    I'm American, so pulling for team USA isn't really a question, but part of me wonders how it would be if GB goes far. I'd love to see baseball grow a lot more in the UK. Good game, and best of luck to our friends across the pond!

    • @Mark-sj3xb
      @Mark-sj3xb Год назад +15

      My only wish would be that GB would develop the game more in the mold of how American baseball used to be. Like developing pitchers that can actually strategically pitch rather than always trying to max out the radar gun. Its a lost art. Don Sutton once said no matter how fast you pitch, hitters will eventually catch up to it, but if you are constantly keeping them guessing and changing speeds and location, the pitcher will always have the upper hand advantage and will save his arm in the process.

      @@Mark-sj3xb They can't all be Aroldis Chapmans. I also notice this with a lot of high school pitchers, where many believe that speed is THE unit of measurement of skill. Takes a good amount of strength to pitch fast, but witnessing the mental battle between a great pitcher and hitter is something neither will ever forget, and it's amazing to witness. I hope we can see more pros coming from across the pond, who can adopt the mentality you've stated.

    I love watching the World Baseball Classic! I have since it was first introduced in 2006 and have watched every tournament. But I have two complaints about it. The main one is about the pitch counts. That the pitcher can't pitch more than a certain number of pitches and also that the pitchers have to have a certain about of days of rest between when they pitched. Just let the pitchers play. The other one is the mercy rule. I have never liked mercy rules in sports. Especially in professional leagues. What is this....an orange slices league.

    • @Mark-sj3xb
      @Mark-sj3xb Год назад

      Since they don’t play a continuous day to day schedule and games can be days apart, you could conceivably pitch your best two or three starters throughout the whole series. This rule makes it where you have to display depth in your rotation rather than every team having to face a dominant ace all the time. For the purposes of a tournament like this, I think its a good rule
