Doing these tank tours helps to learn that different aquarists do different things when it comes to water parameters. If its one that thats common amongst these aquarists is that they maintain consistent water parameters.
Jason is a coral seller as well - he was at Reefapalooza. Nice guy, great corals. He had some kind of lighting issue where the blues wouldn't come on so it was hard to tell what his acros looked like - but I bought one anyway, and it looks great. Later I saw a RAP recap video where his blues were on, I wish I had bought more - they looked fantastic.
West Coast never has a chance on these Caspar sightings- unless you wake up at dawn, don’t even go to the bathroom, don’t let the dog out, but rush to your phone first! LoL 😂 Beautiful tank though
I had Vermidid snails bad!! And I introduced a ton of bumblebee snails and stopped broadcast feeding and the amount of vermidid snails has dropped like 90+%
@@elementsoflife000 - That was a long time ago. They are my favorite freshwater fish and if I ever get back into freshwater I want to do a huge Mdoka White Lip species tank. I think that would look cool. But I am loving the reef hobby.
@@WorldWideCorals - When I was feeding the corals I noticed that the vermidid snails with secrete a mucus and after the population exploded and I did research, the feeding of the corals with all the powered food caused them to do that.
Cooking is actually a really good analogy. I cook a lot of flans. And it changes how fast it cooks dramatically between different ovens. And even the same ovens in different locations. In high altitude mountain areas it changed dramatically by almost 30 minutes. So even if you follow the same recipe you might end up with wildly different results.
Great tank Jason, wow those colours are really popping 👌🏼 I trick for vermidid snails was bubble bee snails, stop broadcast feeding for a month & starter coral snowing the tank & the population dropped , I have a couple tiny ones left but not annoying any corals & when I see they do I get a dentist tooth stick in there & brake them up & the tangs & angels go mad for any flesh from them .

Thanks Vic….. I’m loving these tank tours and seeing the different ways people run a very successful tank. DKH at 6.5 and his tank looks like that! Amazing! Not something I’d be trying!😂
man! i'd love to have his light schedule, i've spent 3 months with 4 radeon xr30 pros and i cant get the lighting correct. may just not be understanding the different spectrums. i think that's my last real step. everything else is top of the line. equipment wise, levels are sitting at recommended. thinking my lighting is the issue for lack of growth in coral.
Hello, I run deep blue and UV for 12 hours a day at 100%, two hours after turn on they ramp up to 30% green, 30% red, 30% white and all other channels at 100%, they stay at that intensity for about 5 hours then ramp back down to blue and uv for 2 hours before turning off
@@Six-rp6vx no problem, I don't know what the Kelvin ends up being with those percentages, my guess would be somewhere around 14k, the PAR is 400-550 at the top of my rocks, 200-300 around the bottom

I always accidentally dose more all for reef and my alkalinity reaches 14.5 😂 but alaways get away by not killing any of my corals except my two torches in the past.
Even when people tell you what point Casper is visible I still cannot see it, I think WWC is taking advantage with people with poor vision, LOL. Maybe the challenge should be what kind of hat is he wearing.
Definitely contributing, but I've always run oversized or multiple skimmers on my systems and I usually battle low ph due to all the calcium reactor effluent
Another awesome tank. It’s important to have a power backup generator to keep the tank going while the power is out. Especially in areas that are threatened by hurricanes and winter storms.

No offense, but is this really the first time you’ve heard bumblebee snails (may) eat vermitid snails? Or was that a joke… I’ve been hearing/reading that for years… and tried it too
I don’t think he’s following that tank too closely because there is no way he’s growing corals at 6.5. I run my calcium reactor at 6.5 so that should tell you something. If he wants a really nice tank, bump it up to 8dkh and calibrate that ph probe Mr 8.6 😂. Beautiful set up - love it! Happy reefing 👍🏻🍻🤛🏻
I believe it I’ve always ran my tanks on low alk for many years now even all the way down to 5.5dkh on my old full blown high end sps system I find it’s easier on corals since natural seawater is similarly low in the 6 and 7 range
I like his approach, I think that approach comes with years of experience!

Who built the tank 😮
What are the dimensions of this tank !??
Ph 8.4 6.5 dkh?
Yes that is correct, though the alk is usually closer to 7 than it is 6.5, 6.5-7 is my acceptable range

For bubble algae , get a juvenile vlamingi tang , smaller sized especially juvenile can go into most of the nook and cranny of the reef scape .
Nice suggestion!! Thank you for watching!!
I've had good luck with naso tangs eating bubble algae as well.
thanks for the idea, I'll look into that
Bumblebee snail will sort out the vermit snails. Cleared my 800 liter tank of them a couple of year ago and haven't notice them come back.
good to know, thanks!
That's awesome!! Appreciate you watching and giving the tip!
2 Skimmers higher ph?
Yes, by increasing oxygen and removing CO2, especially if you hook it up to a C02 scrubber or run the air intake, outside.
I always accidentally dose more all for reef and my alkalinity reaches 14.5 😂 but alaways get away by not killing any of my corals except my two torches in the past.
Same happened to me. Seems like AFR isn’t deadly when over dosed.
@@reefingwithjggraciano9167 but one thing is that all the corals are not fully open until day by day alkalinity stabilises.
Ouch!! Gotta be careful! We'd say alkalinity and phosphates are usually the most important and should be handled carefully
:)
I run mine at 7.5 and have higher nitrates like him. I feed strictly frozen foods no pellets at all.
Sounds like a good approach!
Does "tank crash" just mean some kind of generic die-off that can be caused by anything, or is there a very specific meaning behind "tank crash" ?
it's become a general term when something major goes wrong with the tank and mass die-off occurs
