The style is from the late 40's through the 50's. Early they were called torch singers, later lounge singers. You really need to check out PMJ's version of Seven Nation Army featuring Haley again. pure fire!
Take note the top lying talent here is Scott Bradlee the guy on piano. He is the mastermind of PMJ. He has lots of stuff with several singers that is fantastic. I agree Morgan James doing Dream on should be your next blast.
If you want another cover that is better, how about a New Orleans dirge of Seven Nation Army with Haley. I’ve been following her since Idol and love her voice.
If you want more Haley, then your next one should be The White Stripes' 'Seven Nation Army', it's a work of art. Then there is Britney Spears' 'Oops I Did It Again', & The Cardigans' 'Lovefool' to name but two. Morgan James does a stunning version of Aerosmith's 'Dream On'. Some lesser known ones that are criminally neglected are Britney Spears' 'Toxic' with Melinda Doolittle and Fleetwood Mac's 'Don't Stop' with Maiya Sykes. All of the above are outstanding. There are so many more, PMJ is a very deep rabbit hole and there are plenty more suggestions after these. Their covers are just absolutely amazing. You will not be disappointed, I assure you.
Totally agree. You saved me the trouble of listing those songs. I'd add Mad World with Puddles Pity Party (the sad clown guy). That version turns a sad song into a fun song, though anyone who doesn't like clowns probably should avoid it. Haley is great fun in that one though.
I first heard this at my brother-in-law's wedding reception. There was a whole playlist of PMJ that played softly in the background while everyone ate, before the DJ kicked the dancing off. It gave the whole affair the feel of an upscale cocktail party, and I recognized the lyrics to All About That Bass and was like 'WTF?!" So this was the second song, and I made my husband go up and ask the DJ what this was. After that, we were fans! Love this! PMJ does various artists doing various songs in the style of the 20's, 30's and 40's They are AMAZING!
I really enjoy her original music video "Better" but then again, I've been crushing on Hailey for over a decade now! Her covers of so many rock classics from the 60's and 70's have stolen my heart! Great reaction, Man!
I love the way she changes her tone to give it a deeper feeling ... you're so very special ... I wish I was special .... but I'm a creep ... I'm a weirdo! Chills, big time chills!! My fav thing about PMJ is how they take newer songs and make'em jazzy, giving it their own twist, but keeping the original essence. For more amazing PMJ+Haley, try Seven Nation Army. She's a total Jessica Rabbit there! Mad World with PMJ and Puddles is pretty good too. Changing to funny goofy, please react to Home Free's "All About That Bass" and "All About That Bass (Behind the Scenes)". They are both hilarious! Maybe you can make it a double feature? Thanks for a great reaction!
Aside from PMJ, I'd recommend Haley's cover of the Elvis Presley song "Can't Help Falling in Love" which is the soundtrack to a romantic Extra Gum commercial. There is the full commercial version where you don't see Haley, but you get the full impact of the commercial and then a version that cuts in and out between Haley in the studio and excerpts from the commercial. If you're a romantic I'd do the full commercial, though you do miss watching Haley and she is always a pleasure to see.
Oh! Another just for fun ones that I forgot to mention in my last comment (on the PMJ "All About That Bass" cover) is PMJ's cover of "Blurred Lines" done barn dance style with Robyn Adele Anderson. If you can tear your eyes off Robyn, it's pretty hilarious to note the facial expressions of Adam Kubota, the bassist, who is positioned with a full view of Robyn's backside.
After seeing this performance analyzed from every possible angle, from the arrangement to Hayley's performance itself, it is clear that she has mastery of her instrument - it is amazing how many different techniques and effects she employs.
Scott Bradlee specializes in taking modern songs and re-imagining them in styles from the mid-20th century. Then, he brings on the appropriate instruments (usually acoustic) and singer(s). The result is VERY special. You said you needed a cigar and a malt liquor. By the time I finished listening to this one, I wanted a cigarette! There are many, many more PMJ songs with "throw back styles." Several of their best feature Haley...but Scott's used MANY more talented performers. One of my overall favorites is their recreation of "Wannabe" by The Spice Girls -- performed in the WW2-era style of The Andrews Sisters: ruclips.net/video/u9jGGiqjwf4/видео.html It's a great song, the vocalists harmonize perfectly, and their mid-40s costumes are spot on!
PMJ only does covers, but all of them are superb. They tend to put a jazz spin on modern music, and the singers rotate through. Haley has several with them, as well as a nice volume of her own work. You have now had an eargasm. Your ears need a smoke, and a cold shower.
Jazz/Blues is what I would call most PMJ. Lot's of 20's/30's influence like Flapper Music or maybe Swing. For Haley I would recommend 7 Nation Army. For Morgon James (who you saw on All About The Bass) you must check out Dream On. Then pretty much everything else... Haley with Puddles (Mad World) is pretty cool.
Truly special voice and personality,, I've enjoyed Haley Reinhart's spirit since she was on American Idol, and wouldn't let the judges influence how she sang... she's a rebel with a cause; to do her unique style of sultry soul, and she does it well! She also has some great collabs with another American Idol free spirit, Casey Abrams (he also plays a mean cello!); they have a special musical and soul connection that shines whenever they get together to create music. I request: "Haley Reinhart & Casey Abrams - All About That Bass [2015]" (the 2015 live version, length 5:09 from Rachel Calderon's Channel). Another awesome reaction, Highly! And congrats again on the epically fast yet well-deserved 10K 🥳
Hailey has a number of Post Modern Jukebox songs but she also has many other videos. She came in 3rd on American Idol one season (topped by 2 country artists who've done pretty well). If you want to hear more of her just type in her name and have fun.
There are several great Haley Reinhardt PMJ songs but now you have to react to Morgan James/ PMJ cover of Aerosmith's Dream On. I subbed to see that but will certainly check out your previous reactions too. P.S. You want to see a great cover? Check out Heart's tribute to Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2012 with Stairway to Heaven. It had Robert Plant tearing up.
instant stank face!.....the arrangement is straight outta' Tin Pan Alley.....feels like a jazz club in the 1950's....PMJ just finds all the great singers.....you better sing, girl !
Wait til you react to PMJ's cover of Seven Nation Army Ft. Haley. Real life Jessica Rabbit always comes to mind. And although I quit smoking almost 2 years ago, I still feel like a cigarette after I watch that video. Haley has some solo stuff also that's worth looking in to.
you should take a look: Dont Speak - Seven Nation Army - Lovefool - Balck Hole Sun - Mad Word. those are the best colaboration (if not all) of Haley with PMJ
100% agree on remakes. Either do it in the original style with quality and reverence or make it your own, something that sounds original without screwing it up.
I like the Radiohead version, and this one is very different (heard it a while ago) I also enjoy this one because it’s completely different. I will call it Jazzy/Bluesy. 🤷🏻♀️ You and I are on the same page regarding covers. I feel exactly the same.
strongly recommend "all about the base" next. another great post modern jukebox collaboration that includes haley along with two other great female singers... then you can follow up with her "extra" commercial version of "can't help following in love with you" originally song by elvis presley. haley is truly amazing and addictive. she has elements of janis joplin, maria carey, ella fitzgerald, etta james, with splashes of minnie mouse, marilyn monroe and yes, jessica rabbit that create this unbelievable combination of jazz, rock&roll and soul that is so unique... her video cover of "creep" maybe the best of all time followed closely with "hurt" by johnny cash and recently "dreams" by lanie gardner... enjoy!
Disturbed’s cover of Sound of Silence is my favorite cover ever. They also do a great cover of Sting’s If I Ever Lose My Faith In You. Killswitch Engage does a badass cover of Dio’s Holy Diver. 🖤
I think the greatest cover version ever that blew away the original to the point that people forget the original is Joe Cocker: With A Little Help From My Friends.

