@@Wafful_lol it's a different version, personally I try to keep up with everything tmnt related that comes out and if I had to watch the same thing over and over again I'd get sick of it. Rise feels fresh and has a more action anime vibe, the voice acting is insane and sounds natural amd that's because the voice actors were close and cared about the show a lot even if the audience didn't like it much at the beginning, they still did their best, and it's very clear the more you watch that everyone put a lot of love to everything they made. 2012 tmnt was very long, it had many seasons and it did everything it could, it followed the story, it gave its own take on many many characters and situations from past versions of the show but also the comics, it was insane. It focused more on the plot and what could make it richer, and it did a fantastic job. What had to come after that show could never be as good. That's why they had to focus on something different. The plot is still great, but Rise focuses more on the characters and their dynamics and personalities and how the turtles literally rise to become the heroes they have to be, and we see them struggle and fight not just with enemies, but also with themselves. I've never related to an animated mutant turtle before. And the movie was the cherry on top. Craziest thing I've ever seen tbh, fucking insane
Personally I think that rise was risky but still incredible and even if it's not everyone's cup of tea, the work and talent and love it had makes it, objectively, a masterpiece

It’s just a matter of taste. Plus, if you grew up with it you’re going to have some nostalgia beer goggles on for that series in particular. I was busy finishing my last year of high school when it came out so I definitely didn’t grow up with it. I watched it recently and it wasn’t my cup of tea; too inconsistent and too much shipping for me.

I don’t think rise of TMNT was that bad in terms of plot, but honestly… the whole series just felt like a huge ass goofy mess and I just couldn’t take a single moment in that show serious
As a 2012 fan i understand why. Im a fan only for the reason of it being my old childhood show and the wholesome moments of the turtles being actual teens. But for others i understand how incredibly weird it is. I mean if it wasn't my childhood show i would be like "Wtf is going on with humans x turtles and IN$EST?!??"(yeah i can't excuse that one the writers were probably drunk when they wrote that..). But i do enjoy the show because it makes me feel like a child and i REALLY understand why people are conflicted. Reminder: Don't judge others and they will leave the fvck alone unless they are an asshat.

The voice actor who played Raphael from the 80s show actually voiced Donatello in the 2012 show. 2012 took alot from the 80s version. Overall I think 80s version is alot better, even the 2000 one is way better.

- The boys showing physical affection to each others through hugs and nice words
- The boys having solo episodes -- and there's even episodes without the boys at all (April or Splinter centered)
- The Foot Clan having recognisable characters with their own personalities

TMNT 2012 is actually my favorite TMNT series. Also rise is DOGWATER
I started watching 2012 on Netflix because I was looking for something for my kids to watch and I ended up hooked. Alot of depth is in the show. Some of the character designs were meh to me, but it was scripted extremely well and I would say that there was an underlying dark tone to the series that could keep even adults entertained. There were many times even that it didnt feel like a simple kids show due to some of the very mature concepts in it. One example is in the the confrontation between Splinter and the Rat King. Shit got DARK😂! Not just a braindead show at all in fact it reminded me of the more mature comic series just hidden behind goofy CG which was genius because I dont think they would have let the show air with the 2003 turtles show animation because it would have been all around way too mature for Nick imo.

These are pretty much my same takes with the exception of Rise. I realize it’s not for everyone but on a creative and artistic level I liked some of the ideas that were brought to the table and some of the dialogue had me in stitches. I’d never call it my favorite though because that spot has been held by TMNT 2003 since it aired.
I liked the changed dynamics in rise, everyone acts as they usually do, donnie is a tech head, raph is hot headed and doesnt think out his plans, mikey is a party animal and so on with other characters. But the dynamics have shifted with raph as leader which feels pretty cool to see him as the groups leader.
Plus donnie having autism is just golden, like hes written so well with his small mannerisms and speech and it just fits so well, especially given him having a weak shell and him being the only one who rejects the magical weapons.
Like i feel like they really built on the characters in unique ways with insecurities and new dynamics and bringing in magic elements while still maintaining the elements that make the characters themselves.
Only thing i HATE in that show is splinter. If i had a version of Rise with its splinter being swapped for the 2012 splinter then id be heaven.
@@digitalfantasies4570 Here’s my thing with Splinter, he’s kind of the reason their dynamic is different. He’s such a crap parent that Raph had to become the actual parent being that he’s the large protector, Leo was never given responsibilities to weigh him down so he’s immature and insecure about his purpose, Donnie wasn’t praised for anything so he constantly needs reassurance of what he’s good at, and he didn’t show the boys a whole lot of unconditional parental love or affection so Mikey feels the need to carry the emotional weight between his brothers. I hated the change at first with Splinter but after noticing that particular detail I came to enjoy how flawed he is as well.
He was forced into a life he didn’t want. He lost his mother and, in a sense, his autonomy over his destiny. So he rejected the his destiny and forged his own path. This path fed his selfishness and led him to where he is by the beginning of the show. It’s not until he is forced to face his destiny after Shredder’s revival that he has to pull himself from his self-centered haze to protect the people he loves. This didn’t mean he had to turn into the Splinter of past iterations but rather that he had to open his eyes to the now very real possibility that his sons may not survive if he doesn’t get off his ass and put in the work to teach them. He also had to face the bitterness he had towards Draxum. He blamed Draxum, and rightfully so, for the loss of the life he knew and for mutating him. It’s not until he remembers through Mikey how much love he’s received from his sons that he’s able to let the past stay in the past and be grateful for what he has. If it weren’t for the cut off third season, we might have seen more growth but what we got was pretty damn good, in my opinion.

They kind of treated it like “Yeah, that sucked. Moving on!” It had to be more devastating than that if he really saw a future with her.
@@sassyghost_8 yeah.. for all we know he was captured by her for around 20+ years due to a episode board where it showed the year so he was there for a long time (there's even murals of him) that maybe there's stuff he doesn't even realize, maybe that's part of why he's was so into the Glory even though he decided to stop fighting, that once he became a rat he pushed those hate thoughts onto Drax (rightfully so) since things became more difficult and becoming a unprepared father he craved for the action later on, after all it would be hard to hate the yokai you loved and still care for even after all that than hating on a random yokai that kidnapped you
Ah the mystery between Splinter and Big Mama will remain of their relationship until the show gets UnPaused, which would be a long while

The three 1990's tmnt movies were actually really good imo! Some of the graphics and scenes are a bit visually dated, but they aged really well and all the jokes still land, which is really good considering their age.

Shame Out of the Shadows got hate just because of its predecessor and Michael Bay, that movie was actually pretty good, Baxter Stockman, Bebop and Rocksteady, Krang, a Shredder that wasn't a Transformer, less Megan Fox, tweaked Turtle designs AND Casey Jones. Movie is 100% slept on.
