths again soon. ~ El Mero Metal
