Thanks for the video Dean. I read the Justo Gonzalez books last year. As you said, a great historical overview and a great primer if you want to dig a little deeper with other books. Some great biographies I’ve read are To The Golden Shore by Courtney Anderson, William Carey by Pierce Carey and Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas.
Have you ever read the Lost Letters Of Pergamum? It's fiction but written through the eyes of someone in the early church, it was really helpufl for me to get into the story of what was happening in the early church. Great video dude, I'm going to check out those Holcomb books!
This is more of a reference book as it is 8 volumes long, but Philip Schaff’s History of the Christian Church is a great resource to have for any serious student of Church History.
Gonzalez also wrote A History of Christian Thought. Rather than giving a historical account of prominent church leaders, this book looks into theological mile stones. Along the same lines… but this book is amazing.