I think to myself - he wants to know more about Haley. Well, I could spend the next 30 mins typing out all her accomplishments over the past decade but seriously why would I want to work my fingers to the bone when I can just post this link to a more comprehensive expose of her bona fides - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haley_Reinhart It's rather eclectic all things considered. Jazz, it's called Jazz! Yeah lounge, but not classical, mabe some big band elements, some bluesy notes and some soul on top, but at the end of the day it's totally Jazzzzzzz man.
Well, you have discovered Haley Reinhart who is by far the best female vocalist to have ever performed with PMJ. As no other vocalist has nearly the number of views relative to Haley Reinhart on PMJ's massive RUclips channel. Anyway, the next two Haley Reinhart performances with PMJ I would highly recommend you reacting to are her cover of Seven Nation Army and her cover of Oops, I Did It Again. Haley and her Dad did a cover of Cant find my way home...by Blind Faith at Chess records...its otherworldly!!!

This was done in one take on their day off. What you're hearing actually what's being played and sung in that moment. A legit live performance.
'Lovefool' and/or 'Habits' PMJ and Haley.
So very good this sound.

They make Radiohead sound like a coma.
Hi, Haley Reinhard is best female singer of planet. Sugestion: Seven Nation Army by Harley Reinhard and Postmodern Jukebox.
Haley Reinhart does for my ears what Patricia Farinelli did for my eyes 40 years ago!
Haley has 4 albums outside of Postmodern Jukebox, check out any original or any live performance.
I like the Radiohead version, and this one is very different (heard it a while ago) I also enjoy this one because it’s completely different. I will call it Jazzy/Bluesy. 🤷🏻♀️
